The Home Depot

This place is hit or miss. Some people are really knowledgable, others are not helpful at all. The guys in paint are great. I recently ordered a custom sized door. I was promised 2 weeks, now they say its going to be 4 – 5 weeks (22 business days… for 1 door), claiming its the manufacturer. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. If I had known, I would have looked elsewhere.

I live near the Home Depot in Carpentersville. Let me tell you they are hands down the most friendly and competent group of people I know. This Home Depot however is not. They are very rude and horrible at customer service. I could not get any help over a simple product discrepancy. Which was their fault! Not to mention they don’t allow dogs which to me is ridiculous. I constantly bring mine to the other location and it helps tremendously with his training. I guess it figures since the people who manage this location obviously don’t seem to care about their customers whatsoever.

Of all the Home Depots I’ve been to, I can’t remember the last time I was in one where so many people knew every answer I had (directions, help, info, etc.).
I walked in and the guy at the first register was at the perfect spot because he knew where everything was.
Even more interesting is that later that day, I went to the Niles location and those people were just the opposite.
So yeah, Schaumburg Home Depot employees (on Barrington Rd.) have gone above & beyond in their training and becoming familiar with their store.

It’s been 48 since my issue occurred and still no resolution in sight. I’ve been contacted by the store twice, the home Depot social team once, the delivery and installation company once. All three wanting to know what when wrong, and all three wanting the other guys to figure it out. What I have is a broken washer, damaged dryer, and a screwed up wall because of it. Hopefully someone will do the right thing soon, admit they are in the wrong, and get me a replacement the washer and dryer or at least let me return the defective items. I’m OK with patching my walls I hear Lowe’s has great sales. The washer and dryer cost $ 1600 and now serve as paperweights.

These people that work here are rude and incompetent. Ordered some products from them, they came damaged and had to reorder the entire order. They called to say new order is in and no they can’t find it. Get your stuff together people

They have a good selection of plants which are generally a good quality. My beef with this place is that the cashiers are more interested in chatting than working. It’s nice that they’re friendly but it’s annoying to stand in a short line that takes forever because of the chattiness.

I went to the paint department today to pick up some ceiling white. I’d found what I wanted on the Home Depot website and it said there were 16 cans available at this store. When I got there, the employee who «helped» me was down right obnoxious and rude. This was today, and he was the only man in the paint department, but I did not see a name tag on him so I did not get his name, unfortunately.
He rattled off a few paint options far too fast for me to follow, and when I asked about the paint I’d seen on the website, he acted as if I was an idiot for wanting that particular paint. If it’s so bad, why does the store carry it? He walked away mid-​conversation to help someone else who had walked up, leaving me to wander the aisles not even knowing where some of the options he had told me about were. After that, he came back up to me and I showed him the website on my phone. He walked me over to the section where the paint was supposed to be and in an extremely condescending, rude tone, started telling me that the website was wrong and this was all they had. He acted so put out that I asked him about something that was supposed to be in stock that I walked out, leaving my cart right in the aisle.
When my sister and I called to complain about this man’s rudeness, the manager on duty said there was nothing he could do about it. Apparently it’s okay for Home Depot employees to be rude and condescending toward their customers. It’s not okay with me, and I won’t be going back.

Home depot countertop and cabinetry department very poor service no teamwork don’t know what thier doing they take your money do no follow up. you’re on your own once they have your money they don’t care when you’re in the store you have to find help all the workers walk around and never approach to customer how can I help you a bunch of retarded people having a good time and earn their wages no experience necessary to get this job! I suggest go to Lowes 120 percent better

I wish I remembered our cashier’s name, because she was a ball of sunshine — one of those people working retail who truly understands it. She helped us find things and was willing to discount damaged goods, plus she had been awarded points or stars (they have a big rewards board) for her great customer service. Well-​deserved! 5 stars for her, 2-​ish for the rest of our experience (product availability, prices, etc.).

This location is MASSIVE. Wow. I got everything I needed and the employees are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The gentleman that helped me out in the lumber department was an actual carpenter by profession. He gave some great ideas on our project and even suggested some tools that would make the job much easier.

My feels about home depot are mixed just like these reviews, yes they often have better prices off the bat and the easy return policy is nice to return items you find that are defective or you thought would work with your home repair project but ended up not using or not the right part. The major issue at these stores is the employees not being helpful. A lot of them are standing around conversing rather than helping out customers. Often you have to hunt them down to find anyone. They have a wide selection of tools and hardware items so it really can be your one stop shop. I have visited this location due to giftcards I have been given. In the future I think i will shop at lowe’s which has more 10% off coupons etc.

i have been in this store at least 10 times in the last month.

right to the item you need:) at times i needed a creative solution to
the task at hand and of course, they always come up with an ingenius
idea…i sincerely do not understand what the critics are complaining about.

This review was based on our experience with the carpet installation company GS Floor Design. When you order carpet, you pay all of the money up front and you won’t hear from anyone. Home Depot or the company will not call you to give you updates. You have to call and chase everyone, speak to managers. It’s a total waste of your time and money. Go somewhere else to install carpet in your home, it will save you a lot of headache.

If I can avoid heading into this particular Home Depot again, I will. On a Sunday morning, this place was filled with employees ranging from mildly friendly and helpful to downright snarky. And while I like a fair amount of snarky humor, I don’t appreciate it from a complete stranger who is supposed to help me or point me in the right direction.
Yes, this HD has all the items you’d expect, organized in typical fashion. But the thing is, it shouldn’t be a huge ask to have someone direct you to a specific brand of ant killer, or smoke alarms. Normally I have a perma-​smile on my face thanking people at Home Depot for their help or stating that we’re just fine, we know what we’re looking for. Not this past weekend. We actually needed a bunch of items, but left with just a few because I was getting extra irritated with people’s attitudes and lack of store knowledge. No thank you.
There are few things I like doing less than aimlessly walking around Home Depot. Considering there weren’t too many friendly faces, I’m certainly not jonesing to get back here any time soon.

I ordered a patio door $ 700 and after WEEKS of trying to get someone to install they finally called and said the install would be $ 650! After I told them a custom door would be better I’d rather pay for the door and install tops $ 200

Have to admit that they’ve changed their act here & offer great customer service. I don’t have to run people down to get help. Nice change of pace!

Went to the store tonight to get a few things with my birthday money and saw around 9 employees and not one asked us if the could help me with anything. On top of that two of the employees were working a product demo table and not once said anything. Again another disappointing trip the our local Home Depot. If it was not for the Husky brand tool boxes I would not even stop.

Went here to get lightbulbs and paint. I needed help finding the right size of bulb and the guy in the light department was very helpful and knowledgable. Then I needed help in the paint department and the girl was very nice and helped me pick out the right color I was looking for and then made the paint for me and wrote a note on the paint can to make sure we got the right price. At the register, the cashier was very kind and efficient.
Excellent service! I come here a lot and am never disappointed. Very friendly, nice, helpful staff! Love it!

Jason is a licensed plumber. We can find most things for the side jobs he’s hired to do BUT…
The reality is, it lacks supplying items to accomodate older homes. I’m talking about the condos and townhomes surrounding this location. For example, Home Depot does not carry the particular cartridge to replace the one in my Dad’s shower and the one in his neighbor’s bathroom. I’m guessing it’s the same for everyong who lives in Maribel and Knollwood. We were forced to drive out to the Loews on Algonquin in Rolling Meadows for them.
That is the good thing about Loews; it’s unfortunate the one across the street was forced to close its doors. The prices at Home Depot are also higher than its competition. What is not sold at Home Depot, you will most likely find at Loews.
I think the parking lot is a mess. It’s too big for the space; it has too many islands dividing it in a way that doesn’ t make any sense, creating a maze to get around and a challenge to get out!
The lot is too big for the lacking strip mall. Between Zippy’s, Blockbuster and the Loews across the street closing, the area is starting to look ghetto. We need retailers to open shops and fill in the empty spaces.

I love this Home Depot. Not only is it conveniently located, but their staff is more than helpful. I can not walk from one end of the store to the other without at least 5 people offering their assistance. Their staff will help you find anything you need, go get you a flatbed if needed and are some of the friendliest people ever.
I want to give a shout out to Catey who helped us out a number of times on Black Friday 2012. She has a great attitude and really made me feel like we could ask her for help with anything and she would be willing to help.
I noticed people walking in when we were checking out and Catey greeting them by name. Great way to get return business from me. Show me you care.
