In 1957, residential tile contractor, Fredrick W. Fischer, recognized the demand of a rapidly growing industry and the need to supply busy tile contractors with a wide variety of readily available products and opened a ceramic tile and supply store in Roselle Park, NJ – Garden State Tile Distributors, Inc. During that same year, Garden State Tile became the very first American Olean distributor in the nation.

Fredrick W. Fischer built this business relying on his personal knowledge, experience, integrity, and compassion for his fellow tile contractors. He also made every effort to provide the best possible products and service to his customers creating the maxim, «A Tradition of Quality.»
