Established in 2001.

My first day in the field as a HVAC technician was the day the Loma Prieta earthquake hit Northern California in 1989. You might say it was a shaky start to my career, but ever since that tumultuous day, and since starting my company in 2001.

I was born in San Jose, CA in 1963, I have always lived in the greater bay area all my life, from SJ to Santa Rosa and always come back to the East Bay, I have lived in San Leandro for the last 11 years and love it here in downtown, I don’t have any children so my business means a lot to me. I like to keep my business simple and don’t hire just anybody to make money, i have been training Alex (employee for 5 years) I am the only person who answer the phone until I go to sleep, and if you call me on vacation i will be there for your needs, of course these cell phones are not the greatest so sometimes you might get a message machine but be sure to know i will be calling very soon. Yelp has been a great tool to see what type of work we do, its not just reviews.

This review is a long time coming. Chris installed a new heating system in our house almost 10 years ago now and has been regularly servicing it since. He’s always been a pleasure to work with, is quick to respond to requests (both phone and email), and does a very professional job when onsite.
I’m a stickler for contractors cleaning up after themselves and have always been impressed with how Chris and his team leave things as they found them. You’ll never find screws, dead fuses, or empty boxes leftover after they’ve finished working.
I’d highly recommend Chris to anyone who is in need of heating or A/​C work.

Chris Levering did a great job installing my wireless ecobee3 thermostat. My wiring in my old house was a bit funky, but it was no problem at all for him to figure out. I’m glad I didn’t try to do it myself, because the installation was more complicated than I expected with my old wiring.

I returned from a trip to Boston last Tuesday night to the news that there was no heat in my house — the pilot on the furnace had gone out. I have an old system (antique, literally), and was referred to Chris Levering by the heating company I had previously used. I need to thank them for the reference. By Thursday morning, I not only had heat, but also Chris advised some sorely-​needed updates to the system, which were completed today (Monday). Chris is both punctual and thorough, and completed work in a timely manner. As one other reviewer stated, Chris is professional and personable, which I appreciate, but I was totally impressed with his concerns about the safety of my system. As I sit here on this chilly January night, heater humming away, I am grateful to add Chris’s name to my list of people who will help me keep my old house in good repair. I called on a Saturday night, thinking that I would get a response by Monday morning during usual business hours. However, I received a call from Chris about an hour later, and we were able to schedule an appointment Sunday morning. I was grateful for his prompt service, since we are working during the weekdays, and it is difficult to be home for these sorts of home issues. Luckily, he made himself available on a Sunday – now our wall-​heater is keeping our family room warm.

Chris came recommended by another company who didn’t have anyone who worked on gravity (floor) heaters. He was responsive to phone calls and able to make time in his schedule to come before any of the other options were available. It turned out my heater needed duct work/​cleaning before it could be fixed, so he wasn’t able to do the repair, but I so appreciated his honesty and willingness to work with me. I would bring him back anytime.

He replaced the exhaust motor for our Goodman Furnace.
On Friday, he came for 15 minutes to found out that the Exhaust Fan need replacing.
He came back Monday to replace the fan.
It took him half an hour to do the job.
Here is his Itemize charge for his service:
Friday for diagnostic $ 99 + $ 64.50 = $ 153.50.
Fan $ 450.00.
Labor: get the fan and half an hour Installation of fan $ 290.
Total of $ 903.50
There is nothing wrong with his service.

Of course my AC goes out on the hottest day of the year! But one call to Chris, and I had an appointment the very next morning! Chris is excellent! I met with Chris on 6÷2÷15 in the morning for a bid for a HVAC system for my house. He asked me some basic questions to figure out the best system for me. I showed him the crawspace where he measure to ensure the equipment would fit with the proper duct work. At this time he informed me that he wouldnt be able to do the job for me since there wasnt enough space for him to do the job.
The reason why he gets 5 starts is that he didnt leave right away.
He still asked me to show the him the electrical box where he noticed I was running an old school electrical system (knob and tube) without the proper ground. Chris informed me that if I add in central heating and cooling without upgrading the electrical in my house it would cause a lot more issue (potential fire/​fuse blowing). Something that no other company informed me about or looked into when making the bid to install my system.
Dont let a sales person bid on your HVAC job like a lot of other companies use, make sure they get the guy thats going to do the work to check to make sure everything is going to work BEFORE accepting the job.

Quick and reliable service!
We had problems with our furnace and found Chris on Unilocal.We decided to give him a try and are very pleased with our decision. Chris is such a great guy.
A friend had used Chris Levering’s before and had a great experience, so we decided to give him a call with our problems. We were hoping to get him to come check out our furnace within a couple of days, but to our surprise, he was willing to go out of his way to service our furnace on the same day. Our furnace stopped functioning recently on a Sunday afternoon. A friend referred us to Chris the next morning. Called Chris when our heater wouldn’t shut off. He came out the same day and diagnosed the problem. By the time I called him it was too late for him to get to the shop to buy parts. He was back bright and early the next day and had the work done in no time.
Chris is fast, friendly, professional, and his prices are reasonable. I’ll definitely call him next time we have an HVAC issue. I definitely recommend him.
