Cabo Clear Lake

It’s a dive bar that’s unfortunately too dark inside and when I was there the music was crappy.
BUT they have a fantastic and fairly large second story deck over looking Clear Lake
Between this place and Turtle Club next door I’d choose this place.

Cabo is a great place to have a beer and enjoy a water view. They have a great menu. I’ve tried almost everything on it… Thursday is steak night and it’s really good. They also have a fabulous tuna steak on Thursdays. It’s a smoking bar so I prefer to sit outside. They also have live bands. Great place to go sit outside when the weather is good.

Fun! Great water front atmosphere. Had a great time, good people, good prices and good drinks. My kind of joint! Didn’t try the food but it looked really good! Not typical bar food at all!

Super cool atmosphere and is right on the water. The bartenders are attentive and the drinks are great. The prices are very reasonable. Wednesday is a great day to go, they have $ 3 you call it’s and $ 5 cabo burgers which are juicy and delicious. Would recommend for a chill and inexpensive evening.

If you are looking for an upscale bar, this is not going to be your next destination. If you are looking for a dive bar with great views of the water and cold beer from attentive servers– Cabo Clear Lake is perfect. We didn’t try the food– honestly I was a little afraid to (and I don’t usually consider myself such a snob). I will say that other people seemed to be enjoying their meals, e.g. people were eating, laughing and talking… and no one was hurling over the siderail. I am usually a draught beer kind of girl but we stuck with bottles and cans to stay on the safe side.
The inside had a certain smell to it that wasn’t exactly appealing, but I’m not letting this unfortunate fact affect my rating because I am sure that I too have smelled bad at some point in my life. Plus, we remedied the nasal issue by walking out through the door you have to kick to open (totally authenticates the divey nature!) leading to the deck. The water view is slightly tainted by big white signs that inform you not to throw your cigarettes overboard but the cute little christmas lights attempt to make up for that. There are also multiple ashtrays on every table. I’m no detective, but I think this means it’s a popular place to smoke.
I get the feeling this is a popular place for locals, but as outsiders we felt welcome and we met our goal– which was simply to find a bar on the water where we could drink a beer or two.

Tables on the deck with a stunning view of Clear Lake! While the menu was not too extensive, it had a variety of appetizers, tacos and burgers. The pico de gallo was SO fresh and the queso was tastey too. I’d also suggest the bloody mary here – very unique and good.

Overall I really love Cabo! You may be a little taken back at first because you have to drive around to behind the classic café and the front entrance looks a little uninviting, but stick around and you’ll like it here. The downstairs bar is cool, with lots of shade, boat docks and live bands. The upstairs deck overlooking the water is really nice on a pretty day. I love their specials, especially the all you can eat crawfish on Sundays! The tacos, queso, burgers, steaks and wings are great too! The drinks are a little over priced for the amount of alcohol you get, but that happens in a lot of bars. Everyone is very friendly and the wait staff has normally been very good. It is a little strange that a waitress waits on tables inside and outside, so sometimes if they get really busy the service gets a little slow. The food has always came out really fast though. They do get really busy on the weekends so come early and stay late!!! Lastly, I don’t really like that you can smoke inside the bar, but I normally just hang out on the outside decks, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

On the whole quite charming. The deck is beautiful on a cool night, and the regulars seem to be a friendly bunch.
Service is prompt and friendly, but what’s frustrating is the drinks are not mixed as strongly as they should be for what you’re paying.
Overall, would likely come back. The atmosphere is a lot of fun.

My best friend & I had to drive out to kemah & on they way back she suggested we stop & grad a cold one .
It looks a little rusty walking up, but once you get inside it gets better. Granted we walked in at around 4 pm on a Saturday afternoon so their wasn’t that many ppl there, but their was a solo performer on stage, the bartender was very attentive, the beer was cold, and the deck right off the water had a perfect view ! And the weather ON POINT !
She knew the place so we walked downstairs to the other bar, much more breezy & swings you can sit on by the water … Very relaxing & just a cool ass place to hangout!
As we we’re leaving through the upstairs bar the place started getting full with almost every table & chairs taken on the porch alone.
I haven’t been to the place at night, but my GF said it gets good. But just being thief for the couple hrs we were, I gotta say I enjoyed it & will definitely be returning, hopefully with the hubby

This place is very relaxing with great food! My boyfriend and I love that we live on the lake & that we can drive our boat up to it, relax and have a good time with friends! Steak night (Thursday) is a definite time to check it out!

A great place to have a good time! Cabo has a great variety of people and amazing music! You’ve got local bands that play upstairs and SouthBeat Music DJs downstairs to keep you dancing all night!!! I personally go to listen to great music near the water!

Cool spot with good food. It’s a bar so I’m not expecting fine dining. The best part is they have some awesome music and the staff is super friendly. A total local hang out with out drama.

I’ve been coming here for years, never left a Unilocal review. Cabo is always the place to be on a Friday or Saturday in clear lake. The bands and djs are some of the best in the area. They have really good food and drink specials during the day and has a spacious patio on the water.

First time visit to this place. This is truly a dive bar with staff that doesnt have a clue about customer service. We werent approached by the bar tender for atleast 35 minutes later after we placed an order for the terrible bar food they had on special. The place wasnt even busy. We wont be back.

Cavernous, dingy, and kind of creepy but on the other hand the beer was cold… so…you decide for yourself…

I’m not much on the bar scene, but the ribeye steak on «steak night» was truly an unbelievable experience. They took a while to deliver, but it was definitely worth the wait. This was my second time there… both times, good steaks. They probably make it up on the bargain price by stretching out the delivery time to the table, but the beer was cold and wasn’t bad for the money. I’ll definitely be back.

Great specials, the fish was fabulous. Service great and the beer cold. Perfect. Liked it so much I came back again with the same 5. Drank too much but we all had dinner. 3 went for the fillet which was outstanding and cooked to perfection. 2 had fish. Awesome also. We were happy campers. Now wheres the tylenol?

Okay so this is like a throwback to what I remember clubs being like in the 90s. It’s a little divey/​rowdy with a local crowd, but without the drama and constant parking lot fights. So you go up the stairs up front, come in, and it’s dark and a little dingy, but just enough to keep you interested. You might see some dude at the bar with a huge bird on his shoulder (seriously, wtf?) or some band playing at an eardrum-​rupturing sound level. Look close at the floor. Most of it is still a nice hardwood dance floor, though I’m sure it’s been abused.
The best part of course is that it’s on the water. You can come in a car or a boat… Well I guess you could swim too, but I’ve never seen it. Any way, they have slips on the water on the lower floor. Boat up and hop out. Downstairs is open air but covered. There’s sand, swings, picnic tables, and a bar. You can head up the stairs around the side and you come to the best part. There’s a huge balcony overlooking the lake. They have token bar games like giant jenga and hook and loop.
I can’t handle the club scene all the time, but cabo is a solid choice for a mild summer night.
