I have had some trouble with dentists in the past so I am a very nervous dental patient. I went to Dr. Adomian’s office for a dental cleaning and also because I had a crown put on last year and it was bothering me. I got a fantastic and practically pain free dental cleaning (I have very sensitive gums, so this is really a miracle for me) and Dr. Adomian put on a new crown in two subsequent visits. I was extremely nervous about my appointments to put on the new crown, but Dr. Adomian did an amazing job minimizing my discomfort and the great experience was truly eye opening for me especially when compared to other dentists I have visited. Dr. Adomian and his staff are professional, friendly, and punctual (important when you are going straight to work after the dentist). The office is clean and comfortable and there is nearby free neighborhood parking. I whole-​heartedly recommend Dr. Adomian.

Dr. Adomian and his staff are professionals and know how to make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. First time I met Dr. Adomian for a consult he was honest and forthcoming with me. He actually recommended I don’t proceed with a treatment because he didn’t feel it was necessary or I would get the results I wanted. He could just as easily sold something and I would not have known the difference.

Thanks for the cleaning (and for fitting me in at the last minute). I am gun-​shy when it comes to dentists –had one bad experience — and I am so happy to have a place I trust. They have only suggested necessary procedures and they made the cleaning a good experience. Thanks!

Dr. Adomian is great! He’s very caring, professional and explains things well if you have questions. His receptionist is great as well, she actually remembers you and takes care of you, and follows up if needed. It’s a practice that cares about their patients, thank you!

I found John Adomian when my hygienist, Kristina Esposito, took a position at his office. Knowing Kristina Esposito ONLY works for the top dentists, it was a no brainer to follow her there.
Dr. Adomian is an excellent dentist. What I truly like about him is his soft spoken, straight forward manner. He talks you out of things you don’t need rather than just give you what you want for the sake of making the money. He is truly an amazing dentist who has saved me a lot of money by having the ability to fix teeth without putting me through unnecessary dental work.
His hygienist, Kristina Esposito, is the BEST hygienist I have EVER had. HER WORK IS BEYOND THOROUGH! Her personality is engaging and I’m always surprised when she says «we’re done». Her engaging personality makes the time fly by and I look forward to my teeth cleanings. As I said earlier, I follow her because she will ALWAYS work with dentists who are the best in their field.
Her attention to detail has saved me what could have been costly dental repairs with her commitment to proper dental hygiene.
This is a dental office with an amazing and highly experienced staff.

Dr. Adomian is gentle, attentive, meticulous, and thorough. He and his team provide exceptional service and work together in a collaborative succinct operation. This afternoon, he took care of a filling with time and care and managed to have me in and out in less than 45 minutes. He didn’t rush, he didn’t cause pain, he talked me through the procedures, addressed any questions, fears, or concerns. I’m incredibly impressed and thankful for his exceptional service.

In a word, «INCREDIBLE» Dr. John is one of the best dentists in Southern California, and I have known quite a few. He is attentive and take the time to explain what you need. He has a special way about him and most importantly his shots don’t hurt! Best Dentist and Hygienist team EVER! I have been seeing Dr. Adomian for a few years now, and my entire family also now goes here too. I even recently moved out of state, but religiously come back twice a year for my cleanings and check ups. He is the nicest and sweetest dentist I have ever been to. He has a very patient and gentle manner. His Hygienists are amazing as well… always greeting me with a smile and some fun stories and laughs. I actually enjoy going to the dentist now! Dr. Adomian also diagnosed an issue that my previous dentist had caused and helped me remediate it by recommending me to an amazing Endodontist and Periodontist that could help. Highly recommended!

Wow. Came here via recommendation after being without a cleaning for 7 years for lack of dental insurance.
1) Making the appointment: I called, marilyn the receptionist was pleasant and the next available was within 3 weeks. I was told right away that the appointment would take 2 hours.
2) Clarifying my health insurance benefits: I called a couple days before my appointment. I had to give Marilyn my insurance plan, group, and ID number. She called me back the same day to let me know my benefits. (phew! exam, xrays, cleaning all covered: D)
3) The appointment: Office was clean and modern. Filled out some paperwork, and soon after I was taken inside. The staff has AWESOME bedside manner. ernesto the dental assistant, Dr. Adomian, Sheila the hygienist. they ALL explained to me what procedure they were about to do, why they do it, and what discomfort it might impart; and built genuine rapport that didnt feel forced, cold or artificial
4) Dr. Adomian: He’s great. Never had I visited a dentist that explained and educated me to the extent he did. From conducting a soft tissue exam, to measuring the gum pits so that the hygienist knew how far to clean, to examining the wear on the teeth due to teeth grinding/​TMJ, to showing me my xrays. He even told me the cost of a mouth guard he recommended and that Marilyn would look up whether it was covered by my insurance or not. In the end it was not, so i left the office without it. But not once during my visit did I feel judged or pressured as though I was with a used car salesman.
The only drawback is that there is no parking lot for patients. However there is metered street parking on Montana. Not to mention 2 hour residential parking. However, I found my dentist and will be coming back despite that.
Overall, the staff is thorough, honest, experienced, and straightforward, and sincere. And i got out of there in 2 hours, exactly as Marilyn had said. I highly recommend.

I don’t have insurance, so I used to go to Tijuana across the border for cheaper
dentists. I can not begin to tell you of the horror I went through! Every time I went to
the dentist which was once a week, I lost a day at work, waited long lines
at the border coming back and to make matters worst I got a root canal on a tooth
that I was going to loose anyway! Don’t get me wrong there are good dentist in
Tijuana, lots of friends got good dental work. Not everything was bad I got some
good tacos at the local mercado and amazing tequilas at a warehouse but no
luck with my dental work.
Back in the States my boss told me to try Dr. Adomian. I can not begin to tell
you how blessed I feel, why didn’t I listen to my boss a year ago and saved my
self so much misery! Dr. Adomian listened to my story as my tears rolled down
my cheeks and he gave me various solutions to choose from and also he explained
that some work was urgent! my gums were bleeding. He was respectful, made me feel comfortable and safe! He took time to explain to me every single procedure
on my teeth and gave me hope! To make the story short! I needed about 6 crowns,
the first time I was very nervous and scare (I have been seeing dentists since I was
10 years old) Dr. Adomian did my first crown smoothly and pain free! it also looked
and felt like my own molar, very natural and comfortable. Since last year I have not stopped going to my regular teeth cleanings and continue with my crown work.
I have to say Dr. Adomian is one of the best dentist I have had, and I had many!
I am so happy with all my crowns and have not had a problem since then.
Lesson learned «You get what you pay for» Dr. Adomian is worth every penny!

I went to this dentist years ago and had such a terrible experience with an inlay that it took me years to go to a dentist again.

I have been in dentistry since 1986.
I started in dentistry as a dental assistant, then became an office manager and since 1994 I have been practicing dental hygiene.
I have worked overseas, and on both coasts with numerous offices and staff and bar none Dr. Adomian ranks the highest on numerous levels.
I have never worked in a friendlier, more efficient office.
The staff is knowledgeable, professional, caring, patient and friendly.
The staff really are family, they are happy and highly likable.
The office atmosphere is welcoming.
The cosmetic dentistry is exceptional, he has transformed many smiles.
The office uses state of the art equipment/​technology.
The most succinct way to sum up Dr. Adomian is to state that he is conservative without being remiss and proactive without «selling». He listens to his patients, he educates his patients and he genuinely loves his craft and it shows.
If you are a dental phobic this is the dentist you have been looking for, great care/​time is given to getting to know each patient and their needs. Treatment here is customized and not your run of the mill generic care.
You will not be disappointed on any level.

This dentist is amazing– I had a bonding on a tooth fall out last night and his office fit me in this morning, and he stayed after they closed to work on my tooth. It looks better than my last one and the people at his office were SOOOOO nice to me.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate a good dentist and know I’ve found one!

Dr. Adomian and his team are as good as it gets when it comes to dental care. I’m a true dental phobic and for good reason given some of my early dental care. In the 8+ years I’ve been a patient of Dr. Adomian’s, I have been constantly impressed with the care and treatment I’ve received. Whether a routine cleaning, an easy filling replacement, or a more complex matter (I’ve had it all!), I’ve always been treated with respect and concern. He’s provided great advice when it comes to the more complex matters… it’s always about what’s right for me vs. the most expensive treatment. I’ve referred a couple friends and have always received a call/​note afterwards from my friends thanking me for turning them onto an office/​dentist that really puts the patient first.

Me? Giving 5 stars to a dentist? I’ve shocked myself!
So those of you who know me in real life know that I am the. worst. dental. patient. ever. And I read all these Unilocal reviews of dentists where everyone’s all «I’m such an anti-​dentite but I love going to Dr. So-​and-​so.» No, I’m pretty sure I’ve got you beat. I cry at dental cleanings. I cry getting check-​ups. And my teeth aren’t *that bad* that I’m a cash cow for a dentist. So basically, they have to put up with my debilitating phobia for no good reason.
Anyways, I got a referral to Dr. Adomian from one of my colleagues. He’s located on the swanky Montana strip, right by Roosevelt Elementary. There’s on-​street metered parking and free parking on a lot of the side streets, though I usually take the bus because of my anxiety. The waiting area feels more like a little house with laminate floors and some of the charm you see in older Santa Monica buildings. And it doesn’t smell like a dentist’s office which is always a plus.
The exam rooms are separate from one another though don’t have doors. Everything is really clean, but not super-​high tech like those dental spas where you’re catching up on the latest sitcoms while simultaneously getting a foot massage. In «Goldilocks and the Three Little Bears» land, everything is «just right.» Not unmodern or unclean where you’d doubt yourself for letting someone stick sharp pointy things in your mouth, but also not über-​high-​tech where you think it’s all just smoke and mirrors. Just, comfortable. Or as comfortable as you can be when you’ve already taken a valium to go for a cleaning and your heart is racing and tears are running down your face. I told you I’m a dental-​phobe.
Dr. Adomian is really nice and though I’m not an expert on dentists I do believe that he’s a very competent one. He doesn’t beat around the bush with what’s needed to appease an (insanely nervous) patient, but also goes out of his way to avoid unnecessary treatments. He took his time with me despite being a total wuss over minor stuff, and his assistants followed suit. I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort (that wasn’t self-​inflicted), and he calls you in the evening after you’ve gotten a filling to make sure everything’s okay. Does your dentist do that?
In addition to Dr. Adomian, the other staff is really stellar. I’ve had my teeth cleaned by Christina, who really should consider a career as a standup comedian. She did a really thorough job, again took her time with a really bad patient, and had me laughing and smiling by the time I left. Marilyn, who is the receptionist/​admin is very helpful and straightforward with everything from scheduling to billing. What’s even better is that she promptly replies to e-​mails which is great when you don’t have time to call during the day. The staff all really cares about both doing a great job and working well with even their worst patients. Maybe I’ll evolve into a slightly better patient. Who knows?
You may think from the swanky address that this is one expensive DDS. While I do have dental insurance which covers most of the costs, what I do pay is in-​line or less than many of my colleagues who go to other dentists. Additionally, I keep hearing that dentists in LA will try to gauge you for money — recommending veneers, extra crowns, etc. They don’t do that here. In fact, I was told point-​blank here not to get my teeth whitened because of the anatomy of my teeth (long story) and while even my mom (a former dentist) has mentioned the possibility of veneers, here I got more of the «if you don’t need them, why go to the expense?» Also, while some dentists in town like to put down the work of others, Dr. Adomian is always very positive and never talks trash. That’s class for you.
While I still can’t say that I don’t get dental anxiety, I am very happy to have Dr. Adomian as my dentist and his staff for all of the cleanings and what not. I’ve had only positive experiences with them and really appreciate all that they’ve done to make my dental visits as pleasant as possible. The only slight inconvenience is that they don’t have many night/​weekend openings (they’re open for cleanings only 1 Saturday morning each month, and stay open until ~6 on Thursdays) though they open at 7:30am. This is fine for me, since I work in Santa Monica but my husband works in downtown so the scheduling is a little tricky. But, trust the dental-​baby here, it’s worth that slight inconvenience.

Thanks to a dear friend I discoverd this wonderful dentist. I have a bit of a phobia after several bad experiences — I didn’t rate them all… almost too bad to think about still. **shudder** Surprise, surprise, I needed almost no work to get my teeth back in fighting condition and now I’m on a regular visit schedule that I don’t mind at all since every single person who works here is A MAZE ING.

I broke a tooth on Father’s Day (2010) and called Dr Adomian on his cell phone. As I wasn’t in pain he said to come in on Monday and he would take care of it.
I live in Thousand Oaks… over the course of the hour it took me to drive to his office in Santa Monica I thought of the dreadful experience I’d face. The glop he’d put in my mouth to make a mold to produce the cap, the novocaine, the drilling, the temporary cap, then the return visit a week later, etc.
Instead, Dr Adomian’s staff took a digital X-​ray, which was immediately put up on a computer monitor in front of me and then Dr Adomian came to to begin the process which included the use of 3D imagining. Dr Adomian himself crafted the cap, again on a computer that was right next to me, and produced the final cap in his office. In other words… not gloppy mold, no temporary cap, no return visit (there was still the novocaine and drilling)… and in 90 minutes I was finished and out the door (I am a geek… the 90 minutes didn’t include the extra 15 minutes Dr Adomian spent with me discussing the technology and showing me how they took the 3D data and produced the cap in a machine in his office that is no bigger than a microwave oven).
The best part… I was expecting pain that night… nothing, nada, zip. If you are like me and hate going to the dentist I highly recommend giving Dr Adomian a call. I may have to start going more often.

John Adomian is a great dentist with a great staff and they take my CIGNA dental plan. A USC grad, Dr. Adomian is personable and clearly knows his stuff. My CIGNA plan is mediocre but Dr. Adomian more than makes up for what CIGNA lacks.
