Probably the thing i have gotten the most from him is a sense of calm when things go wrong. These guys are far and away the best. Their diagnostic skills are phenomenal, and their ability to devise and implement smart, effective solutions for whatever problems you have is equally amazing. On top of all that, they actually CARE about their customers. Too many tech people treat us civilians as clueless idiots. While that might well be what in fact we are, Shiva and the others at Marin Mac Tech go out of their way to be nice and speak in human language and never leave until they are sure we are comfortable and that we understand how to use and run our stuff going forward.

I am a photographer and rely on my computer for work, its productivity is very important to my rendering process. I found marin mac tech on Unilocal and was pleased to see such great reviews. Not to long after, I contacted them and was very happy with their prompt and professional service. One of their techs Shiva cruised to my home office, gave me an accurate and detailed explanation of why my imac was running so slow. He was very patient while answering my questions and helped me figure out exactly what was needed to get my machine working properly. After he upgraded my hard drive and boosted my RAM he also transfered all my old images, videos and applications and now my comp is running like a dream! I would highly recommend these guys to anyone, professional or jus average joe who needs their comp fixed! All around great!

I simply can’t say enough about Shiva and his staff at Marin Mac Tech. My main design computer (27″ i7) had a hard drive meltdown… and although I back up all client files to my server, there was a ton of stuff on the i7 that hadn’t been backed up. Shiva worked miracles and was able to recover most of the data, and got me up and running quickly with a new SSD drive installed with the latest OS X. I’m telling you, if you need a company that knows its $hit and can get the job done for a reasonable cost, Shiva and Marin Mac Tech is the place to go. I’m having them come upgrade my server next week! Five Stars!

Travis is a magician… he can fix any Mac problem, fast! I have called Travis several times over the years for IT support and he never lets me down. He has solved all my issues quickly and efficiently on my iPad, IMac and Mac Book Pro.

Called them and left a message on a Thursday about a month ago. I also emailed the same day using their website form, indicating the specific issues I was having (model, OS, RAM, etc.). The next day I got a return call from their admin saying only that someone would come to my house and it would cost $ 140 ($ 150?) for an hour. Told her I had emailed with the specifics, and I asked to speak with a technical person for a few minutes first, to get their view on my issues, whether they could solve it, and if so, how long it might take. She assured me I would be contacted. I received no reply to my email and no call.

My laptop was so slow, it would have improved my life more being used as a door stop. I didn’t want to give up on her though and buy a new one. I wanted to avoid the hell that is the Apple store and Marin Mac Tech was the first to appear in a search; it was one of those times when the universe aligns perfectly. I feel so lucky to have had Shiva work on my 2011 Macbook Pro! It’s becoming increasingly rare to find someone passionate about the professional service they provide, this is not the case with Shiva, his thorough knowledge and passion for craft assured me that my computer was in very capable hands. The people at Marin MacTech are the greatest… friendly, knowledgeable and quick! I was impressed by my first visit from Travis who very efficiently cleared up the computer problems I was having. He did not spend time noodling about, but got right to the problem and was able to fix it. Several months later, I lost a ton of e-​mails I was not ready to part with. Travis was not available, so his associate, Shiva showed up. He, too, got right to the problem at hand and solved it. He also agreed to look over a list of other not so urgent issues and said he would return at a later date when both of us had some time to clean up my computer in general. Today, I was at my computer and got a notice that an update was available and did I wish to install it. I believe it was for FlashPlayer that I am familiar with so I went ahead and hit «install». Suddenly my screen was filled with an urgent alert! It said action was required and to call emergency virus support immediately and gave the number, 1−800−516−9829. It said 4 possible threats had entered my computer and I might be at risk. In panic mode, I called the number and after stating my problem the man, who sounded as if he were in a boiler room, informed me that I was indeed at risk and he would be able to fix it but it might involve a fee. I would have to authorize him to access my computer remotely. I said, «You must be crazy! Why should I trust you? I will call my local tech before I let you get into my computer!» He said, «A local tech will not be able to help you. I have the only solution and we are very reliable.» At that point I was convinced I was the victim of a scam and hung up on him but I could not remove the alert warnings from my computer and could not get beyond them. I called Marin MacTech and Zina, who is always very nice, said she would put Shiva in touch with me immediately. Shiva accessed my computer remotely within 15 minutes. It took a couple of hours for him to totally get the interlopers out of my system and restore my computer so that it was functioning normally. I could not be more grateful. The team at Marin MacTech is outstanding! The only reason I would hesitate to recommend them is that they might get so popular that they wouldn’t be able to come to my aid as quickly as they did today!

What would I do without Marin Mac Tech (Shiva and Travis) in particular. We have been working with Marin Mac Tech for the last year and Shiva in particular for the last few months. I can’t say enough great things about both Shiva and Travis, they are tremendous. They’re both very tech savvy and extremely responsive. This is very important to us since we run a busy law practice and need an IT person that is both responsive and effective in dealing with our computer problems. As a very non-​tech person, I need lots of help when my computer is not running correctly and acting very slow. After two days on the phone with Comcast, it was evident this was not an internet connection problem but a virus issue. I found Marin Mac Tech through Unilocal along with a few other repair places. Travis called me back immediately, listened to my symptoms and made an appointment for Shiva to come out the next day (although they work primarily on Macs, Travis said they would able to help with my PC).
Shiva was awesome! Prompt, friendly and explained all the issues and the repair scenarios with metaphors I could understand. He worked quickly and efficiently, ran scans and eliminated a nasty «worm» virus. Shiva also left me with with written instructions so I can initiate ongoing scans and hopefully feel more comfortable with some computer maintenance. I am so pleased and appreciative with his ability to explain things to me and with his patience. Will definitely call again and highly recommend to others. So easy to have someone come out to my house as opposed to trying to disconnect everything and take it somewhere. My computer was fixed quickly and there was no stress!

Travis is a lifesaver. I am building a large music library and found that my collection was failing to back up on an external hard drive. Travis quickly fixed the problem and also updated some software on our airport express. Not only is Travis extremely knowledgeable about Macs, but he also is very patient, calm, and explains everything that he does in great detail. We plan to use Marin Mac Tech in the future for all our Mac needs.

One day, my MacBook Pro suddenly stopped recognizing my precious music creation Pro Tools hardware– as a music producer, this is a situation about the same as getting the flu or a flat tire. Upgraded my 2007 MacBook Pro and made it run like 2011.
Travis’s initial consultation was courteous and highly informed. All subsequent interactions backed up his professionalism, he is one of those people that are actually a pleasure to work with.
At my request he upgraded my harddrive from 120GB to 750GB, my operating system leapt from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I increased my memory, went to I-​LIfe 11 and set up an automated, 1 Terra-​bit back-​up drive.
My «new» Mac runs incredibly smooth. All files and systems are operating and are in place. I give Travis the highest possible service rating and if your considering upgrading your Mac you need to contact Marin Mac Tech first, you will not be sorry.

Top notch service! My first Mac had been great until one day it went dark; it was totally unresponsive. dead. I knew it was serious. All my photos, music and memories I thought were gone. A loved one gave me her computer but it was filled with quilting stuff and cat pics. With their encyclopedic Mac knowledge and instructive methods, he not only showed me how to recover everything from my old computer but we worked together to customize my new one!
