History

Established in 1992.

Originally Alpine Cycle Sport in Alpine, CA, the shop expanded and moved to Santee, CA. It has been and continues to be a family-owned business. Both owners are active in the sport of biking, including mountain biking, road biking, cruising the beach and boardwalk, and riding the local BMX tracks. We enjoy sharing our love of the sport with our customers.

Meet the Business Owner

Peter and Sylvia B.

Business Owner

Pete opened up shop in Alpine, CA, in 1991. It was called Alpine Cycle Sport and carried mostly mountain bikes. He joined friends Tuesday nights to do a run or two down Anderson Truck Trail.

Business was good and the Alpine shop was just too small. He packed up the bikes, moved to El Cajon, near In & Out, changed the name to American Bicycle Company and quadrupled in size. He added BMX bikes, along with parts and gear. He and his dad regularly visited Cactus Park and Kearny Mesa, often with a booth during race nights.

The shopping mall changed hands and the rent went up. Signs were pointing to possible economic changes; Pete moved again, this time to the Santee where the old gun shop used to be. They simplified the name to A & B Cycle and made some changes to the bike selection. A little older now, and a little wiser, the shop now carries beach cruisers, adult trikes and comfort bikes; bikes, we like to say, for the rest of us. We’ve also added a full line of scooters & parts.
