Good food, good folks and it’s a local business. Can’t go wrong … burgers are good, lamb gyro, subs… way better than the ‘golden arches’ or those other fast food places.

Just ok. A little out dated, not the cleanest, food was just ok… a little overpriced.

Been coming here for years. Love the lamb gyro and they are the only place other than cold stone that sells cotton candy ice cream that’s worth the money. Love love love this place.

I will start by saying that this is a really nice, clean restaurant with super friendly staff and perhaps my menu choice was not something that I should have gone with BUT my pulled pork sandwich was super vinegary so I am not sure what the food actually tasted like. My husband had a burger which was good and the children’s corn dogs were good too. I would say stick with the basics.

With an Easter color scheme and a décor that’s quite dated, Sandston Bistro serves cafeteria quality food at reasonable prices. I can’t quite understand how it gets 4.5 overall stars, as the average posted review seems more intent on keeping this place in business rather than comparing it’s value to other restaurants in the area.

My daughter and I set out to find a place with shakes. Glad we found this place. Also enjoyed a delicious gyro. Nice people.

Great old fashioned diner. Great milkshakes, good onion rings and a wide selection of traditional diner fare(e.g., burgers, chicken nuggets) and they’ve thrown in some healthier alternatives(I.e., veggie burger, salads). Worth the extra drive for road food far superior to the typical fast food.

Came here for a late dinner last night with my band. Good food, low prices and great service… this place is casual without being tacky. Definitely a fun places to take friends and family of all ages. I had the ¼ burger(no mayo), chicken parm sandwich and Mint Moose Tracks shake. The sandwiches were good and the shake was great. My companions shared a banana split and couldn’t stop raving. I’d definitely come back if I were in the area again.

Cheeseburger and fries along with a chicken gyro were great. Perfect local hangout we stumbled upon while looking for a Wendy’s. They have subs, sandwiches, burgers, gyros, salads, hot dogs and pasta dishes. If that wasn’t enough ice cream! Lots of choices with sundaes, banana splits, shakes, malts and floats. Will definitely find a reason to travel this way again

This place is great! They have great milkshakes, especially the chocolate malt! I think their milkshakes are better then most of the places around this area. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Great little place! Seems to be family owned and a neighborhood gathering spot. Excellent sandwiches and great milkshakes with real ice cream in about a zillion flavors. It’s almost like stepping back in time about 40 years.

Was at a shop a few blocks down and happened upon this place as we left. Saw that they had ice cream and decided to stop for lunch. The food was great. Very friendly environment, and they still do the hand scooped Hershey ice cream there. Wide variety of food available. Basic burgers and fries, but also had subs, pasta, corn dogs and salad.

This place always makes me happy to visit. The person who I believe to be the owner always smiles and is very friendly. The milkshakes are thick and prepared very quickly. In hotter weather this place can be packed full of people. There are always families with kids. The food options are pretty wide ranging. My parents have eaten italian food here and loved their choices, I’ve always had a cheeseburger when visiting. I believe the ice cream is all hershey’s ice cream. There are several cases of ice cream to choose from.

Ran across this great little diner by accident after visiting the Virginia Aviation Museum with my two boys. A neat, clean dining area, an extensive menu, and great service combined for a wonderful late lunch experience. I had a large cheeseburger that came with hot, crisp fries. My younger son got spaghetti and meatballs and my older son got a hamburger. All were excellent. The older son and I got limeades which included fresh-squeezed limes but their sugar syrup was quite there. A little too sweet and not enough tang. Bill’s Barbeque has spoiled us for any other limeades. The milkshakes afterwards, however, were perfect. Decadent combinations of Hershey’s ice cream with just the right amount of whole milk(if I’m already splurging on a milkshake I don’t want to ruin it with 2% or skim milk). A great finish to a great day out with the boys. Sandston Bistro & Shakes is now a regular stop whenever we’re out in the East End.
