I have fished with Capt. Rick twice and had a great time. So much so that fishing with him has become a part of my travel plans when I go to Savannah. He is very knowledgeable and knows the area well and where the fish are biting. He’s also personable and a lot of fun to hang out with. He’s loaded down with all the equipment you need, including plenty of live bate. His boat is clean and comfortable and his main objective is showing his guests a good time. Not sure what the bad review is about, but if I threw one of his rods into the water, I would offer to pay for it without hesitation. Thunderbolt Charters is one of the best fishing experiences in Savannah.

I wish I could rate Thunderbolt Charters as ZERO stars! Their professionalism is nonexistent. We found out, once on the water, that Capt. Reynolds & his son, Jeremy, aren’t even full time Charter providers. They both have full time jobs elsewhere. No wonder they couldn’t put us on the fish. My husband & I only caught 2 keepers on our 4 hour in-shore charter. If you go to their website, look for the date September 13, 2015. You’ll see a picture of a flounder, that was NOT a keeper, that Quasi-Captain Jeremy caught. And you’ll see a sentence that says«As usual, Jeremy did an excellent job putting them on the fish». I’m calling B.S. on that one! He was so busy on his phone the majority of the time, he couldn’t find the fish if he tried. Then, as I’m casting, the reel falls off of my rod, plunk, into the water. Jeremy got upset, copped an attitude & was only worried about getting the line back in without it getting tangled. My husband gave him the idea to pull the reel up by the line, as the line was still attached. Sometime after that, Jeremy must have called his father & advised him of what happened, because we were met by Captain Reynolds when we returned to the marina. They both insinuated that they expected us to pay for the damaged reel. Even going as far as saying«That’s about an $ 80.00 reel. Usually when one of our charters damage the equipment, we give it to them as it’s no use to us anymore». The audacity! They also insinuated that I must have untightened the reel & that caused the malfunction. I explained & showed the captain that my hands are small, therefore, I don’t hold the rod that far up. He threw his hands up, muttered something & walked off. After we hand Jeremy the check for the balance due for the trip(they only require a deposit when you book), he looks at it & states«A broken reel & no tip. Don’t come back! «. News flash Thunderbolt Charters: we knew an hour into the trip that we wouldn’t be back. And your tip? Here it is: MAINTAINYOUREQUIPMENTSOACCIDENTSLIKEWHATHAPPENEDTOTHEREELDON’T HAPPEN !!!

WHATFUN! Very Knowledgeable Guide for the Inshore Waters in Savannah. What a blast. We fished for about 5 hours in about 8 different spots. Caught lots of fun trash fish but also caught 10 sea trout and a redfish. Great boat ride out, beautiful day, Super fun. Get back to the dock and the Capt Jeremy cleans and filets our catch, bags them and gives us a bag of ice. Bring a cooler(you never know, you will probably catch dinner) I had paid twice the price for a charter in Miami and didn’t bring home near the fish. Really enjoyed this day. He took us around oyster beds. Just a great day. We had only 3 people in our group and I think he could 4 pretty easily. He will cast it for you too. He kept all baited and straight out there.(and once I threw it in the grass and he got it out)
