Specialties
In Marin, San Francisco, N. San Mateo and Sonoma counties, the nonprofit Hospice by the Bay provides compassionate hospice and palliative care for patients of all ages, plus support for their families, and grief counseling to anyone in the community who is coping with loss.
Medicare, Medi-Cal and private insurance cover most hospice and palliative care costs, so families have little or no out-of-pocket expenses for care, medications or medical equipment. At Hospice by the Bay, no hospice-appropriate patient is turned away, regardless of ability to pay.
Specialties include: hospice and pediatric palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses; grief counseling and support for caregivers, families and the community; community education on end-of-life, advance care planning; and in-services for health care professionals.
History

Renamed Hospice By The Bay in 2006 to reflect growing service area of Marin, San Francisco, N. San Mateo and Sonoma counties.
Served more than 2,250 hospice patients in 2011 – 2012, while supporting their families and caregivers and the community.
