I’d lived around the corner from this place for 4 years, and never tried it out. Such great food! There was a fairly long wait for my take-out, but it was worth it. Everything I ordered was fresh, and well made. My bf wasn’t a big fan of the orange chicken(he’s a bit picky), but I thought it was good. I got the string beans szechwan style, and it was pretty bomb. I’ll be back to try out some different menu items, but will probably call in my order a bit earlier.

I love this place. Bomb Chinese food at a good price, plus … they serve beer. Pardon the pun, but … chuh-ching!

I always loved this place until after many deliveries they failed to deliver 2 hours after placing an order… shame

This is a first for me. I don’t often update a review, because I feel that a restaurant’s quality should be consistent enough to judge an establishment based on a single experience. Therefore, a single experience should be enough to recognize quality, or lack thereof. However, I can confidently say that I have ordered from Red Lotus enough times to know what to expect, and I consistently expect delicious food, expediently, and courteously from this establishment. Somehow, even in today’s economy, with several businesses having based their standards on lower prices and a «it is what it is» mentality, Red Lotus has yet to disappoint me. They are top notch and have become my «go to». The delivery driver is an awesome dude. He is courteous and personable. Being employed in the service industry, I appreciate consistency and personality. The food is always hot, superior, and delicious. I am always treated with respect and kindness, and I know that the food will be amazing, quick, hot, and consistent. I am not easily impressed, but I recognize quality when it is delivered to my door. Thank you, Red Lotus.

We come here a lot; I’m always happy with food and service. Favorite dishes are sweet and sour pork, beef lo mein, and cashew chicken. They offer delivery as well.

Not a fan. The food was greasy and burned. The egg drop soup was terrible. Definitely not what I was looking for, nor expecting. We were the only customers in the place at the time, but it took a long time to get our food, and to get our check. I will not be returning.

Really bad honey shrimp, General tsos and fried rice. Leaves a bitter after taste in your mouth. Really wish I could get my money back. It was gross. The hot and sour soup is bad too.

Ate here last night with my 12 year old for the first time. Employees were very nice, and friendly. Food was DELICIOUS! Actually, the best I’ve had in East County. We will definitely be going back!

Ordered takeout from here a few times since it is down the street from my apartment. What can I say? The prices are pretty fair with a decent amount of food. It’s takeout and satisfies my hunger, so I can’t really complain.

We really enjoyed this cute place! The next time we order we will ask for no mushrooms as both of our dishes for some reason came with them and had mostly Mushrooms. But super good food and great prices especially Lunch!!! I have tried every Chinese place in Santee and this is my favorite now!

Meh… What can I say about this place. I’ve given it a try at least 3 or 4 times and every time it was underwhelming. The fried rice is pretty bland(it’s never a good sign when the fried rice is bad). I’ve had a few different soups like the sizzling fried rice soup and the egg drop and they were pretty flavorless too. I can’t think of any thing that stood out except maybe the garlic shrimp which was pretty good. Please make your fried rice more flavorful!!! You know you found a good Chinese restaurant when the fried rice is a stand alone dish. Just play around with the recipe a little bit.

Love this place! Always come here at least once w week whether is for lunch or dinner. Hot burn pork and sweet and spicy chicken are my go to meals, especially with the fried wontons.

I love this place! I never used to care much for chinese food, but Red Lotus is amazing. Add on the fact that they deliver promptly and we have a match made in heaven. I recommend the cream cheese wontons and the kung pao chicken with low mein noodles.

Red Lotus is a family favorite, and they deliver VERY quickly and FREE! We love the Plum Tree Beef, House fried rice, Honey walnut shrimp, broccoli Chicken(ask for it in the white sauce) and cashew chicken dishes. The Pu PU platter is great, and the War wonton soup is yummy, though I have noticed a difference in the saltiness of the broth at times(bland), but a little soy is all it needs. I live very close, and love that they deliver, as most delivery restaurants in Santee are Pizza places. Ingredients are fresh, and service is friendly. Portions are large enough for dinner for two, and lunches/dinner the next day. We love this place, and will keep coming back.

Hands down the best Chinese food in San Diego. It’s family own, food is freshly made, and great customer service. If you come to Santee, you must stop here

I was so excited to have a chinese place right down the street from me. We ordered the orange chicken, and beef & broccoli. Wasn’t too bad. I’ve had better. much better. Now, when they ask you what kind of rice… you might as well get the regular white rice or no rice at all. We had asked for fried rice, and it was the hardest rice I’ve ever eaten, and it had no egg or anything in it. All it was hard rice with soy sauce. I threw away their take out menu and left overs. I wont be coming here again. I’ll drive a little farther for better quality.

Ordered take out for dinner for my wife and I tonight. We had the egg roll and fried shrimp appetizer, home fried rice and broccoli beef entrée. Their home fried rice has chicken/shrimp in it as well. The total for the meal came to close to $ 40 which was a little expensive. The broccoli beef was pretty tasty and the home fried rice was good as well. The fried shrimp appetizer was okay and I’ve definitely had better egg rolls from other places. Two stars overall but I’d try them again.

My favorite dish at the Red Lotus is the Kung Pao triple flavor, and I order it with less oil. It has a delicious sauce, with a little hint of ginger in the sauce. We have dined at Red Lotus several times, and we also like a crispy chicken entrée(not sure of the exact name), and the Chef’s Shrimp is a good entrée with white sauce. I would rate the Red Lotus anywhere between 3 and 4 stars. Usually the food is 4 stars, but on a recent visit, they didn’t quite heat up the shrimp enough, so it was a bit cool inside the shrimp. I recommend the white rice, because the brown rice can sometimes be too dry. They must do a lot of take-out and delivery orders, as when we dine in, it’s usually nearly empty. I recommend Red Lotus, because their sauces are tastier than the sauces at many other Chinese restaurants, without being too heavy.
