I took my BMW into this location because my check engine light came on while I was in the Bay Area visiting a friend. As a woman, Im usually hesitant about auto repair shops because of experience with faulty mechanics. I got a quote from a nearby shop in San Leandro that was about 300 dollars more than what Purrfect Auto quoted me so I decided to go with them for the repairs and they did a excellent job. I would definitely recommend using their services for any future repairs.

Best service around in town, I have been going to this Auto shop for years, over six years, my car is always kept up well, runs well, service is fantastic quality, my car is done at a good pace, time management overall. I couldn’t ask for any more better service then this. Sunil is always on task, when he is having your car serviced, he will find other arrangements to get you, where you need to go, and another reliable source of car, getting back home, picking you up for your car service when complete. The atompshere is pleasant, the mechanics are very good and keep you in the loop of your vehicle status, Sunil has a great staff, and is very outstanding what he dose overall for the auto shop. his mechanics offer great quality service.

I was disappointed with the results from these guys after seeing all the positive reviews. They issued a public coupon offering an oil change for $ 20, clarified when I got there that this was only for a smaller engine, as implied by mentioning in small print that the lower price was for 4-​c engine. Convenient that they didn’t mention anything further about higher prices. .. After doing the oil change, they tried to sell me $ 400 worth of additional services over the next hour. I’m suspicious because my car only has 60,000 miles. Seems like a bait and switch tactic if I have ever seen one.

Okay, my 1998 Subaru isnt the best looking or running car and Sunil was honest about the long-​term outlook for the car but he knew that I needed the car for short trips and did his very best to keep me up and running. He is very trustworthy and not out to make a mint like the ultimate ripoffs, VW of Hayward. I strongly recommend this shop for a straight answer to your car issues. A shop like this is excellent to have in our community and we need to support them.

Our Plymouth Voyager van overheated on our way to Livermore from the Oakland airport and I pulled off at the Davis St. exit and right into Purrfect Auto Service. After a quick look, Sunil, the owner knew we would have to leave the car as it was too hot to work on and reservoirs were full, meaning some other problem existed. I was with my 84 y/​o handicapped mother, pregnant daughter and he offered one of his cars to get us home to Livermore. It was 4:30 pm on Thursday afternoon, height of traffic and we contacted Black Tie Transportation who arrived in about 10 minutes to take us home. Sunil called promptly Friday morning to give us an estimate for the car and would have the repairs completed by that afternoon. If you are ever on 880 or near his shop in San Leandro with car repair needs, I would highly recommend his auto repair services.

Been going to this guy for years, very friendly and personable. Gives you good, fast service and at a good price. They have wi-​fi, although you may not need because he is so fast. Its location is a little bit out of the way but worth it. One time he found something wrong with my car and gave me a reasonable quote. Good honest business!

After buying a car from a dealership, just to discover it had a major problem. The guys over at purrfect auto fixed it, now it wasn’t cheap but what they did for me made it worth it, an now my car runs (purrfect) lol. So thanks, that’s why I’ve been a loyal customer

Friendly service and good prices !!

I’ve been meaning to write a review but haven’t been able to because Jan. was a busy month, plus everytime I got on Unilocal,they were going thru maintenance…
So all in all, went there in early Jan. for a tune-up…they were pretty busy, having one one mechanic that day… but they manage to get my car ready by 3ish, Sunil, was nice enough to take me home since it was going to be a long wait. They were nice and helpful, and explained everything to me, and told me of future stuff that will need to be done.
I was skeptical since the reviews were not good at all, will definitely go back. And since my experience with the Hayward office has been awesome, I wasn’t sure to go, but they were nice. As a woman, I was respected, they were nice and explained things. So keep up the good work. And hopefully I can continue my years of business with them, as I did with the Hayward office.

I have been coming to this place since 2007. They do the advertisment on Penny Saver each week. The price of mainetance is reasonable, I would say it is sort of cheap. The oil change cost $ 18 including all taxes and recycling fee. Service is fine & the waiting time is not long if you come in the morning. I usually come at 8:30am to do oil change, have breakfast in the Burger King next to it. They have a waiting room to relax while you have your cars repaired. It seems they changed their ownership two yrs ago. I did a engine light on repairs and cost me $ 450. I felt really rip off. They overcharged me. Then now the new owner took over the business and so far I haven’t had any issue with them yet.

I took my Mazda pickup there for a smog check. After failing the test they told me I needed a catalytic converter to pass smog, and a carburetor because the truck wouldn’t run. I trusted these people. The truth– The truck wouldn’t pass smog because the vacuum advance diaphram was bad and was not changing the ignition timing to compensate for engine load. The carburetor was fine, the engine wouldn’t continue running because there was a bad connection at the ignition switch. Three times I took my truck back to these people and each time I barely made it home. The engine was shaking so badly it broke the mount for the air cleaner. Soon the truck began overheating every time I drove it. I took it to the Mazda dealer on Mission Blvd and he told me about the vaccum advance problem. He said that someone (Purrfect Auto) had advanced the timing, and that was making the engine run hot. He did a compression check and told me that two cylinders were bad, likely a blown head gasket from overheating. The truck barely made it home and hasn’t started since. This truck was running fine when I took it in to Purrfect Auto for the smog. Well over $ 1000. and I have nothing. All I needed was a Vacuum diaphram and an ignition switch. Well under $ 100. The BAR says this business has been sold, so I have no case. This is just not right. Avoid this business, save your money and save yourself the aggravation. I miss my truck.

So I waited till we drove the car to write this review. I work in Berkeley and my husband works in Dublin.
I bought this 05 Civic off the lot and I drive my cars hard! For some reason i think its a 4×4.
We took it to Purrfect Auto after a family reccomendation for the 60,000 mile service. I don’t think this car has ever run better. We were having issues with the front brakes and now they are perfect.
I was not talked to like an idiot cause I am a woman. In fact all of the people I delt with were friendly and helpful. I’m not one to be taken for a chump so even if they tried, I am no fool.

This has been the best service shop I’ve ever frequented. (out of around 5 – 7)
I can honestly say that the degree to which the owners of this shop have gone above and beyond the call of duty to get my situation fixed is pretty high… Even while working with me to help my budget.
I cannot get into specifics, But I’ll say to try these cats out + give them a chance because they’re good people in an industry of crooks that I’ve mostly encountered.

Like I previously mentioned, been going here a year or so for my regularly scheduled oil changes. Called them up one day to take the relationship to another level, inquired about a BASE ESTIMATE for new brake pads for my 2000 Civic…
And almost choked up after hearing; «$ 450, that’s INCLUDING the coupon.»
Really? I’m no mechanic, but one thing is for damn sure that ‘base estimate’ is a little steep for any general standard. and for a HONDA CIVIC?
To be fair, I’ve never had a problem with their oil service… but it might take a while for me to come back to this business, if ever.

I came in with a 97 Pontiac that I got from an auction. (yes, a pontiac, and I still don’t know why). I spoke with Sunil, guy that runs the place, told him about my concerns and my situation meaning how much I can afford to spend at the time. So they assesed the vehicle and did only what was necessary which includes a fresh oil/​fluid change for maintenance. We’ve talked about and he gave recommendations on what to work or watch for next. The car now drives very well and I am confident that this will be a reliable and safe ride for my daughter this coming school year.

So it was finally time to renew my registration, but my «Check Engine» light has been on for like eight months now and I needed to get a smog check. Can’t pass the test with that light on folks. Purrfect offers a free OBD diagnostic if you get the required maintenance performed at their shop. Pretty standard. The first nice thing about dealing with Purrfect was that the guy was willing to meet me a half-​hour early to drop my car off, and then when it was ready, he stuck around another half-​hour for me to pick it up. These guys were fast, friendly, professional, and honest. According to the report I just needed two sensors replaced. I had already obtained the OBD (not ODB, RIP) codes myself months ago (you can borrow the handheld machine for free from Auto Zone) and their explanation was exactly what I was expecting. In a situation like this it would be easy for the shop to exaggerate, maybe tell me they’d have to replace the whole catalytic converter, or that it wasn’t just the sensors, but they did not take advantage at all. Not that I want to go back any time soon, but it’s always hard to find a mechanic you can trust, so these guys have definitely earned a return visit. Oh yeah, I don’t know what’s up with the name, I guess the guy who started these places liked cats or something. Keep you engine «purring?» I don’t know.

These guys in Purrfect have been perpetually rude and don’t know anything.
Because I am a woman, and don’t know anything about cars, they totally took advantage of that. Telling me I nerd to change a lot of things in my car that are unnecessary.
I am way disappointed in them…
They are totally UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL !!!
I would give them negatives stars if I could…

Brought my car in for a tune up, the guy was very friendly and nice and made sure to answer my questions detailed. He said my car would be ready in an hour and sure enough it was!!! and my car was humming PURRfect!!!

Serious downgrade for the San Leandro shop. Don’t go to this one. Instead patronize the Purrfect in Hayward on Mission Boulevard. Much nicer staff. That’s all I can say. These guys in San Leandro have been perpetually rude to me for way too long and don’t know crap. Ask for Melvin in Hayward. Very knowledgeable mechanic and overall nice person.
