Ok so let’s break this down which I usually does. Place — it’s clean with plenty of tables. Parking — can be a b**** during lunch time since this area is surrounded with offices. Service — staff are friendly and annoying a little bit because she keeps on coming back to my table when I already said give me a minute to think. I know that’s good but not when i am busy on my phone trying to check in on Unilocal.:) Food — I had the Kung Pao chicken. I was not a big fan of it. I think it’s just OK but not great. I had better. The serving is HUGE for a lunch special. When it arrived on my table, my first reaction was WHOA!!! Price — If you’re on a tight budget and you’re super hungry, then this place is definitely for you! They priced their food super cheap(lunch special for under 6). oh and did I mention they give free Tea, Sour Soup and Salad? Good Deal ha?! Definitely coming back here to try their other food.

Food is pretty decent compared with neighboring restaurants. There aren’t very many Chinese restaurants to choose from to begin with. Service is okay. It’s located in a plaza so parking is almost never a issue.

I often go to Green Valley for their 3 dishes for $ 21. My favorite item is definitely the garlic eggplant dish. This business is almost always bustling during dinner hours, and you know it’s good because there are Chinese families inside eating, not just Caucasian people. My only complaint would be that sometimes service is not always 100%, and they might not notice u trying to get their attention. However, other than that, the food is really good and I will continue to go back.

I came here on a weekend for lunch with my parents. Great place! The service we got was really good(probably because my mom had already been here a few times). We got the pork blood tofu, the tofu pot with seafood, and some veggie platters(sorry I don’t really know the names of the food here). All of our food came out really fast and were delicious. They also have a great deal where you can get 3 plates for 21 dollars! That’s a great deal that you rarely find these days. I definitely like this place and will be paying a visit the next time I come back home.

THis place has changed owners quite often. they used to serve dim sum which is nice, not they have m-f lunch specials for the work crowd and the weirdos who have weekdays off. Their lunch plates are big and tasty. I went on a weekend one time and could not remember if they had any deals like most chinese places who have 3 dishes for $ 18 – 20. Parking is sort of difficult and sometimes you just feel like pizza, which i get distracted by the all you can eat at round table! yum! hahah(I’m chinese so I eat a lot of chinese food, so pizza is nice sometimes… but thats a different Unilocal review) Green Valley your valley is lush and green full of life. thank you.

My brother came back recently after this place changed owners/names from Chef Chan. Have to say I recall Chef Chan’s being more tasty. The dishes we ordered, curry beef stew, tofu + salted fish + chicken, and salt + pepper calamari were all average. Too much tendon and not enough beef in the stew and too much breading on the calamari. However, the rock cod and Chinese greens were tasty. The best thing was the lamb and vegetable soup – had a nice vinegar taste to it. Not so sure I’d come back – some of the other local Chinese restaurants still rank higher on my list.

Great deal: $ 21 for 3(large) items! Seriously. the portions are huge! we ALWAYS have leftovers. They don’t compensate the taste for the amount of food either. My favorite is the fried fish with onion dish(the sauce is red).don’t know what it’s called though. Convenient location for me since I work ~2 mins away :)

Yum! This place is great and very affordable! My grandma and I stumbled upon this place and we love the $ 21 deal! I love that they have steamed flounder available for the combo because anywhere else, it would be almost as much! Really great deal! We usually get the spicy eggplant too! So yummy! Also, there is a lobster noodle that used to be $ 13 but they jacked the price up to $ 21! Not worth it but it’s still yummy. I’m pretty sure that they use a lot of MSG though. We were all in a food coma for hours after.

Our favorite Friday night family dinner place. The kids love their fried rice and sweet sour spareribs. The 3 items for $ 21 is a steal. We always over order so we can have leftover for the next day. I hope that they would put in some booths or more comfy chairs. Also it can get really hot in here! :(

Great lunch. Soup Salad Huge plate of your favorite Chinese. $ 6.50 for a five star rating, they could do the following: 1. make sure each table has condiments/seasoning. 2. wash tablecloths more regularly. 3. use more care in refilling water and not touching the top of the glass or your straw with their hands. 4. more consistent air conditioning. 5. have a «no cell phone calls at table» policy.

So-so nothing special Chinese in an outdated non-charming space. No weekend lunch specials.

I ended up stumbling upon the place when I arrived early for an appointment at an adjacent store. How I ened up with an appointment is another story in it’s self, better told in a different review. It was lunch time. I was hungry and had 40 mins until my appointment. I entered, then seated and served a small salad, soup, and hot tea. As I looked over the lunch menu I noticed the cheap prices. 6 – 8 bucks for a lunch portion. When the food was served, the second thing I noticed was the enormous size of the meal. How they provide, such huge amount of food, for such a low price is only know by the owners and companies like walmart. My rating is based on the portion size to cost ratio.

Had the General’s Chicken. Unlike most, this is actually hardly breaded at all and not very crispy, but the taste was excellent and not too salty. Great portion for $ 6 as well. Nice little salad. Fried rice was a little boring compared to other’s I’ve had, but it was ok. Steamed rice probably better to get with this dish. Hot and Sour soup was good, nothing outstanding, though. Fried noddle things can be skipped as the amount of food is enough without them. Nice selection and clean atmosphere. Quick service.

Since the first time I’ve been there the food hasn’t had much MSG so it’s a lot easier to eat and I go probably about once a week. They accept credit cards but last time they asked me if I had cash because my purchase was under $ 10. This makes me inclined to skip the place if I don’t have cash, which is common for me.

If you know my parents you know they LOVE their Chinese food, but only if its pretty damn cheap. That doesn’t mean you skimp out on flavor or freshness, they just want it all. So of course during a visit to the Bay area this week they bring me over to Green Valley Chinese in San Ramon. And I know what it’s going to be like before I even step in: cheesy décor, efficient service and great food! Green Valley delivers all of the above but in also, blow your pants off quantities. They could be the Claim Jumper’s of Chinese food, seriously! Start off with some complimentary soup to get things going, you get a big ol bowl of stewed beef broth with veggies. My parents went for the three dishes special, all of $ 21+ and tossed in some fried calamari. The veggies were a plate of bright, tender greens(I have no clue what type) that were really well stir-fried. A plate of salt and pepper pork chops were tasty along with a dish of braised rock cod filets in a spicy sauce. While Green Valley doesn’t put out the best Cantonese food I’ve had, it’s certainly authentic and the dishes were GI-normous! Seriously a LOT of food for $ 21 and it was all pretty damn tasty. Toss in a free tapioca/sweet potato soup with a bit of ginger to complete the meal and you’re gonna roll out of their, literally. Service was fine and efficient like most of these types of resto’s, décor is understandably sparse. You don’t go to Green Valley for ambiance or snobbery. Just come here if you want LOTS of good Chinese food and order off the authentic menu, peeps! Don’t worry too much about the poor reviews, the food is fine here and a great deal. So three stars for the food and a plus one for the value. You won’t go wrong eating at Green Valley unless you’re trying to watch your weight!

I went here with a co-worker for a warm lunch on a chilly day. We beat the lunch rush and so were the only ones in there minus one other guy. The service was incredibly fast and the prices were good. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup — unlike Carlo’s mine was hot. The pot stickers were also tasty. I ordered the curry chicken dish and while not my favorite it was still good. This is a great place for a cheap good lunch.

Basically as good — and cheap — as places like D&A Café in Oakland Chinatown. I’ve been to Green Valley 5 times since it reopened this summer. The menu seems the same as New China, and it seems to have the same unbeatable special deal — 3 huge dishes for $ 21. This past week my wife and I and two small boys went. We deliberately over-ordered — 4 dishes — knowing we would be eating that food for 3 subsequent meals. The(Taiwanese-style?) beef noodle soup was tasty, with lots of chunks of beef. The black pepper beef and vegetables was the best dish of the night, though the rock cod with dried tofu in claypot was also delicious. The fried tofu with green chives was good, too. As noted, every meal starts off with the«lai tang,» an old-school clear appetizer broth. The main downside is that the food is a little salty.

Meh… PASS I was surprised that these guys immediately served us soup as soon as we sat down. However, the hot and sour soup was seriously lacking flavor. It was missing that entire HOT and SOUR aspect for sure. Anyway, we ordered the mu shu and the lunch special lemon chicken. Mu shu was salty. I liked the pancakes though. I must say that the lemon chicken was rather gross and started to become bitter towards the end. However, that order of lemon chicken was quite a substantial considering wa only paid $ 6 for the chicken, fried rice(which was lousy, fried wonton and broccoli. I think they may be understaffed so the service becomes shotty during usy days. The woman brought tea but then she forgot the cups. Then she brought the food but forgot the plates. In short: mediocre food, mediocre service, great price. I most definitely will not be back. If you want Chinese in San Ramon, look elsewhere…
