After reading so many negative reviews of this business, I was very hesitant to bring my car in for a smog check. After stopping by two other places on the El Camino in Santa Clara, which were open but no employees to be found, I stopped here.
I walked in and was immediately greeted. I asked and was told that a smog check was $ 40. I was told that it would take about 20 minutes to complete. I turned over my keys and they began the smog check. As I was reading the other reviews of this place on Unilocal,I noticed an instant deal for a $ 35 smog check. I asked if they would honor this price and I was told that they would.
Ten minutes later, my car was done. I paid the $ 35 and got the completed paperwork. Quick and painless!
I would recommend this business if you need a smog check.

Two Stars for dishonesty. «Free inspection!» they said. «We’ll take care of you!» they said. «Your axle needs replacing! You shouldn’t drive on it!» they said. They should’ve tossed in a free snake oil change for a bargain $ 25.oo…
Yes, I’m not a car guy so I paid $x00.oo. My mechanically inclined co-​worker was like, «The axle is arguably the strongest part in your car…»
Why not One Star? Because they made good on their promise to «take good care of me.»

One star because it was cheap and fast. Other than that this place sucks! I went for an oil change, with a coupon for them to top off all fluids, air pressure and check the engine for problems. I’m leaving and I try to use the windshield wiper fluid to make sure they filled it up, and OF COURSE THEY DIDN’T. I go back in to get it done, and the guy fills it up with WATER. What a CHEAP ASS PLACE. MAKES ME WONDER WHAT ELSE THEY SKIMPED OUT ON!

These guys are straight up crooks! My service engine light was on and I knew it had something to do with my gas cap or tank. They call me and tell me it will be $ 1100 to replace the entire gas tank because of a «hole» in the tank. I asked to see this «hole» it was not a hole but a lose part. Long story short they got $ 70 out of me to give me a bs quote on work my car didn’t even need.
Stay away from this place they are very dishonest!

I needed to get a brake and lamp inspection for the for one of my cars, and found that the prices vary quite a lot. Here, the price with their on line coupon was $ 60 (there’s a place in Mountain View on Evelyn where the price was over $ 200, and the guy I talked with kept insisted that MV was expensive and the tests required special, expensive equipment– yeah, right!) With all the bad reviews, I was a little wary, but decided to roll the dice. As it turned out, the were just a little backed up, and I did have to wait a bit, but not long enough to be annoying. Once it was my turn, things went quickly. They were professional, and I overheard a few conversations with other customers in which they pointed out potential problems before doing any work, and suggested work-​arounds.
I’d go there again without hesitation.

2 bad things have happened on separate visits.
Once, I did oil change and tire rotation. Afterwards, I noticed my gas mileage was worse. I don’t know if it was caused by this shop or caused by something completely unrelated. I’m still trying to fix this bad mileage problem.
Another time, I did oil change and afterwards as I was driving, I noticed the wheel alignment was off. The car was veering to the right. When I was driving to this shop, the wheel alignment was fine. But after the oil change, all of a sudden, the wheel alignment was off. I had to go to another shop to do computerized wheel alignment to fix the problem.

Last month we took our 2010 Altima to Precision Tune to get a smog check. We had Pennsylvania plates and never had this done before. After a few minutes, the owner called me over to say there was a problem. His machine was not registering any voltage when plugged in under the dash– in fact, it registered nothing. He offered to try to fix our electrical system for about $ 150 since he couldn’t perform the smog test until this was done. Since my car was otherwise operating perfectly, we left and took it to another shop who told us that there was nothing wrong with our car and in fact, it passed the smog check without problems. The motto of this story– if you come from out of state looking for a smog check, buyer beware!

Came here for an oil change and smog test because they had coupons in Pennysaver. I had other problems with my car and talked to them about it. They were very straight up with me which I like and informed me on plenty things on my car. Never pushed me to fix a lot so I know they weren’t trying to just get money out of me. I had a big savings on car maintenance so I was willing to drop what was needed. If anything they helped me save money by telling me things they personally do with their cars and told me things that I didn’t necessarily need to fix just yet.
Very informative. Very helpful. Very honest. I work in the area now so definitely thinking of making this my go to place for maintenance.

Was out with my wife and wanted to get a nail pulled out of my tire. They wanted to charge me more than they had charged my wife in the past for the same service on her car because my car is electric. Smooth move and a great way to lose future business servicing my wife’s car. Seems like these guys are a bit amateurish.

I’m going to tell you a story.
It’s a short story, but it’s a true story. It’s a story you may not believe. And I can understand that, because I still don’t quite believe it myself.
Went to Precision Tune today, on the advice of The Boyfriend. I needed to get the putt putt smogged. Arrived around 12:30 and was informed that there was one car ahead of me which was cool since I was hungry and Dennys was right next door.
Noticed while I was checking into Dennys that Precision Tune offered a smog check if you checked in there for what I thought said $ 35.00, as compared to their published price of $ 50.00. Yay me. Fifteen bucks is fifteen bucks.
My car was ready even before I’d finished my rather horrible breakfast. With all the coffee available in the world today, why does Denny’s have to serve such slop? I digress … Anyway, back I went to get my car and asked if I could use the Unilocal check in. «No problem,» said the friendly guy behind the counter. So I checked in but didn’t get any kind of code or anything from Unilocal to give the service guy.
We tried to puzzle it out for a few minutes until he finally said not to worry about it, if it turned out to be a problem he had my phone number and he’d call me. Then he rang me up and gave me my receipt to sign.
$ 8.25. Yes. Seriously. I’m not lying.

I came here by accident. I thought it was Bruno’s which is actually right next to them. There was absolutely no customer service and I was charged 25 bucks for a switch replacement. I don’t even know if I over paid or not. It’s not a place I would recommend.

Went in for an oil change, paid for the full synthetic service at $ 49.99, my car needed 2 extra quarts which were an extra $ 7ea which is reasonable since Mobile 1 is about $ 5-​$ 6/​quart at automotive stores. Went next door to Denny’s and ate a steak. The car was done when I got back even though 2 people were in front of me. Very fast, especially compared to the dealership and considering it takes about 5min for the old oil to drain anyway.
Don’t be cheap, if you’ve ever changed your own oil you know it costs about $ 30 at least for cheap oil and no name filter at the auto parts store. If you have the bottom end car that takes 4 quarts of the cheap stuff you are fine with the $ 16.99 coupon which is a steal. Even if you need more or better oil $ 30 is probably less than it would cost to do it yourself.

Okay, So like other Unilocalers here that had the 16.95 coupon. I also had the coupon. I called on Sunday to see if they were open. Indeed they were. Explained that I had the coupon but it was only good for 10w30 which my Accord takes 5w20. I asked him how much is the additional cost from the coupon price and if i could bring it in. He said 23.80 and bring it in anytime before 4:00pm. So I arrived around 1:30 after having lunch with my son and fiancé. And the Indian guy in the front said he does not take coupons on Sunday. I explained to him that I called and nothing in that nature was mentioned. He did it for that price after a few retarted looks on his face. My BIGGEST concern is that he did not fill my oil with 5w20. I think he still put 10w30. My car seems like its lacking power ever since I changed my oil there. I checked the dip stick and for sure it is clean oil but still very skeptical about putting the CORRECT oil in my engine. Never again I will come here. I’ll just go to Alum Rock Auto Care where they charge 20 flat (if your paying cash and have a compact vehicle). But they arent open on Sundays :(

Even with the low sub-​2 star review this place has… I still went here for an oil change. I had a $ 16.95 coupon. What could go wrong?
Big mistake.
Ended up costing $ 32 for a simple oil change in which I had a $ 17 oil change coupon for. The reason is for this extra charge for a «cartridge» type filter. Then more BS talk about how they do a quality job of actually changing filters and very carefully (unlike other places) they said.
This place looked shady, the workers seemed shady. Bottom line, DO NOT COME HERE.
Listen to all the reviews (not just mine). All the Unilocalers were/​are right! This place is a complete joke. So even if you have a legit coupon… they’ll find some way to rape your wallet over and over. There’s really no way I could recommend this place to anyone.
