Totally Computer, Inc

NOTE: This isn’t a comment on how well these folks fix computers. It’s a comment on the front end of customer service. I got a recommendation to Totally Computer, went on their website, clicked Contact Us, and sent them an email. Fifteen days later, I still haven’t heard from them (I checked spam). (I live in a place with lousy cell reception, so I didn’t call.) If you’re not set up to respond to email – especially if you’re in the computer business! – you should not list an email address under Contact Us. I’m going with someone else.

Sam has been great. Not only did he recover computer information for me which I thought was lost forever but he put a new hard drive into my computer and now things are perfect.
They have fixed my husbands computers and now we are buying computers from him for the students.
I feel 100% confident that Sam has my best interest in mind and that I am getting more than fair pricing. They are honest and trust worthy!

I looked at a lot of reviews on computer shops in the area and while there were many seemingly good choices, the consistently high praise for Totally Computer and the fact that the owner’s name was Sam (I’m a Sam, too) lead me to San Rafael.
Sam was super friendly, fixed the hard drive on my 7 year old PC in a day, told me it still had life in it if I treated it carefully and gave it a cleanup. It was the epitome of a great customer experience leaving me happier because my problem was solved and Sam is an engaging business owner who makes the whole transaction/​interaction more enjoyable.

I found Sam’s shop on Unilocal.I was looking for a repair shop with good ratings rather than a shop that concentrates on web pages and software. My desktop computer would not boot up to the Windows screen although the progress bar showed it was trying to load and the hard disc was running. I kept restarting it and even went on the phone with a tech outfit but did not have any success. I was very interested in some of the files that I needed us use right away and would be hard to reproduce. Sam was great. He took my tower and immediately started working on it along with all his other work in the shop. He tried removing the hard drive and transferring what could be read over to a new drive with some machine running it over night. Unfortunately, the drive was too corrupted. Sam explained the final option which was very, very expensive: taking it to a disc file recovery lab. Too expensive. So, with a new drive, I started over. Sam helped by loading some software (Windows of course, plus Adobe, etc… programs I would have to find and load) which helped me. Sam is very friendly and informative. He spent time with me giving me tips like explaining what I should be careful of loading as it can slow down the computer. I now have an external backup drive. I very much recommend this shop for computer repairs and software/​virus issues.

As others have admitted in these reviews… I too am mostly computer illiterate. Sam has been a very patient and understanding person and tried to not make feel too dumb with computer jargon.
I have gone to Totally Computer several times over the past few years and on each occasion they have solved my problem in a timely and cost effective manner.

I am not a technical person. You could sell me the Brooklyn Bridge, metaphorically speaking, in terms of computer repair. I spilled coffee on my keyboard, my NEW Mac keyboard! Through a series of happy leads, I found Sam. He was ¼ the MAC authorized service quote. He is very, very kind and helpful. He is, most importantly, an honest person because he could have ripped me off and I wouldn’t have known the difference and he didn’t.

Love these guys and gals! They are very friendly, knowledgeable and everything they do has a fair price. Check them out if you have any IT questions or computer needs!

I can’t say enough good things about the people at Totally Computer. We have used their services several times in the past and they have proved themselves to be completely reliable, trustworthy, competent and helpful. The rates are very reasonable and they are so knowledgeable. One time my mom took the computer to a certain big box store for repair and they gave her the total run around, said it was a hardware problem, sold her a bill of goods, but Sam quickly identified that it was just a trojan and he fixed it in a snap. Thank goodness for Totally Computer.

I’ve been doing business with Sam for a long time. I buy computer equipment for my company and I look for him whenever our company need something. With the down economy, too bad I haven’t been able to use him the last few years. His customer service is first class.

Sam has fixed multiple computer issues for us and family members over the last couple of years. They are fair and honest, and do quick, quality work.
We know we will be back in business quickly and for a reasonable price. We can’t recommend them enough.

Totally Computer saved my external hard drive that failed on me! I thought all my files were lost for good, but they were able to extract everything. Very friendly staff and very professional. I will definitely use them again should I have future computer issues! THANK YOU TOTALLY COMPUTER!!!

Anytime I run into computer trouble I take my gear to Totally Computer.
Sam and his crew totally go out of there way to take care of your problems in a timely manner. The rates for work done are more than reasonable and they’ll get you name brand parts at low cost. In the past they even went as far as to arrange a payment plan with me so that I get my computer up and running soon and not miss much work.
