I met Kevin 35 years ago when we were both young, he had a 4X4 military truck pulling a Vermeer stump grinder, he ground a massive oak tree stump for me that had fallen over in a major storm and ended up getting stuck in the mud pit and had to be pulled out by a local tractor owner. I’ve been using him ever since. Practice makes perfect and when you’re a perfectionist and there’s no room for mistakes, his knowledge and experience is very assuring there will be no damages or return to grind a little more that was overlooked the first time.
I work with Kevin and his brother Matt and usually meet them on site and clean up or haul the chips myself and couldn’t do a better job of grinding the stumps myself so Go Pro !!!

We were referred to East Bay Stump for a very tricky job: small stump that was literally touching the wall of our house. After evaluating some pictures, Matt gave us a very reasonable quote. When he came out to assess the feasibility of the job, he brought the stump-​grinder along and upon deciding to «take a crack at it,» did the work right then and there. He was very professional, worked in extremely limited space to get the job done quickly and cleanly — and even offered suggestions on what to do if this devil-​plant manages to come back from the grave. We’d definitely use him again if we find ourselves with more stumps!

Came out chased a few roots out of the ground cleaned up and left no hassle reasonable price great service. We have planted a beautiful lawn where three 70 foot Monterrey pines had taken over the ground with roots. Matt got um all in a couple of hours.
This is the second time I have used Matt, no nonsense, goes right to work and takes care of the job at hand.

Matt came out and gave me a quote for the removal of a fairly large stump. I called him a few days later to add another to the job. He was very flexible and was the cheapest quote I received. He did a great job, finished very fast and I would definitely use him again. He does not cart away the pulp left over from the stump but it was great to use as mulch. There were still root pieces left over which I will have to remove but for the price it was a great deal.

I contacted this company and received a prompt call back and in-​person estimate. The quoted price seemed fair for the job. Matthew removed many stumps from my backyard, including clumping bamboo, rose bush, giant bird and grape vine stumps. I liked that he used personal protective equipment for himself and that he took precautions to ensure no damage to my property. He was courteous, knowledgeable, flexible and professional. I highly recommend this company.

Kevin was courteous, prompt, reasonably priced and when he scratched some concrete in the backyard, offered to fix it. A nice offer, however, we hate the patch of concrete and that will be the next thing to go!
I highly recommend their service and now I’m excited to replant!

Kevin is courteous, friendly, prompt and reasonably priced. I have used him for two jobs to remove stumps in our yard, some were newly cut trees and others had been there a while. He has several machines sized for different sizes of stumps, and he’ll get in there with a shovel to remove any remaining roots. He spread out the resulting mulch/​soil mix around the garden in an attractive way so I had no cleanup or mess to deal with. He gave me a discount for the second stump that he removed on the same visit. Both of my experiences with him were great, and I’m happy to recommend him to others and will use him in the future, though I hope we don’t have to remove any more trees from our yard anytime soon. (Why remove a stump? If you leave them alone, they can attract termites and the old roots get in the way of anything new growing, and could even send up new shoots for a tree where you don’t want one.)

Matt came out this morning to give me an estimate on getting rid of roots left behind by another company I used a few years ago to removed a tree in my front yard. Sadly, our 38 year old trees got a virus, had to be cut down and we were left with 4 huge stumps and 1 small one in our small San Francisco backyard. We called for an estimate for the stump grinding and received a prompt callback and made an appointment for the estimate. Kevin arrived on time, explained things well, followed up promptly with an estimate. Kevin and Matthew came on time, removed a door in the garage, moved things that were in the way and finished the same day as planned. They did a great job, left our yard and garage clean. In addition they are very pleasant to deal with.
We also enjoyed their website which gives clear info, descriptions and photos so you know what to expect and what you are contracting them to do and not do. We highly recommend them.

I called in, man came and gave me a moderate estimate, then he came back as agreed and performed careful and excellent work on removing the stumps. He cleaned up after himself. He also provided insurance and receipt.
He portrayed positive and friendly attitude.
5 stars for that guy.
