History

Established in 2002.

Pigtails & Crewcuts hair franchise was founded in 2002 by Nanette Adair, an Atlanta stay-at-home mom seeking a child-friendly place for her two young children to get a haircut. The company soon began franchising and has been growing ever since.

Pigtail & Crewcuts franchises are a unique hair boutique that makes getting a haircut fun and entertaining for children. We provide an array of services including haircuts, «updos,» finger and toenail polishing and birthday parties. We accommodate children of all ages in a one-of-a-kind environment that is as fun as a playroom but as stylish and comfortable as a living room. The salons’ custom-made pint-sized barber chairs are shaped like airplanes, cars and even fire engines, complete with a bell.

Meet the Business Owner

Kendra K.

Business Owner

In 2005, when Kendra was struggling to find a salon with the expertise to cut her daughter’s incredibly straight hair she discovered Pigtails & Crewcuts. After a job change, she decided to become an entrepreneur and evaluated several franchises, including Pigtails & Crewcuts. She knew that owning a business would be a challenge, but it would allow her the flexible schedule she wanted, so that she could plan her life around her daughter. Today, Kendra owns three Pigtails & Crewcuts salons in San Diego County. With a graduate degree in accounting running multiple businesses has been a natural fit for the single mom. She’s now able to set her own schedule, pick up her daughter from school, attend field trips and more. Kendra has also been a foster mom and has experience in working with kids who have special needs. Stylists at her salons are trained to work with all types of kids. Kendra’s favorite non-profits are Angels Foster Family, ALS TDI, and USD’s accounting program.
