Victor Drabkin, DDS

Dr. Drabkin is by far the most understanding, patient, kind, accommodating dentist I have ever seen. He talked me through my root canal that was absolutely terrified of having done. He made me feel calm and relaxed and was efficient. All my pain was gone! He squeezed me in for a last minute appointment to have my teeth cleaned. Super friendly staff at the front desk, very personable. One of the cleanest dental offices I have ever been too. Lots of free parking in the back. Fun magazines in the waiting room. He’s by far the very best!

This review is for the staff of Victor Drabkins not for Mr. Drabkins himself.
I was referred by a family member to go to another dentist but I thought I would compare the prices here since I no longer have dental insurance. I was quoted $ 334 for the services at the other dentist. When I called to check prices here at Drabkins I explained to her I’ve only been here one other time and that its been some time. 4 years as I came to find out.
I explained to her that I know longer have insurance and wondering what a cleaning would cost me. She was enthusiastic in saying omg its been so long! Welcome
Back! Since its been awhile I recommend we do an exam on you as well as a fluoride treatment. I asked what the price was. I was quoted $ 204. Which is substantially less.
Now mind you the other place included X-​rays since I had never been to that dentist before. I thought she knew what she was doing so I didn’t bother to ask for X-​rays. She acknowledged how long it’s been so I thought that if I needed them she would have quoted me for it.
Long story short I make my appointment for the following week. I arrive and pay the $ 204. A couple minutes later I’m called in. This is were things go wrong. I am informed that since its been so long that I should have X-​Rays done to look for cavities. It was $ 68 for the back teeth and $ 134 for the whole mouth.
Least to say, I was shocked. The finger pointing and blame began and I simply just asked for my money back and out the door I went. I will definitely not never back. And I do not recommend the place.

Victor was so nice to me and made me feel comfortable, he defiantly knows what he is doing. I highly recommend victor, he’s probably one of the best dentists in the Bay Area. Thank you

Drabkin performed a yearly cleaning and messed up two of my molars leaving them loose. This was his fault he was un careful and suggested he could fix what he had messed up. But In the condition of me having to pay for that. Why should I pay for his negligence. Plus what he had done was irrevocable. My molars will forever b loose. It’s stupid the bills are outrages and I would never recommend him to anyone.

I received dental care from Dr. Drabkin for nearly 10 years. He has done extensive work in my mouth once on a continous basis for 18 months. Never any problems, excellent dental skills and the first dentist I’ve trusted. His wife, Anna is the dental hygenist, great skills, gental hands. My teeth are perfect after all these years. Thank you Dr. Drabkin and Anna.

I have been seeing Dr. Drabkin and his staff for many years and am dissapointed to see some of these reviews. They have always been courteous, truthful and especially helpful in all my visits. Going to the dentist isn’t the best way I like to spend my time, but going there and chatting and laughing with the staff make up for it — they are all so friendly!
I do agree that the previous receptionist was very unfriendly, but she is no longer with them anymore.

Bottom line, they make going to the dentist the best experience it can be and you shouldn’t let one bad seed (the old receptionist) make you think otherwise. Go sit back and relax in their dentist chair!

Very poor customer service. they keep sending me appointments i didn’t schedule then send me text alerts I can’t respond to, email’s that are noreply. took a phone call and an email to cancel the appoint and then again i get phone calls saying i have an appt. Seems like there is no communication in the office. In addition, they have billed us for services we didn’t get. didn’t provide the services we requested and told us we needed different procedures than what we went in for which of course maxed out our coverage for the rest of the year. Went to a different dentist and they did what i requested and got the insurance to cover it. I went to this dentist because i was a very fearful patient in desperate need of care. My husband and boys went there too, but after the third appt, everything seem to change. Not sure if it was the staff changes or what, but we are no longer comfortable going to them. We no longer trust them.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Drabkin for the past 17+ years. Without exception, he’s the best dentist that I’ve ever had. His work has always been excellent he always asks how I’m doing while while undergoing any procedure. His hygienist, Anastacia, is also excellent and caring as well. I’d recommend them both to anyone. I’ve read some of the other less positive reviews below. While I personally never had any difficulty with the staff member people complained about, that person is no longer working in their office. Again, I think he’s an exceptional dentist!

I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Dr. Drabkin and his team over the last few years and they are such a nice group and their patients just love them! The sense of humor in that office is contagious and I enjoy every visit!
@Lawrence-Christopher F.- It’s pretty unfair of you to post a one star review for Dr. Drabkin when it’s not his fault you were fired from your job or that your «life got harder». Many offices wouldn’t even put you on a payment plan and would have expected you to pay as services were rendered, but they were gracious enough to do this for you and you failed to honor the agreement. Yes, like many dentists, Dr. Drabkin has had some unfortunate staffing issues but he has dealt with them accordingly as soon as he is aware of the problem and you really can’t ask for more than that.
Congrats on the new job/​benefits, but asking Dr. Drabkin to resubmit your treatment under different dates would be asking him to commit insurance fraud, a felony in the state of CA.
I read your other reviews and you seem to have problems «playing well with others» almost everywhere you go, don’t you? Maybe you’re a one-​star customer more than these establishments have poor customer service. Oh and by the way, it’s 2011 not 2012, so check the calendar before your next rant.

Eight months ago I was fired from my job that provided medical and dental. I felt that I was going to get released while under a review so I made and went to a medical appointment thinking that the benefits was paid for, for the calendar month. Unknown to me, at the time was that the «dental» stopped the day of termination and I had went to and had work done at Drabkin’s office.
Referred to this office from a family member I had fillings removed and prepared for caps in two sessions. Not long after the initial work was done I was told buy Maria that my coverage «was no good», none of the work was covered and I had to be cash responsible for the work. After reading over the employer’s benefits contract I made arrangements to pay the his office a total of just short of $ 2,000.
I made multiple payments up to $ 700 when I noticed that the accounting was off about $ 150 from the statements they were sending me. My sister tells me that the office manager; Maria had been fired for embezzlement.
As life got harder and my ability to pay off the account became a non-​essential use of funds I kept on receiving letters, then statements, then calls from the office like a collection company. I paid the office a visit and explained my income situation and that I wanted the calls and letters to stop, statements once a month was sufficient. needless to say this continued for two more months with them attaching supposed «fees» to the principal amount.
Now under a new employer I have dental that they use, I call one week ahead to confirm this and speak to another front desk «girl» which tells me that Drabkin is «out to lunch and will be back in an hour». I call back and a different «girl» answers: Liza and tells me that he is on vacation and will not be back until Monday October 3, 2012. I explain to her that I have a cash for services balance that I want to have my now new benefits conclude. She tells me that she «will tell him and will call you back Monday». I received no call on Monday.
Today Tuesday, October the 4, 2012 at 1130 I speak to «Liza» and tell her I was dissatisfied that she didn’t call me back as she said she would and I wanted her to relay my need for resolution to her employer. She tells me that «he has been slammed and that she will have him respond after lunch».that never happened. I leave a message on the machine at 5:03 p.m. calmly re-​explaining that I want an answer as to what can be done to make this a «win-​win» situation.
No sooner then I hung up the phone, she calls me and I find restraint and ask her why did she yet again not call me back as well as what was Drabkin’s response. She tells me that he would not use my new dental insurance. I tell her that I could take him to small claims court with my receipts to prove the theft or wrong balance calculations and have them adjust the true balance. I would accept my paid moneys back and allow him to bill the entire services to my new benefits, if that were possible and have him complete the work… reluctantly. Then lastly he could sign something saying I don’t owe him anything and he has been paid over $ 1,000 for services rendered and I walk way with the hols in my mouth for a professional office to fix. Stay tuned for the answer…
I CAN’T SAY MUCH FOR HIS DENTISTRY BECAUSE HE HAS DONE NOTHING WORK APPLAUDING FOR. HIS BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEE SELECTION SKILLS TARNISHES HIS PRACTICE
I personally feel uncomfortable due to the Shananagin’s going on in his office, despite my responsibility to the account. CUSTOMER SERVICE EDUCATION NEEDED, PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED OFFICE MANAGEMENT REQUIRED

I have always been afraid of the dentist, mostly the shot and drilling, but Dr. Drabkin is great and has his staff always makes you feel at home. They will work it out for you. I have say you are all the best…

Drabkin is great. Took me in when I didn’t have an appointment and explained everything to me in detail. The rest of his staff was also very helpful and nice to deal with. I find it really bizarre that there would be any negative reviews here as I’ve experienced nothing but good times. and that’s rough coming from someone who doesn’t have insurance and is paying a ton for the work to be done.

you are the receptionist, the one who is so hard to deal with. the one who after we are done getting our jaws jacked have to deal with your stone cold, insensitive, condescending tone.
I have had bad experience after bad experience here and am only writing this now because I don’t plan on returning. I have been a patient here for about 10 years now. When I was a new customer I couldn’t be more satisfied but after Drabkin attempted to remove my wisdom teeth by cutting into my gums, then asked if I had already had them removed then told me I don’t actually need them removed that was it!
The assistant Terry is a sweetheart, super nice and comforting and the other hygienist is great but the dentist and receptionist make this place unbearable.

Unfortunately for Dr. Drabkin, he surrounds himself with lazy, disrespectful jerks, who like to alter your billing to try to steal money from you.
I went in for a root canal and told them I have to be sedated for ANY procedure where my mouth is open for sustained periods, as I have migraine issues. They wrote up my bill and I asked if I should pay it after the second appointment, where the crown was applied, or now in advance. The receptionist told me that she’d write up the ENTIRE bill and I could pay now. I did, they billed my insurance, and I returned later for the crown application.
The second procedure went smoothly. However, I later received a bill from them for $ 55 – for the sedation needed for the crown application. Is that not part of the procedure??? Did I not tell them in advance that I need sedation for ANY PROCEDURE!!! Did I not tell them I wanted to submit the entire thing to my insurance? Why would they leave out a NECESSARY part of the procedure to bill me for later? Because they are RIPPING ME OFF — trying to make an additional $ 55.
Oh, but it gets worse. I called them repeatedly to question WHY this charge was not on the original estimate, as COMMON SENSE should’ve dictated. But they never returned my 3 phone calls. Instead, I got a notice from the Collection Agency. They can’t call ME back, but they can file a claim with the Collection Agency? And the bill that they submitted to collections was for $ 110 — they doubled my fee because I had taken so long to pay. It has been just over a month. That is all. But the lazy ass receptionist can listen to the voicemails, she just can’t figure out how to work the phones to deal with their customers.
Dr. Drabkin is a nice man and does decent work, but there IS NO REASON EVER TO VISIT THIS DENTIST. They have NO concern for their customers… they only want to manipulate more money from them.
Prior to this billing incident, I may have recommended them, but there is nothing I can recommend about this place. I spent $ 1500 on a root canal and 5 fillings and they are bitching about $ 55 that they tacked onto the end because some ignorant bitch couldn’t figure out that if I needed sedation for the first part of the procedure, I would again need it for the second. Save yourself the hassle and find yourself a dentist elsewhere that possesses a competent staff. There is NO COMPETENCY to be found at Dr. Drabkin’s office.
Oh…THIRD STRIKE… one of my fillings broke out completely when I was flossing. Dr. Drabkin said I could floss without concern, and here it pulled out my filling. And, obviously, I will NOT return to let them «fix»
it — as his idiot receptionist will no doubt try to bill me for their mistake. And this broad was pregnant when I was there — great — another idiot to add to the herd. How unfortunate for America.

had to take down the former good review based on the first viisit because of extremely poor follow up care and service. i’ve tried to call a couple of times to sort something out with no answer and no return call. it’s just absolutely ridicoulous.
i can’t believe that i actually recommended this place to a fellow Unilocaler. sorry about that.
oh. and lemme tell you– the hispanic pregnant woman that is about 35 working at the front– she can be very bitchy even bitching out some of the other workers there. She was training this older woman and being so mean and condescending to her. I felt so sorry for the older lady to have to work with THAT all day. I can’t imagine how her husband must feel.
It’s really too bad. I thought Dr. Drabkins dental assistant was great. I didnt have too much interaction with the actual dentist. Too bad he doesn’t have personalities like that working the front office.
