I am so happy every time I see Amber! She is absolutely lovely to talk to, and she does an amazing job on my hair. I see her for my cuts and color, and am so impressed with the effortless, natural look that she achieves.
The salon itself smells great and is a nice «high end» feeling atmosphere, even though the prices are pretty reasonable!

I got my hair cut and colored by Salim and he was absolutely amazing! The highlights are perfect and my hair looks super healthy. Highly recommend him.

I got a great cut from Ashley about a month ago. She was extremely patient and listened to all of my concerns. She checked in throughout the cut to make sure things were going in the right direction, and I ended up with exactly what I wanted. It’s rare to get a great cut for $ 40 (no blow-​dry), so I will definitely be back!

I used to live in Santa Barbara and had my hair cut here regularly. I went back today after a several year hiatus and had my hair cut and styled by Salem. I am extremely pleased with the haircut and the time and care he took to style it. He spent time finding out what I wanted and made me feel good about my decisions (I wear my hair natural and don’t color it.) I did miss the hand massage, but I was late for my appointment, so that might have been a factor. ks

I’ve been getting my haircut by Walter Claudio at Walter Claudio for about 3 years. The salon is beautiful and the staff is gracious and courteous. Walter does a fantastic job on my hair. His cuts are the best I’ve had in many years. The keys to a great haircut are to go to a great stylist like Walter and then let him do his thing. Listen to the expert.

This was the worst hair experience I’ve ever had. I usually keep negative reviews to myself, but in this case I am making an exception because I hope others can avoid what happened to me. I went to one of their most senior colorists, and he absolutely fried my hair. Not only was the color one that wouldn’t occur in nature, but the process destroyed my hair. It broke off and fell out for weeks after. Thank goodness I have very thick hair, because if I didn’t, the damage would still be very visible to all — even after 3 months. Most sophisticated colorists know that Aveda color products are harsh and to be avoided. Unfortunately this salon uses only Aveda, and their employees fail to know better. Since my experience I have heard of similar experiences with this salon. Avoid it!

I was in SB for my step son’s wedding this past weekend the Harbor View Inn referred me to this salon.
I requested a updo for myself and I made a appointment for my 8 year old granddaughter. My hair came out okay, however I asked for Anabelle’s hair to be curled we were there at 12:30 the wedding was at 4:30. By the time we got to the wedding her hair was straight with NO curls it was very disappointing and to think I paid to have it done, unbelievable.
I also asked if the make up artist had time to apply make up they did not so, I asked if he just could apply eyelashes, they agreed. After 3 tries and lots of glue he looked at me and said this is not working, if I had a pair of tweezers it would have helped the salon couldn’t find any.

1 star for the receptionists who have repeatedly lost/​changed my appointments. One time I showed up for the first haircut with Erin (who is fabulous) and they had no record of my appointment, which is weird because how would I know the stylist’s name and that she was due to work that day?
I made another appointment with Erin and a colorist after having a color consult and they had it listed on the wrong day, with the colorist also due to cut.
5 stars for consistently good work by Erin.

Quite by accidentI tried Ashley Genet at Walter Claudio. She turns out to be smart, attractive and most important, a great instinctive hair stylist. She gets it! I had been used to a very expensive West Hollywood star cutter (funny but with attitude!) and here is Ashley inventively improving her cut, but very effectively. W/​C are fair and reasonable in pricing, and have a pleasant salon in a great location on Figueroa St, in downtown SB.

I had a great experience here. Got my hair done by Eren, who did a great job. And had an amazing shampoo/​massage by Kenny. Did I mention he gives great hand massages too? I will be coming again.

Been going with my daughter for a long time never had a bad hair day !We have been going to WALTER AND JESSIE for many years. I think Walter has a natural flair for blondes, and Jessie always does a beautiful job of my twenty fwo year old daughters hair. She cuts well, and now that she is in LA and grown up she still drives up to Jessie!
Wendy also does great facials, and is attentive and goes the extra mile.

Great experience! I loved my haircut and the service was excellent.

I had a hair color service after meeting with a stylist for a consultation. However, my hair was not done by the person who I consulted with but instead by a nervous trainee. I was sent out the door with wet hair without anyone even checking to see how the color processed. The experience was worse going to have your hair done at a beauty school but I paid triple the price for services. The results were an unnatural plum color with uneven grey coverage and a hair dye stain on the side of my head. Absolutely awful.

I have been here a few times. The other negative reviews ring true for me.

Wow this place has really gone downhill! This use to be my go to salon when I lived in SB. I came up from OC to visit my family and celebrate my birthday. I set up an appointment with Lauren. I got robed up and ready for relaxation. The receptionist pointed to the color area and said to grab any available seat. Well I sat and sat and sat, no one said hi or told me they would be right with me. It was a solid 25 mins if not more. I had enough and walked out and no one said anything as I left. Pretty much ruined what was suppose to be a special and relaxing day. If you want good service I suggest Darin Jon or Cheri BiBi if you want good service and happy people!

You can hear the orchestra of 2am Manhattan in the brick and mortar walls. The feeling of getting your hair cut here is like sneaking away from the chaotic party with the impossibly cool cigarette daydreaming painter to their summer studio loft. After ripping your clothes off to be painted, you return to the party a towering manicured Phoenix ready to conquer.

I’ve come to this salon on a friend’s recommendation because I loved her hair. The Aveda color is amazing, and everyone there is so friendly. All of the employees work like a team – there’s no ego here, just skilled technicians.
At first I was worried because the girl I went to first moved, but I’ve had several different people cut and color my hair, and it comes out awesome every time.
I have no desire to try another salon – it can take years to find a great one, and I feel so lucky that I found one on the first try.

Amber is AMAZING! I am still getting compliments weeks later. She is so skilled and professional. I’ve gotten my hair done at a lot of places and Amber by far did the best job. I HIGHLY recommend her. My hair looks natural and the color looks great with my skin. Go to see her! You won’t regret it!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, save yourself pain, money and time and DO NOT, BY ALL MEANS EVER GO TO THIS SALON!
If I could give this place negative stars, I absolutely would. As a women and someone who cares about hair, I have been to many salons and know what good service is. That being I am also understanding and patient and will work with a salon is things do not go as planned.
I was very excited to have booked an appointment with Mr. Claudio himself. I was in need of a good hair cut and was sure he was to deliver. 4 hours later and $ 200+ poorer, I could have had a worse experience. I came in and told him what a wanted: a cut and style for my well maintained but sometimes frizzy hair. For 4 hours, I was not sure what had just happened. 5 people had worked on random sections of my hair with no skill, talent or level of professionalism. Nobody knew what they were doing, especially Walter. He snipped random hair chunks, disappear a while and then just fluff my hair. He missed sections with his foils and even himself would say that «oh, i missed a spot.» In the spots that he missed, he went back with Q-​TIP (A Q-​TIP!) to try to fix them, and then told me to come back during the week to see if he could fix things. The stylists (I don’t think they even deserve that title) yanked on my hair for over an hour without ever actually drying or styling it. I am left with hair that looks worse then when I came in and an itchy scalp.
Please ignore the fancy titles or things you have heard about this salon. The staff and owner himself are unprofessional and beyond disappointing. This is not the way a client should ever be treated. The salon is pretty, but the hair you leave with is not.
