Buddy’s Alignment & Auto Repair

Bought my E350 there for alignment on the recommendation of a friend. They guys were friendly and allowed me into the shop to see what they see. They showed me a tire that was separating. I had looked but hadn’t seen it until they showed me (I knew there was an issue but hadn’t been able to source the problem).

I’ve taken my older car to Buddy’s about 10 times in the past year and a half. Every time, they go out of their way to make sure that the car is safely repaired. Sometimes they do tell me about something that they noticed besides what I come in for, but they’re always very honest about how high a priority the repair is, and they always show me the part afterward (even though I trust them implicitly at this point).
I really like that they have loaner cars and they’re always very flexible about when I pick up the car after the repair is done. This means a lot to me because we only have one car and my husband often can’t leave work right away to get the car.
Recently I brought the car in because it was making a weird noise. They did a repair of something inside the engine that was obviously broken (serpentine belt and belt tensioner). It turned out that this was not the issue that was causing the sound, so they did the labor on that for free. I have NEVER, EVER had a mechanic do that for me before. If ever something went wrong with a repair at a different mechanic in the past, I had to foot the bill.
I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews on here, because my husband and I are both VERY finicky about mechanics and will bolt at the first sign of shadiness, and we both LOVE Buddy’s Auto Repair. If we ever move away I’ll be totally sad that I have to go to a different mechanic.
I cannot recommend these guys enough!

Shady place. They pretend to be extremely professional and nice but once the bill comes they change. I was told a certain price and when the bill came it was more. I asked why and was laughed at, told it’s not really that much more. So? It was only about 10 more but why tell me a difference price to start with?
Next up was the things the «notice» while working on the vehicle. Engine mounts were bad and the serpentine belt was cracked. I took it to another shop and they told me none of these items needed to be replaced.
edit: Interesting reply from you. You claim I’m a competitor? You keep sending me coupons in the mail! Octobers was the «shocktober» deal.
It’s very interesting you think I got an alignment. I didn’t, but the review below is complaining about you changing the price did. Is that common practice for alignments? Since you decided to mention the cost of alignments I’ll comment. Network alignment is cheaper and Firestone offers a lifetime alignment deal for 180 or so. I don’t know what dealer you go to but I doubt it’s 200.
I’ll decline your offer to come back, even if you paid me I’d never bring my car there again. The shop I took it to after visiting you lifted the car and showed me the parts and how they were not worn.
Saying a competitors opinion is not good is laughable. They turned me away and told me I didn’t need to spend any money with them! You told me I need to replace parts, they told me I didn’t. How is their opinion bad? You didn’t show me the «worn» parts. They showed me the parts were fine. An honest shop wouldn’t give a fake list of parts that needed to be replaced or change the price on a customer, which another review claims you did. How are you an honest shop?

I have taken my car here many times for different services. They do an excellent job in all facets of their business. I have gotten alignment and oil services here. They do a very professional job at a great price. They also will allow you to bring in your own parts and will definitely save you money over the dealership. Brian and Randy are always there to help. Plus they also will give you a loaner car.

I took the family sedan in for an alignment at Buddy’s. I mentioned that the car had a new suspension and they said «alright» and informed me it would be $ 70. I brought the car in at my «scheduled» appointment time (first thing in the morning) and proceeded to wait 30 minutes before they took the car back and began work. After waiting hours for the alignment to be completed, they informed me they were raising the price to $ 100. They said it was because it took so long! (What???) While biting my tongue, I pay the bill and leave.
A couple of days later, the left front wheel falls off of the car. One of the fasteners on the suspension has fallen off. It seems that someone took a locking-​nut off but forgot to tighten it back on. This subsequently caused a catastrophic failure. Since nobody was injured, I put the car back together, kept an even head and phoned Buddy’s. I let them know what occurred and told them I would be bringing the car back to readjust the alignment. I drop the car off a little later that morning, and by the end of day two, I am forced to call and inquire about the car. They inform me that it is not their fault, they never touched the locking-​nut, and I will have to pay again for the alignment. (Later, I learn that 98% of the people who offer alignments, also offer a warranty (3 months — Lifetime) on their work. Not Buddy’s!) They also tried to indicate that there were problems with other «loose bolts» but that turned out to be a «wild goose chase» and had nothing to do with the suspension. Just more bad information from poorly trained individuals.
After I took the car to a couple of other alignment shops, I then got a better understanding of the truth. In order for this car to be properly aligned, you would need to remove the locking-​nut to make the necessary adjustments. The same locking-​nut that is in question. I guess it turned out to be Buddy’s fault after all!
If you are looking for a repair shop you can trust, Buddy’s is definitely not the one. As far as I am concerned, they are light years from being a reputable shop. They have a staff that exemplifies substandard quality and Managers that exemplify substandard leadership.

Had 2 commercial trucks and 2 cars serviced by Buddy’s. Everyone was very friendly and helpful as well as quick. Will use them again and would recommend them to everyone. They are also very reasonable.

Took our truck here last week to replace the shocks. For one, the quality of work was excellent! They were also very professional, friendly, and price was very reasonable compared to other local places. On top of that, they gave us a loner car as well! Will definitely be here again! Thank you!

I found out about this place after finding a business card on my car window, which honestly made me think they were some little crappy shop. But they promised an inexpensive oil change and free A/​C estimate and since I haven’t had working A/​C in a few years (I just moved here from a colder climate) I figured I would give them a chance. Most of the Unilocal reviews for these guys were pretty good so I figured why not.
I walked in and was greeted by the owners son who was very nice and I was surprised by how nice the little waiting area was with couches, tv, free coffe and free sodas!
They came back with a very reasonable estimate for the A/​C repair and even suggested a belt replacement. I asked what was wrong with the belt and without hesitation they brought me back to the shop so I could actually see the condition of the belt!
The repair was going to take a while so they offered me a loaner car free of charge! It was a nice little Mercedes-​Benz that was fun to drive around. They called me later that day saying a bolt had broken and they needed to order it but said I should just keep the loaner till it was finished. They even helped work around my work schedule.
Overall extremely pleased with this shop and have recommended it to friends and co-​workers already! Keep up the good work.

I am pleased to update the fact that Brian, the current owner of Buddy’s Auto Repair, has made things right. A couple of weeks ago I received a call and email from Brian about my experience and his desire to rectify what happened. It was just in time too, as my check engine light had been coming on an off. So, I took my truck in and was given a very thorough diagnostic exam for free. I ended up needing new plugs and sparks, along with a duct valve and Buddy’s replaced all of that for $ 100. Additionally, they made sure that the loaner car had a full tank of gas. I am very happy and will, for sure, reach out to Buddy’s in the future. I appreciate Brian’s actions!

I’m so glad I have a place and people that I can trust when I have any issues with my car. Randy is always such a big help. They also provide you with a loaner car, which makes things so much more convenient.

Great place! They were honest, and didnt rip me off like a dealership would. And, I got a loaner car while they worked on mine. I would highly recomend this business!

Brian helped me with my oil change. They are a family run business in which I felt treated me extremely well. I appreciate hard work and honest people. I paid normal price very comparable. I wouldn’t expect less because we all have families to feed. I will definitely go back for another oil change in the future. Thanks for treating me right, good customer service is hard to find…

Went in for a simple hour or so alignment for my Z. I had been noticing the steering wheel shaking a little bit. An hour later the tech comes to the front and tells me that my cars bushings are broken and that I need new control arms. Claims the «control arms are broken and wouldn’t hold the alignment.» I get handed an invoice for $ 1200 and am told that I need to order the new bushings for replacement. Thankfully I have extended warranty thru Nissan and they were able to diagnose the car and ensure me that my control arms are PERFECT and theres nothing wrong with the car other then some inner tire wear thats causing the shaking. I would NOT recommend Buddy’s Alignment to anyone, even if its only $ 80. Most shops should learn to help people rather then try and squeeze money out of them. I have no respect for shops that try and replace parts that aren’t broken and then charge a service fee of $ 35 when they didn’t even work on the car and wasted my time.

Wow! What a difference. Not sure if Jason isn’t there anymore, but we dealt with a woman we never spoke to before. They charged us $ 100 to run diagnostic (our engine light went off… again) and told us we had to replace the manifold for $ 1000. Then they also gave us a printout suggested a total brake replacement for $ 1k. Well trying to see if we could get a better price we took it to three more mechanics. The manifold DID have to be replaced and the $ 1k was within reason (we ended up buying a new one and replacing it ourselves for about $ 550.) However, the brake quote was a TOTAL SCAM!!! Our third mechanic said nothing was wrong with our brakes. Even our brake pads weren’t due to be replaced just yet. Sure enough, we got in there and all that maybe needed was replacing was brake pads which we did for ourselves for less than $ 100. We would have just shelled that out if we had the $ 2k to fix everything and didn’t look around. I mean $ 1k for brake pads that didn’t need to be replaced!!! Shame on you Buddy’s.
BTW, the «Brake» quote they gave us was for 2 brake pads at $ 84 each. 4 brake rotors at about $ 85 a piece and brake fluid. Parts $ 540 and labor $ 372.

I don’t usually give good reviews on Unilocal,but when I do, is cause they exceed my expectations. I been there for alignment, change breaks and timing belt, and I can see they did a great job for a great price, the guy I usually deal with is Rob, and he is great guy that you can trust with your car, he explains the problems, and does not try to overcharge you by making stuff up like I seen in other auto repairs.

I would give them a 0 if I could. I am looking for a location to get my alignment done, so I am calling around to local shops to see what their prices are and what kind of equipment they use. well I just got off the phone with the lady at Buddy’s and she asked what kind of car I have and I told her, and she told me it would be 100 bucks. I asked her what if I told you I had a Honda civic and she told me it would be 60 bucks. WOW! The alignment is the same process for my car and a civic.

I was recommended to Buddy’s from a good friend and was pleasantly surprised. Jason was very honest about what my car needed and answered all of my questions on it. I was quoted from Honda over $ 700 and I walked out of the door from Buddy’s paying $ 500. I did wait over 3 hours for my car and I wish they would have warned me it would take so long because I would have left and came back! All in all, I recommend Buddy’s!

We have been Buddy’s fans for some time — service was friendly and pretty fast. However, I refuse to be ripped off with inflated prices so Buddy’s is now off of my list.
I took our Pilot in to get an oil change and have a warning light checked out. Jason called and left a message to say that I needed a new battery (as I figured) and new rear brakes (also something needed).
So what is my gripe? I was quoted over the phone $ 350 for a rear brake job. Thinking this seemed like a lot I called Airpark Auto for a quote — $ 185 — $ 190 for rear pads and rotors is what I was told.
I called Buddy’s back and Jason promptly matched the price.
To be $ 20 or so off from shop to shop is one thing. To ask $ 160-​ish more is ridiculous and means I cannot trust their quotes moving forward.
My friend Jon has been going to Airpark for years and I will now be taking our cars there. If you are a Buddy’s customer I recommend checking prices to make sure you’re paying what you should.
Pros: quick, friendly
Cons: overcharging?

We’ve taken both of our cars to Buddy’s a few times now, in the last year. They’ve done everything from oil changes to new brakes and rotors. And this most recent job they did for us will be their last.
I would think that customer loyalty would be important to them, but I can tell you it absolutely isn’t. This latest go round, we needed a new battery and new brakes/​rotors. They then quoted us a price that was practically DOUBLE what Airpark quoted us. Really? You’ve serviced both of our cars multiple times and are still trying to take us for a ride? (no pun intended). Buddy’s quoted us something like $ 350 for new brakes/​rotors. Airpark? $ 185-​$ 190…that’s a HUGE difference and as soon as we called Buddy’s to see if they’d match it, they immediately agreed. Meaning, they were just trying to make an extra $ 160 on repeat customers.
Pretty bad business practice. We’ll be taking all of our future business to Airpark.

I have only great things to say about Buddy’s. They were incredibly helpful and very honest with me. I found them using Unilocal and I sought them out for a second opinion. Sun Devil auto in North Scottsdale told me I had THREE broken engine mounts and would have charged me over 850 dollars! Buddy’s shop looked at my car for free and informed me that I only had TWO broken mounts and quoted me at about 600 dollars. They got me into the shop the very next day and had my car completely fixed before the end of the same day. They also charged me 30 dollars less than the original quote. I could not have been happier. Excellent staff, excellent service. I would send every person to Buddy’s, it felt like an honest family business which is hard to find.
