Watersafe Swim School

So far so good! Signed my 3 year old up for private lessons and she had a blast! Bethany matches my daughters personality so well. Can’t wait to see how far she will go this summer!

We started lessons with our son when he was 10 months old and when his sister was born 8 months later we started her at 6 weeks because we were so impressed! Now they are almost three and 14 months. The almost three year old can swim like a champ — so confident and safe in the water! And our 14 month old passed her basic survival test before she was a year old (she could fall into the pool in her pajamas and flip herself onto her back to float). They both love not just their teacher, but have taken several make up lessons with several different teachers, all of whom have been great with the kids! We love being a part of the Watersafe family and couldn’t recommend it strongly enough to people looking for a swim school!

My daughter is 6 years old now, but a year ago, when we started Watersafe, we’d been to numerous schools, and with the bad experiences, and crying, and pleading not to return week after week, I wasn’t sure if she’d ever learn to swim. Having been a competitive swimmer and water sports person all my life, it was hard for me to endure.
A year ago, a friend gave me a one month gift of swimming pass, and she was close to freaking out when we started with an almost bad start. Now, my daughter is anxious to get to swimming each week, and during their special all-​you-​can-​swim months, she’s learned that she loves not only Christina (who she adores to no end), but many other instructors, especially Arian and Marcus, who she’s spent lesson time with during all-​you-​can-​swim. She always has a smile on her face throughout her lessons and I see now that maybe we will finally may be able to snorkel Catalina together soon! We are on winter break now from swim lessons, but are taking advantage of their free family swim at Los Alamitos almost every day (awesome pools there!). My daughter complains about missing a single day family swim is open.
I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

I cannot say enough good things about this swim school at all! I wish as a child I had attended a school just like this! I am ever grateful to have this school and the time they take with my boys. High five to all the teachers and owner!

I have nothing but great things to say about Watersafe. I started my daughter at 3 months and she is now 10 months and is doing so well! It helps develop her gross motor skills and confidence I know she is learning so much! I highly recommend any new parent to try it out. It’s free for kids under 4months so why not? You’ll love it!

I have been to 3 lessons with my insecure around water daughter. In these sessions with her swim coach, I have witnessed a major change in her courage, and self assurance. What a wonderful way to encourage your child that they can have this skill to use in everything they do. I absolutely am thrilled and look forward to future lessons and keep watching my child change as she learns new lifesaving methods.

This place, and Ms Arian is the best! Our son has been coming here twice a week since he was 3 – 4 months old and is now 14 months old. He has made good progress at floating and flipping over by himself. Arian is great, funny, friendly, and really good with him. We hope that soon he will be able to swim independently.

Both of my kids went to watersafe swim school and swim like fish now. Their techniques to teach kids how to swim are amazing and their teachers are really patient. Also, their pool is heated. With another swim school that was one of the issues we had. My son’s lips were blue when he got out of the pool from being so cold. Watersafe has the pool heated so the kids are comfortable and can focus on technique.

We heard about Watersafe swim school through a personal trainer who has another client that has a child that attends the school. We were very impressed at their commitment to teaching children safe habits around the water. For infants between 0 – 4 months they do not charge a fee to teach the children how to rollover and float. That is amazing commitment to a good cause.
Our son’s first lesson was at 11 weeks old. He has gone two times per week ever since. There is a noticeable difference from day one to now. Our son falls into the water and is able to right himself and get his face out of the water. He is then able to float, which would allow us time to get to him in the event he falls in the water. This is the main goal of water familiarization with a child at this age. The owner, Ginny, has done an excellent job at challenged our son.
I expect in the future he will learn to swim and pull himself out of the pool. However, what he can do at 14 weeks old is amazing.
I saw a previous comment about 15 minute lessons, but that is more than enough time for an infant. I cannot say enough good things about Watesafe swim school. They have earned my trust and I feel comfortable with my infant in the pool with them.
I also read another review about the possibly of being splashed while sitting poolside. This person noted the «inconsiderate children» splashing. How extremely ridiculous to say about small children. I have to say, that if you don’t expect to get splashed sitting on the side of the pool filled with children learning to swim then you are an idiot. The school focuses on the children and teaching them how to be safe in the water, not the creature comforts for the parents watching. But please do not misunderstand me, I have never been uncomfortable sitting on the benches.
I hope this review is helpful to others who are considering enrolling their child in a swimming course. Again, I cannot say enough good things about this school.

We love Watersafe! Although we are about 30 minutes away it’s still worth the drive for us. Our son has made so many improvements and is having so much fun learning how to swim. Kristin V. is awesome! I like that she always gives us feedback after each lesson. She is very kind and caring but firm when she needs to be. My son has never complained once about swim lessons. He loves going and he likes being in the water.
My only complaint is that it’s a pricey and lessons are so short. For our family the pros outweighed the cons that’s why we continue. Plus our son, Jax loves Kirstin. :)

We love lessons here! My daughter used to go to Waterworks and progressed significantly when we switched to Watersafe. We adore Elizabeth and Karen. Totally agree with the other parents about some being mean. The men yell so much it’s heartbreaking to see. I can’t imagine letting my child get yelled at like that. As I a lifelong competitive swimmer myself I was yelled at by plenty of coaches when I deserved it, but these are young children learning. The management really should not allow this.

I wanted to update my review since I had an awesome experience with both the office manager (Meryl) and make up instructors. I scheduled a make up lesson for my daughter which I was very apprehensive to do since I love her regular instructor (Sharlee) & my daughter who is 2 ½ had a rough time getting initially acclimated to lessons. I expressed my concerns to Meryl while making the appt & she was very reassuring & asked me to let her know if I had any instructor concerns after the lesson.
I am happy to report that I was thrilled with the make up experience. Mandy saw my daughter playing in the play area & asked if she could take her to swim for a little while since her scheduled student was late. She was amazing with my daughter as was Kristen who was her make up instructor. Overall, I continue to love Watersafe. Sharlee (her regular instructor) is amazing & we had a great make up experience today.

Our daughter screamed in her instructor, Marcus’ ear for 4 months straight when we first started her, but he was patient and persistent — she was stubborn but he was equally determined. She also worked with other swim instructors there and they all seem to have the same high level of patience. My 3 year old swims better than most adults and I’ve seen children 1 and 2 years old get thrown in that pool fully clothed and they are able to float, get back to the edge, and pass their survival test. It’s amazing. Knowing that my daughter is safe in water makes this school worth every penny.

Only 15 min lessons. If you are late 10 mins, you are ²⁄₃ into your lesson without your kid getting wet.
Pool closures (when a kid potties in the pool) suck. You get make up lessons, but good luck getting one. I have had only a couple make up lessons in 8 years. I have so many make up lessons, I can go weekly for a year on make up.
Dressing area is tight.
Parents sit on the bench by the pool and get splashed a lot by inconsiderate kids and parents who couldn’t care.
All swim instructors are not the same. Some are really good. Some are really mean. And some just play with the kids in the water. This is definitely not like the irvine swim schools which are superior. Our friend’a kids in irvine are way way way way better swimmers than my kids.

Way too crowded but still fun and conveniently located. It is a good deal with the discount.
I prefer swimming with friends at the outside toddler pool at the belmont Olympic pool. It is warm and fun and way cheap. I can’t remember the hours but be sure to ask about the toddler pool which has long open swim hours than the regular pool

This place is amazing! I highly recommend this place. It might seem pricey, but it is worth every penny. My daughter was afraid of going into the pool her first lesson and now she gets excited when she has swim class. The teachers are great and very patient.

Our 4 ½ year old couldn’t dog paddle or come close to floating out on her own.
3 lessons later, she was floating on her back and was swimming on her own.
Flash forward 2 months after she began and my daughter now swims out to the booeys with me out in the bay.
She’s had a few different instructors and they’re all great!
The monthly price is just right, considering the peace of mind we now have regarding our daughter’s newly aquired abilities if she were to fall into a body of water.

This place is as good as it gets! Have been here for about 3 months now and my 3 year old daughter is now able to float on her own and is okay with being underwater. I HIGHLY recommend Greg he’s so good with the kids and a great comforter when they cry. I’ve only had one other instructor before and he was okay. Greg is just amazing. HIGHLY recommend this place for your kids!

This place is as good as it gets!
The teachers here are patient with every child and really know what they’re doing. My kids were horrified of putting their heads under water when we started lessons, and now they look forward to their swimming lessons! I’m very grateful to this school.
My only criticism is that calls about cancellations and pool closures tend to be made with short notice.
