Robin Clark Portraits

This review is loooooong overdue, but I guess I procrastinated in writing it because I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to capture the profound experience that I had with Robin during both of our professional photo shoots. Robin is no ordinary photographer, and I am sure that is due in large part because she is also a life coach. Robin approaches a photo shoot in a very dynamic way– you aren’t just taking photos. She guides you through a process of self-​exploration and the whole process is a journey from beginning to end– and at the completion of it you have undergone a transformation. If you are like many people, it isn’t easy having your pictures taken and doing a photo shoot. Robin starts out with a exploratory phase weeks before the shoot where she guides you through a process of discovering what your intentions are with the shoot and exploring blocks or obstacles that might be in your way. By the time the photo shoot happens you feel as comfortable as you possibly can and in the right mindset to capture exactly what you want. It’s a conscious and intentional process. My first photo shoot with Robin was some professional photos and they came out amazing! I get complimented on them all the time and it helps me feel my very best in promoting myself and my business. The second photo shoot I had done was a boudoir style nude photo shoot and it was a very deep experience. I’m hesitant to call it a boudoir shoot because it didn’t have that energy at all– it was more about capturing the essence of who I am, free of clothes or anything hiding me. It was a truly profound experience and I feel absolutely changed by it. I also have some amazing photos to show off to those closest to me! I can’t imagine feeling comfortable doing a nude photo shoot with anyone else. Robin has an amazing presence and spirit and I just feel blessed to know her. She has true integrity, professionalism and artistry. Thanks Robin for all you do! I am grateful for you!

Wow. What can I say? I came to Robin over six months ago wanting professional photos for my multiple career paths but not entirely comfortable with being in front of a camera or sure what I wanted to convey in the photos and how. I am really pretty blown away by how much wisdom and insight Robin brought to our conversations right from the beginning. She was supremely patient (even suggesting at one point that I take more time and not rush the process) and while remaining very open and flexible, gave me clear guidelines and suggestions about how to get the most out of the experience. Additionally, Robin’s manner is very honest and direct which helped me relax.
If I could use one word to describe my experience with Robin and my photos, it would be INTEGRATED. The pre-​photo process she uses to help clients really get in touch with what they are wanting is definitely work, but it is so worth it and I can’t imagine doing it another way. I just saw my photos for the first time and I am ecstatic with the results. Thank you Robin!

After many years of talking about doing a ‘Mother & Daughters’ photoshoot, we finally got it together, and I feel so grateful we got to work with the incredibly talented Robin Clark. Robin was open-​minded, creative, and her intuitive spirit and patient nature made the photoshoot setting very comfortable. Being an actress, I’ve had many photoshoots for head-​shots and editorials but there was something notably different and special about how I felt during this shoot. Comfortable and Happy are words that come to mind. In the end, we have these beautiful pictures that capture the spirit, love, and connection I feel with my mom and sisters. It made for a fun and memorable afternoon spent together, and we will cherish our family photos for the rest of our lives. Truly, thank you Robin for the energy and love you shared with us!

I have never had a professional photo shoot before, and I don’t think I will ever choose another photographer now! Finding Robin’s website was such a blessing– she truly helped my vision come to life through the photography. I was looking to do a yoga photo shoot to get images for my website and help brand myself as a yoga teacher. After speaking with Robin before the shoot she took what was in my head and helped make it something tangible– she was incredibly thorough and the prep she walked me through ensured the shoot was a major success! Robin has an eye for art– during the shoot she always ensured I was capturing the essence of the surroundings in the best way. I didn’t feel awkward or shy, and she kept the shoot going at such a pace that the energy was never lost! I would recommend Robin a thousand times!

I am someone who wanted input from a photographer: best lighting, best places to take photographs, best poses. While I can be somewhat directional, when it comes to photographs, I would rather wait for cues; Robin provided just that. I’m impressed by several things:
1) Robin actually wants to get to know YOU. There’s a visionboard process, an «interview» where I answered questions that provided more focus to the photoshoot, and a skype call. This is the epitome of being thoughtful and prepared.
2) Robin is incredibly patient, understanding, and professional! The day of the shoot was one of those times when people say, «the rehearsal always goes terribly before the actual show»…except the rehearsal was the day of the show. I’m not someone to spend money on hair and I decided to go for it, and regretted spending money on hair that I could have done myself… aaand as someone somewhat ignorant of the plethora of gardens in San Francisco, my partner and I went to a garden and paid the admission fee, only to find out (after a phone call with robin) that it was the wrong location of the photoshoot. We then walked to the correct location (at least it was walking distance) to pay another admission fee. yup. that happened. YET Robin was totally understanding, calm, and remained professional throughout. She was completely reassuring and even normalized my crazy day of experience.
3) THE PICTURES! Wow. Incredible. I honestly don’t think that I ever expected to have so many EXCEPTIONAL photographs. It’s a great thing to receive the photographs and think, «Oh goodness, there are TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM.» They turned out perfectly for both my both my psychotherapy website (
) and my yoga website (

I am someone who has somewhat ridiculously high expectations. (So does my partner). Robin met all them. I have no doubt that I would choose Robin again.

Working with Robin was by far one of the sweetest and most powerful experiences yet. She is truly gifted. Our daylong adventure on Mt. Tam felt more like a moving meditation than a photo shoot. I could forget that I was in front of the camera and instead savor the richness and perfection in each passing moment. The entire day I felt completely held by her. Robin’s gentle guidance and attentiveness created a container for me to relax into and feel free to be ME! For the first time in front of the camera I felt that I didn’t need to preform. I could simply be myself and let that be seen. What a soul satisfying relief! Our time together left me feeling more comfortable in my own skin. I am so grateful to Robin for supporting me on my journey toward self-​love.

I hired Robin to take some new business portraits for my marketing. I wanted photos that positioned me as an authority but also showed my cheeky, fun side. That’s not easy but Robin nailed it.
Her process for session was incredibly thorough. Her questions helped me clarify what I wanted from the images; how they were going to be used and how I wanted people to respond. That preparation meant that we got a lot covered on the day. And it was fun!
Robin coached me through some posing and helped me relax. I couldn’t be happier with the results and people have been incredibly complimentary. My new portraits are the cornerstone of my brand and I still love them sick.
Oh and her packages are extremely well-​priced. You really can’t go wrong.

We recently hired Robin to do headshots for 6 board members for a non-​profit website. Communicating with her was easy and efficient during the scheduling process, the shoot itself, and follow up. She’s a pleasure to work with — charming, warm, and puts her subjects at ease.
We’re also very pleased with the results — we all look great! Highly recommended. 5 stars!

I’m very happy that I found Robin. I’m not very fond of going to photographer, but I needed to update my business card and website photos. People tend to be critical about my photos saying that I look much better in real life. Therefore I turned to Unilocal to find 5 star photographer. What a great experience it was working with Robin for my head shots. I don’t love having my picture taken, but Robin made the whole thing easy and even fun. I had seen Robin’s work before and I KNEW when I was ready for new head shots, and a new look for my website in general, that Robin was the one to go to. She really captures people’s energy, enthusiasm and spirit!

Robin is a remarkably talented photographer. In the span of less than an hour, I came away with well over a dozen usable shots for my website and marketing purposes (and personal use too, of course!). I was amazed at how well Robin captured my personality, though we’d only just met. I don’t love being in the spotlight — understatement!!! — and was quite timid about being in front of the camera. That dissolved quickly once Robin started clicking away. She reads people well and was able to put me at ease immediately. Her warm spirit, sharp eye and creativity are true assets, and working with her was such a gift. I’d hire her again without hesitation.

Before I even describe how amazing my experience was with Robin, I have to first say that Robin is an incredibly talented person at EVERYTHING she does. I have followed Robin as an artist since 2004 and I have watched her grow and expand in profound ways!
I decided to have a photo shoot with Robin in early 2013. I am someone who is quite allergic to the camera, and making this decision was no small consideration. The reason I specifically wanted to work with her is because of the care she takes in every part of the process. From the very beginning Robin formatted the experience to bring me to not only the clearest place possible for the shoot, but to discover for myself both what and how the shoot could express what I most needed to share, feel and relate to internally. It took me 3 times to be ready for the shoot. Robin understood exactly how I was feeling, and she was able to support me to make it to the camera-​and make gorgeous photos!
Exceptional experience. She is worth your time and attention-​she will produce not only amazing photos, but an incredible experience making them!!~

Robin is AMAZING. Because she has worked for years as Life Coach she knows how to guide someone to find the right tone and feel to the pictures that they want to take. Included in the sessions with her is a session where you clarify your vision for the photo shoot and help her understand which kind of pictures you like of yourself. Because of the pre-​work we did I ended up with more pictures of myself that I liked than any photo shoot I have ever done. I got 45 pictures for my work that I can continue to use for the foreseeable future! I couldn’t recommend her more for personal or professional pictures.
