Not the friendliest guy around — but that’s okay. Shoe repair shops have dwindled to a lost art. I was excited to find this shop on the Central Coast. However, I am use to getting my shoes back looking brand new, from the shop I used for years where I used to live. I had two pair of shoes and asked for new heel tips, and needed the leather on one of the heels fixed(I hit one of those cement holes just right and pushed the leather up the heel!) When I picked up the shoes, the leather was crumpled still, glue all over, and it did no look good. Not sure if it was the best he could do, or he put no effort into it. I threw the shoes away when I got home! It was a waste of money.

Based on the great reviews, I took my beloved New Balance shoes in to have a small seam restitched. Van did it on the spot for an incredibly reasonable price. No waiting. No leaving my shoes. LOVE this shop!!! Will definitely tell everyone I know about them and will take anything that needs fixing in to Van!

My vintage Gucci purse needed to be restitched in a small area, the owner did it right there and only charged me 3 dollars the stitching matches the original. Great place!

the zipper on my favorite orange-ish suede purse was broken. i stopped by eugene’s on my way home from work and he said«usually i don’t fix zippers.» but he said it as he was looking closely at the bag and gently pulling on the zipper to see where the problem was. 5 minutes later the zipper was repaired and the bag i got on a trip to palermo was as good as new! he charged me only $ 3 and i only had a $ 50 bill. i am really making an effort to carry cash because i know that credit/debit card fees are killers, especially for small businesses. plus, the wrong people are making money off of them. he said«just bring $ 3 by next time you are in the area!» wow. i love the small-town feel even here in the largest city in santa barbara county. a few months back he also repaired a pair of leather boots for me and it cost only a few dollars. excellent quality, courteous service and out-of-this-world kindness – i’m sold!
