The worst service ever! Owner is being cheap not to hire any waitresses and waiters! She’s freaking rude!!!

If at all a late and very rude service is expected, it’s here at Yi Ping. Food never tasted better after such service.

Glad someone told me about this spot and took me. I was quite impressed with the décor and while service still needs to be figured out the FOOD is GREAT. ill take good food over anything. Went for dim sum and EVERYTHING we ordered came out was HOT and FRESH! Great tasting high quality food for a more than reasonable price. Did i mention that they use all organic product?
The owner speaks both Chinese and English so don’t be scared off white people. She does a good job running the front of house and able to accurately describe a dish if you need some help figuring out what to get. I didn’t get a chance to explore too much of their menu, but I want to come back and will update what we had.
Give it a go its honestly maybe my new favorite dim sum spot.

MSG sufferers beware! I have severe issues with MSG intolerance and always ask if places use MSG before I eat there. When I called YiPing to inquire if they used MSG, I was told «all our food is fresh and organic» and stupid me, I took that to mean no MSG. Wrong! Had a pretty severe MSG reaction. We MSG sufferers know that many places use it without saying so, or flat out lie. This is one of those places.

Very disappointed with my first experience at this restaurant. On a Sunday, no wait and seated immediately. Wow, a hidden gem and we couldn’t wait to order. Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. We waited and waited for our dim sum order. We asked what happened? Didn’t get much of a response. We asked three different people at the restaurant. Finally, someone came by and threw on our table a plate of sesame balls. We didn’t order it. Told the server and she said, «On the house, order is coming». A total of an hour of waiting, our dim sum have arrived. I have to admit the food was good, not too greasy, but the service is HORRIBLE which ruined everything!
What I thought was quite strange was that someone from the kitchen was using the microwave that was located just outside the kitchen. Was he heating up his own lunch or using it to prepare customer’s dishes??? And it wasn’t used just one time, but actually several times throughout the course of our meal. A little disturbing. Overall, we will not go back and we will continue our search for that one good Chinese restaurant in the Tri-​Valley area.

Used to love this place for the spicy water cooked fish. Came by recently and they changed the menu/​owner. Gone is the awesome huge pot stickers, and in some dim sum. Didn’t bother with the dim sum as I doubt they have a dim sum chef. Just ordered the usual spicy fish and it was meh. My coworker’s lunch was just awful. Not coming back.

LOVE THIS PLACE… the food is off the charts amazing. Totally fresh ingredients, amazing flavors and absolutely the best Chinese in the area. Great service and very fair prices. Definitely try the Green Onion Pancakes you will not be disappointed.

The original owners of YIPing have moved on to China Lounge in Pleasanton. The menu has changed and is now offering Dim Sum. Last night we had dinner there and we were the only customers the whole night. The shrimp and eggplant (dim sum) and the pork belly with garlic sauce was good. The beef noodle soup was bad. The menu looked like a middle school book report. Host /​Manager /​Waiter was not in a good mood said he did not know what happened to original owners” he only works there”.

TLDR:
— Dim sum has great quality across the board. Nothing is too oily or salty. Really great alternative to overcrowded Koi Garden in Dublin. Arguably better.
— The owner is very friendly! General waitstaff could use more training. No big deal.

Gluten Free dinner with my husband led us to this restaurant for a new adventure. I’m a Celiac and found this restaurant when searching on Unilocal for gluten-​free food near me. The staff were less than adequate in attitude and knowledge of gluten free options, but the food was pretty great and was served in perfect timing. There was a large group in the back of the restaurant, and this meant that we could hardly hear each other from across the table, so be warned that the building acoustics aren’t ideal.
When I tried to talk to the staff about the gluten-​free options at the restaurant, the waiter didn’t have much information, just could tell me they had gluten-​free soy sauce. After a lot of follow-​up questions, we ended up ordering a sizzling rice soup gluten free, snow pea chicken and some fried rice. It sure would have been better if it had gluten in it, but overall it was really nice to have a gluten-​free Chinese meal, and not from a chain restaurant.
I would’ve given the service two stars, and the food for stars. Thus, a three-​star overall.

Floor is sticky and food was awful. The worst lemon chicken My husband has ever had and the Kung Pao tofu was so vinegary. Won’t be going back.
Why can’t there be just one Chinese food restaurant half as good as the hole in the walls in Oakland Chinatown?

Want authentic Sichuan food in the Tri-​Valley area? This is the spot. The first page of the menu is where you’ll find some of the most popular Sichuan and Chongqing dishes. The rest of the menu is just American Chinese food, which I don’t care for.
Not sure if it’s a weekend thing, but they have a dimsum menu as well, which was just alright. But hey, there are Koi Palace and Golden Sand Harbor for that.
And they have legit hot oil here at Yiping, which puts them on the too of my list. :)

I am so disappointed! I have been going here with my coworkers since they opened. We actually took a coworker there last week for a farewell lunch and it turned out we had to say goodbye to him and this restaurant.
This was one of my all time favorite restaurants, but they have clearly changed ownership, chef, and quality of ingredients.
I hope they can somehow bring back the original YiPing, otherwise this place is going to be out of business once all of their loyal customers read these reviews or have an unfortunate dining experience.

We came to this restaurant because my mom saw an ad in the newspaper saying this was a new restaurant. In reality, the restaurant itself is not brand new. There is just a new owner who took over about three weeks ago.
I’ll be honest, I had pretty low expectations while waiting for the food. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. For the four of us, we ordered green pea shoots, mustard greens & meat soup, tea leaf duck, and fried grouper with vermicelli noodles.
Everything had a good flavor and the portions were pretty big. My favorite part of the meal was the vermicelli noodles. Sadly, you only get a very tiny portion compared to everything else. The grouper itself did make up for it though; you get the entire fish. It was around 10 – 11 inches, maybe longer. It wasn’t a scrawny fish either. What’s interesting is that it comes with a handful of short crinkle-​cut fries that are soaking in the sauce (we asked the owner about it and no, it was not an accident).
We also got a plate of sesame & green onion bread to dip with the grouper sauce. That was also very yummy. The duck was a bit too dry for me but I’m normally not a huge fan of duck anyways.
I’m not sure about the pricing of each individual item but for our entire meal with tax & tip, it was about $ 70 something. And for the amount of food that we got, it was extremely affordable.

Had to find a new dim sum place since the old standard just closed its doors. Caught off guard I used Unilocal and found another one. It’s delish and they make everything fresh to order which I loved. Maybe if you get here early, they do the push carts with dim sum.
The prices are typical which is reasonable. Nice atmosphere and cute place. Always great to find a new place!
And the staff was very nice and all smiles!

Met up with fellow Unilocalers for a little get together. YiPing is located next to a Billiards place and a japanese restaurant. It’s been a while since I’ve been in this plaza as I don’t work in San Ramon or eat out often in this area.
The service was quite attentive and very nice. They took our order of Beef Stew and Seafood Claypot. The pricing of course is super inflated as it is San Ramon. I think I would’ve been able to get the same dishes elsewhere for maybe $ 2 – 3 cheaper. It did come with a hot sour soup which was pretty good for being free. The food came out fairly quickly.
The Beef Stew was hearty and the meat reminded me of some filipino dishes. The noodles were pretty «qq.» The seafood claypot had a lot of really big chunks of seafood (well except the scallops which were kind of tiny). It had a lot of flavor but way too much salt for me. I kind of downed 3 glasses of waters while I was there and felt really parched still when I left.
The lighting in the place was really really dark. I wish they had more windows in there or just more light in general.
Overall, if I were to compare this place with all other Chinese places, I’d give it a 2. But I’m feeling fairly generous today and comparing with what’s in the area and I think it’s definitely better in quality than Chef Yu. Maybe next time, I’ll try their dim sum.

I really like this restaurant — honestly, the food is good here!
This place is nearby and I love Chinese food. I am a Sacramentan, and my favorite Chinese place in Sacramento is Jade Fountain. So I am looking for a place that hits the spot just like Jade Fountain!
So I am hoping this place would. So I order the green beans, braised beef and tofu clay pot, cod filets in spicy sauce for take-​out. I went on the website and realized they had this promotion/​rewards program. When I get there, the wait staff barely knows any English. He knows what I am referring to when I point to the menu. We ask about the rewards program online, he’s so confused. Eventually, a lady (owner) comes out and she’s very nice, and explains to us that there’s new ownership (her), and she doesn’t have access to the website and all those things. So we’re a little disappointed but we want to try the food, so we will wait!
The food comes out, and she decided to give us orange beef on the house. I was excited about that. So when I come home, I am a little disappointed the portions are smaller than what I am used to.
However, the food is good! Pricey though — however, bay area chinese food is always pricey. I am used to cheaper prices. The green beans is delicious. The cod is good. The braised beef and tofu is a little too salty, it won’t be as good as Jade Fountain’s tofu/​beef clay pot. That dish is awesome. The orange beef was surprisingly tasty too.
I definitely plan on coming back here. I knocked off a start for the prices. Honestly, $ 10 for green beans? That’s a little pricey but, I guess that’s the norm in this area.
I didn’t eat in but I imagine the service would be good here — everyone seems nice and friendly!

We picked YiPing for our Sunday family dinner. It was also my birthday.
We started early, so the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. We took our time to pick what we wanted from their one-​page menu. I found the place a little dark for a Chinese restaurant. But I think the place was going for a more quiet setting with their ambient light.
It took a while to decide on what to order. We wanted to try as many dishes, but didn’t want to end up with too much leftover. We also had to make sure that we ordered some non-​spicy dishes for the kids. We finally settled on 5 dishes with the help of our most patient server.
First we got the house made Pork Pot Stickers. These were pan fried dumplings with pork fillings. On its own, the filling tasted a bit bland. But the sweet and spicy sauce complimented the dish quite well. It enhanced the subtle flavor of the pork pot stickers.
The second dish was the Spicy Cod in claypot. True to the menu’s description. It was slices of cod and cabbages in a spicy soup base with generous portions of chili. The first bite is always the best! It’s when the burst of flavor and spices explodes in your mouth. Eventually, your tongue gets numb, so the subsequent bites may not be as satisfying as the first.
The third dish was Combo Chow Mein. This Was the perfect noodle dish for kids. It was thick noodles with a combination of beef, chicken, shrimp, and veggies. The shrimp was juicy, the meat were tender, and the noodle was al dente. It was mildly salted and balanced all the flavors in the dish.
The fourth dish was the Braised Pork Belly. It was a blend of salty, sweet taste coupled with the star of anise fragrance. Juicy chunks of pork belly rested on a bed of baby bok choy and glazed with the brown thick sauce of the braised meat. Yummy!
They were all very good. And so, I cannot do justice to the last dish: Chicken Clay Pot. Which was supposedly a favorite by loyal patrons. I can say that the dish was tasty and that the thinly-​sliced meat was perfect for the blanched vegetables that came in the sizzling hot pot.
We loved every dish and we’re glad that this place is so close by and is reasonably-​priced.

The service and food is 5-​stars: I’ve been here several times for lunch and the quality has always been outstanding. My go-​to orders are the broccoli beef, spicy cod, and the seafood clay pot: the seafood is fresh: shrimp, fish, scallops — yummy! The sauce is not too salty or spicy, it goes well with the seafood and veggies.
Extra plus because they don’t charge extra for brown rice.
