Established in 2006.

Compass Sailing, LLC was started when Steve Horton, a lifetime sailor and sailing instructor, retired from public education and was able to devote time to his own charter and delivery business.

Business Owner

Steve has been a sailor for over 40 years and worked as a seasonal sailing instructor and delivery captain as time allowed during his tenure as a high school teacher and administrator. He has been a USCG licensed captain (100 Ton Master) and sailing instructor since 1983 and has also been certified by US Sailing. Steve has logged thousands of miles completing private yacht deliveries between the Carribean and the U.S. east coast. He bought «Zingara» a classic Morgan 384 in 2006 and opened Compass Sailing, LLC which provides day charters in the Savannah, Ga. area. At night, you can catch him playing rythm guitar with the Cicada Brothers in some of Savannah’s watering holes.
