Home Instead Senior Care Began from Personal Experience

Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead, Inc. and began serving seniors in Omaha, Nebraska, as Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. It was Paul Hogan’s own family experience caring for his grandmother that made him realize the need for non-​medical home care and elder companionship services to help seniors live independently at home.

Martie Cruz’s path to becoming a Home Instead Senior Care franchise owner was spurred by a combination of solid family values, successful sales experience and a fateful trip to a bookstore.

After witnessing her mother’s reaction to a temporary stay in a convalescent rehab, Martie vowed to keep her memory alive by working tirelessly to make sure seniors get to stay in their houses. Martie’s career as a thriving real estate agent in Northern San Mateo County also gave her exposure to seniors residing in board-​and-​care facilities. She frequently encountered individuals who voiced their desires to live in their own dwellings.

Soon enough, Martie stumbled upon a Home Instead Senior Care magazine article one day while browsing for books. She calls it, «Love at first read. I knew I was destined to cross paths with Home Instead Senior Care, it was an infinite intelligence call.» So, Martie quickly set out to become part of the Home Instead family.
