Ellen is so wonderful and so good at her job. I wish I had found her sooner, because I like her better than the place I went at home! I’m happy with the results every time and she’s lovely to talk to. 10 000% would recommend.

Without a doubt the best place to get a wax on the Central Coast, quite possibly one of the best anywhere. Ellen is not only the friendliest, most professional waxing specialist I’ve encountered, but she also takes a 100% stand for the quality of her work. Okay hey. First time having anything on my body waxed, ever. A good friend of mine recommended Ellen, as I come down to pismo/​slo about once a month. I live in SF, and I literally come south 4 hours to continue going to Ellen. She’s cool as heck, keeps it real, and takes care of ya. Without a doubt, happier every time I leave.

I drive 40 minutes to see Ellen at The Good Wax simply because her quality of service is unmatched by anyone else on the central coast. She is fast, efficient, and makes me feel so comfortable during something that can be very uncomfortable. If it it your first time getting a wax or if you’ve been doing it for years, go see Ellen.

One word: ELLEN! She is the best in town, so don’t even experiment with anyone/​anywhere else. She is super talented, experienced, and so much fun. I moved to SLO in Jan ’15 from Los Angeles and was looking for someone and am so happy that I found Ellen. Her space is super cute and I have a blast chatting with her every time we meet for waxing. She keeps it 100% real all the time and takes a stand for quality always. Love her.

Ellen hands down provides the best waxing experience I have ever had. I have been seeing her for two years now and have only had super positive experiences. I would most definitely recommend her and her service. The wax she uses is much less painful than the standard hot wax and strip method I have previously had, and I love her little studio. I find it much more comfortable than heading to a large salon. You can set up appointments through texting which is super convenient and she has been so accommodating to my busy schedule always finding time to get me in. She even sends reminder texts out the day before. She is so friendly and funny and just the best at making the experience quick and easy while giving you the perfect waxing results. Waxing can be an intimidating experience, but definitely not here. Ellen is there to make you feel comfortable and beautiful. You can immediately notice how much she cares about her clients and the service they receive. Love this place!

Ellen is literally the BEST esthetician I have ever been to, and I’ve been to a ton, especially in the slo area. She is so personable and makes the whole process incredibly easy. I would recommend her to anyone, whether you’re a first timer or a waxing veteran for your waxing needs!

I’ve been going to Ellen for over a year. She is very professional, but down to earth, making you feel very comfortable during what could be construed as an awkward process between strangers. Usually I don’t drop my knickers upon first meeting a woman for the first time.
Her methods are very matter of fact, and she keeps the conversation going to head off anxiety. This was during her last months of pregnancy, which can’t have been comfortable for her, but she was a champ. During her maternity leave, I just waited for her to return. I’ve had plenty of waxes before, by women who were callous and cold. Ellen was worth the time and every cent!
She also reminds you via text so you can keep track of appointments, and is accommodating to changes.
After re-​locating to Monterey, I will still find time to come down to see Ellen.

Not a very good experience here. This was my first ever supposed to be Brazilian wax. I waited the 3 weeks for appropriate hair growth and called looking to schedule an appointment. I read others reviews and this sounded like a great starting point for a first timer. Upon calling I got a voicemail asking me to «text» the number I called and leave my name and what waxing service I wanted. Thought that was a little unprofessional to text someone but hey I’m an open minded person. So I texted the number gave my name phone number and the service I was requesting which was full Brazilian front to back and I was a first timer. Got a text back made an appointment but nothing mentioned about pricing or what to do before. I found this odd because usually people will tell you to take 3 ibuprofen a half hour before and to shower and usually will walk you through the process including cost??? Nope not this gal. I knew to do this because I researched and asked friends. When the waxing day came the location is a little off the beaten path with a paper clipped piece of paper on door saying to wait outside I’m with a customer… yet again odd didn’t expect that. Red flags going up every where. Ok so I get in there and she says immediately you want a Brazilian and I said yes but I want everything gone no strip. She said ok bellow waist everything off I don’t mess with pleasantries I just get right to it. Like damn I felt rushed the whole time. The wax was HOT and I could feel it burning me at times. Nothing was explained or told to me about the process. Once you sit down in the position she tells you to out comes the baby powder and the waxing began. What happened to prepping the skin??? So I endured the process and I actually didn’t get a Brazilian not a bikini wax either. She definitely ripped out the pubic bone area hair and sides of labia but left ALL the rest on sides of my legs and bum. For a whopping price of $ 65 that’s including $ 10 tip. She didn’t even really give after care. I felt so rushed that I threw my clothes on and was rushed out. Today which is the next morning there is definite irritation and I need to seek help. All in all when red flags go up don’t ignore them. Bad bad experience!!!

She’s quick and painless! Ellen has great bed side manners and is reasonably priced and does an amazing job. Definitely would recommend after the disaster I has previously with hard wax Ellen has made me change my mind about hard wax!

First off, I texted last minute and she penciled me in for the same day! So grateful… But beyond just that Ellen was great, this was my first Brazilian and I don’t think I could have felt more at ease! Definitely recommend!

Ellen is the best waxer I’ve ever had! And I’ve been to quite a few different places…
For brazilians she is very fast, which is awesome. And the pain is far less than any of the other waxes I’ve had. I never feel awkward getting waxed because Ellen is easy to talk to and she doesn’t make you flip around or get into any odd positions. She is super accommodating too, because sometimes I forget to tell her I want my armpits done as well and she always does them anyway if we have extra time (which we often do because she is so quick!).
Her prices are reasonable but I would gladly pay her more because she does such a good job. Ellen is the coolest! Her years of experience have certainly payed off!

Ellen is fantastic, I agree completely with a reviewer whom noted that she is flexible and very prompt. It was easy to schedule an appointment with her via text. I was in and out of her studio with efficiency while not rushed at all. The actual waxing was nowhere near as painful as past experiences elsewhere (no pain really) and her studio is great, complete with easy and free parking. Her studio is on the second level next to Spirit Winds. I will definitely return and very much appreciate her professionalism and easygoing personality.

She is absolutely wonderful. My very first time, I went here and the pain was definitely less severe than I thought. She was very quick and painless.
After getting several other waxes done by different people, I definitely appreciate her more. I truly think she’s the best person for the job and that it would be difficult to find someone better. If it’s going to be your first wax, she’s definitely the best person for the job, & for all waxes thereafter.

Ellen is my go to girl for waxing. Having lived in Brazil, I can definitely say her techniques are similar to there. She makes you feel comfortable and the pain is very little. Her prices are fair and she definitely knows what she’s doing.

Based on the review of this place, I was really excited to try it. Ellen is charming, but my Brazilian was not so much. I had read about her using this sugaring method and was curious to try it. The actual removal of hair was the most painful wax I’ve ever had, of the dozen or so times I’ve been waxed. To remove the hair, she would pull once and then put the paper back on my skin and pull AGAIN. So painful. My skin was red and painful for about 4 days after the wax, multiple ingrown hairs and there was lots of hair missed. My skin hasn’t been sensitive to waxes in the past, but this type of waxing method might just be too harsh on my skin. Ellen has a vibrant, bubbly, and sincere personality. I really wanted to like this place. Ellen offers a discount the second time you go, but I will not be going back.

I usually swear by Sugaring, but since that isn’t anywhere to be found here I tried The Good Wax.
And my expectations were blown away! I must have been going to terrible estheticians for bikini waxes before this, because it didn’t hurt hardly as much as I’ve had in the past. She was very nice, thorough and made me feel comfortable for the undeniably awkwardest of situations.
The studio is a small one room place in a business plaza of sorts. She doesn’t have a sign yet but leaves the door open.

The Good Wax is an awesome experience, and it is the only place of its kind that I have found in our county. Ellen charges very reasonable prices, is extremely professional, and really fun. She is flexible and very prompt. Her location is easy to find and the studio is clean. I have found that hard wax really is the way to go for comfort and lasting results.
Anyone looking for a wax, this is the place to go!

I’ve been going to Ellen now for maybe 7 years. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from seeing her while I lived in SF and could never find a better waxer.
She’s incredibly easy to talk to and makes you feel so at ease. But what really takes the cake is that she’s amazing at what she does. She is thorough and skilled with the hard wax she uses (nothing is worse than a waxer who can’t get a grip on the tab of the hard wax). I have very sensitive skin and I have little to no reaction after a session with her.
