We founded Times Up Termite, Inc. in 1991 with the goal of providing the best, most professional termite and pest control services to our customers. In conjunction with our subsidiary, Schafer Construction, Inc., we offer the most complete termite and pest control service available. The inspector came and did a thorough investigation of our house and garage. He took photos and warned us about things that weren’t even termite related like a loose grate in our crawlspace (allowing in larger critters) as well as a spot of fungal growth on old wood in the garage — and how to treat it ourselves!!! He was so friendly and helpful, best inspector ever!
The guy who came to do the actual work was also fantastic. I was sick with the flu while he was here, and he politely introduced himself, told me what he would do (clearing out debris, treating the ground, etc) and then went and did it without disrupting me again until he was done. Professional, courteous, and did a great job. Highly recommended!!!

I discovered signs of termites in a large trim board while painting my house. They had entered at a narrow joint between two boards. I called Times Up Termite based on the recommendation of a contractor friend. Nick came out and inspected the problem area and identified dry wood termites. He wasn’t able to determine the severity of the infestation from the surface damage, but it appeared to be significant based on the depth to which he was able to probe with a screwdriver. He showed me what to remove to allow a better inspection. He returned a few days later and found that they had penetrated the outer barrier of the house, so fumigation was the best option. We needed to get this done quickly because were in the process of having solar panels installed on the house, and we were pleased that Times Up Termite was able to help us get through the fumigation process very quickly. I got lots of good advice from Nick. The total time duration, from the time we first contacted them to the completion of fumigation, was only about two weeks. The actual fumigation was done by Mission City Fumigation. The two companies worked well together and were good at communicating with us.
My wife and I had never done this before but both companies helped us get through the process smoothly. One helpful thing we discovered when bagging our refrigerator food in the Nylofume bags, after we managed to rip the first one, is to put the bags in cardboard bankers boxes (double bagged), fill them with food and seal them, and then just leave them in the boxes. We then stacked the boxes in our refrigerator after we removed the shelves.

My first time calling Times Up Termite to do termite inspection on the home that I have listed for sale in Oakland, Nick show up at the property with a smile and right on scheduled time, did his inspection, he point out there were termites tubing & few signs of termite infestation, I end up using their termite treatment service and cleared section 1, although their initial inspection fee is at higher end compares to others but that fees will be credit toward the treatment service, I would recommend Times Up Termite to anyone, a pleasure to work with, by the way Alan is a very cheerful man! :)

When I bought my house 9 years ago they were the company the seller used for the Pest Inspection. I had them do all the Section 1 work and they did a great job. Very professional and timely.
Fast-​forward to 2014 for our re-​fi I called them again for a Pest Inspection and they were SUPER helpful. I needed things done fast and they dropped everything to help us meet our re-​fi timing deadlines.
Ken who did the inspection was great — chatting it up with my dad about his nifty ladder and about the work needed to be done on the house.
Got the report the same day!
When the loan officer called to let us know we had to do the Section 2 work, Barbara in the main office was very polite and called the foreman to schedule a urgent appointment the next day.
The guy they sent out (I forget his name) completed the work fast and quietly.
Mark, the office manager, again sent the report the same day.
I highly recommend Times Up Termite.

We had a termite issue: the fascia board and some of the roof frame had been damaged by dry-​wood termites. Kenny inspected the roof and saw the problem immediately, while John (Crawford) and Kevin (Reid) did the repair. The job was really well done. They replaced a several wooden planks, painted them the exact same color as what we had before, and treated other wood beams with termidor.
They also used pressure-​treated wood so that the replacement planks are more resistant to termites than what we had before.
They were very polite and professional. The entire team at Times Up Termite was very responsive and courteous!

We were desperate. There was a terrible smell at our mothers home in San Leandro when I visit her on Saturday. We immediately began calling exterminator companies to search under the house for a dead animal because we had recently experienced raccoon activity around her home. After paying two exterminators to go under the home one on Saturday the other on Sunday it was determined the dead animal was located behind kitchen cabinets an area nearly impossible to get too. Exterminators will not enter walls and recommended a contractor do the work.
Try finding a contractor who will cut into a wall to remove an dead animal… after numerous calls we found TimesupTermite on Unilocal.From the very start from the person who answered the phone, to speaking to the Mike the owner, and John who ended up doing the work we had an incredible experience with this company and they have a client for life. They are two companies in one there is TimesUpTermite as the pest control and then there is Schafer Construction all wrapped up into one support team. They were able to scope the area with a camera to locate the animal, John ended up cutting a panel into the lower cabinets, reach in and remove the animal, then construct a new panel out of wood looking good as new.

I have to give top ratings for the customer service, communication, promptness and followup. Special mention to Mike! They went above and beyond to make sure my move-​in deadline was met by absorbing the additonal costs to reopen the house on a Sunday as well as getting permission from the neighbors. They beat other quote we had and also gave us a 5 year warranty. I will highly recommend Times-​Up for your house fumigation.

I have known the owner of this termite company, Rudi Schaefer for years, as I have been in the business for many years. He is one of the most ethical, reliable and professionl termite and pest inspectors that I know. He will tell you for what it is, whether it is a bad news you don’t want to hear. Their staff is wonderful, Barbara & Mike. The reports needed are sent in a timely manner., Emails and phone calls are answered right away and if there are things in the report that needed more clarification, they will explain it very thoroughly. Rudi Schaefer is also a licensed general contractor.

Wow… the one-​star was about someone who answered the phone and was rude… maybe they were just having a bad day and didn’t mean to be rude… oh, well…
I spoke directly with Mike this morning and he was very nice and helpful and scheduled an inspection with my tenant right away. I will write a follow-​up when he gets back to me.
It is upsetting to me that this company got a 1-​star in 2008 and it still impacts their rating… that does not seem fair. They came highly recommended from another pest control company I use that doesn’t do termite work.
They also give free termite inspections and you can schedule them online. Great website.

Wow, I had a totally different experience.
I am helping my college roommate buy a house and I scheduled the pest inspection appointment on-​line – included a $$$ discount because I have my Broker’s license!
Dene called back and was able to fit the appointment in right away and she gave a second discount because my client is a first time home buyer and he is buying a townhouse. (Yes, HOAs scare me too. Who doesn’t like clean sheets right off the line?)
The tech showed up on tine and waited because I had a minor emergency on the way there. He was already done with the outer inspection by the time I showed up 15 minutes late. Inside he worked really well with the home inspector, an incredibly kind, massively talented in his field, gentleman, but still truly quirky and unwilling to mince words. They helped each other out and gave us a huge amount of information about the prospective purchase.
My client paid at the time of the inspection and received another discount. I was pretty unbelievable, this pest inspection truly ended up being far less expensive than any of the services I researched and called. Far less.
The report was sent really quick via email with pretty practical suggestions for future repair and no crazy bid to do the work. A discount was offered if the work was done within a short amount of time from the inspection.
I have to say I was really impressed by my experience from start to finish as well as the incredible value of the service. I will definitely use again. Plus, I just love saying the name. (I know, corny. But, I am.)
