Specialties
O’Sullivan’s Pub is the alternative culture center of Santa Maria. We provide a warm classic pub feel with just the right amount of eclectic art, music and culture mixed in. We focus on Craft and import beers, as well as amazing local wines.
The Pub has rapidly been changing and is currently expanding the premises. We currently have Santa Maria’s largest and most exciting beer selection, and will be expanding to more draft offerings in 2016.
Live entertainment featuring local and touring Alternative, Indie, Rock, Punk, Reggae, Ska, Alt-Country and other left-of-center musicians is featured when we find acts that we think really stand out.
History
Established in 1984.
Originally founded as a small local bar called The Playroom in the ’60’s, O’Sullivan’s Pub came into existence when the then new owners decided a change of theme was necessary in 1984.
After changing hands twice since 1984, Local bartender and all around great guy Josh Snow bought The Pub from Jim Battles in early 2009.
Josh immediately set to work instituting a series of changes, both physical and intangible to the pub to create, in his words, «A place for everyone who doesn’t have a place»…that is to say, a place where folks from all walks of life can feel welcome… a place that’s a little different than «the norm».
2014 promises to bring even more changes with the expansion into the former Fish-n-Chips next door to the pub premises and an all new menu and expanded draft selection.
Meet the Business Owner
Josh S.
Business Owner
Josh has been in the Bar and Restaurant business in and around Santa Maria for a number of years before taking the plunge and becoming an owner.
Having experienced hundreds of cookie cutter bars and pubs, both locally and away, Josh has a firm vision for O’Sullivan’s Pub rooted in his love of great beers, food, and wine as well as a passion for music, art and culture.
Josh’s knowledge of beer and music and his love of alternative culture guarantee that his place is unlike any other in the area, but instantly familiar to those who appreciate his vision.
You can find him behind the bar almost every morning, and some nights too… he loves to talk music, old cars, motorcycles, guitars and especially has a love for vintage Vespa and Lambretta Scooters!
