Well, something I thought would never happen… My local K-​Mart will be shutting down operation. Done deal… K-​Mart San Leandro Gone… December 2014 sniff***

Thank God this store has finally closed! It was just the worst store ever, horrible customer service, never more than two checkers open, and it takes for ever to check out because their computer systems are from the stone age. Sorry to hear people lost their jobs but hopefully we will get something good to replace it. A Trader Joes would be awesome. Would hate to see a Target or Walmart move in or even worse another dollar or discount store, that’s the last thing San Leandro needs. San Leandro needs some better retail stores and upscale markets.

This Kmart had good customer service. They closed the Dec 4, 2014. I been knowing this Kmart in this location for almost 40 years. Didn’t like 2 see it go. Miss u. Yes I shopped here.

I have always been amazed this store was able to stay open through bankruptcy and never was put on the closure lists, so it was slightly (not really) shocking to see that it is closing. For nostalgic reasons, I will be sad to see it go. I will always remember it for the Icees I used to get in elementary school and the toys I carefully picked out. This was my secret go to spot for holiday decorations. How can I hate a store that had ZERO line for the last Harry Potter book release at midnight, while other stores had two hour lines?
Sure this store was basically the complete opposite of Target in terms of design, employees, price, merchandise and pretty much everything else but it was amusing how outdated it remained. I could only laugh and shake my head at how obvious corporate either decided last minute to close the store or did not plan enough because they already had 2014 Christmas items out before liquidation.
I hope a new tenant is found and this store does not stand vacant for years. Bye Kmart, you will be missed.

I used to enjoy walking to this store and the prices were decent. During the past few years it became an awful store where I’ve experienced the cashiers overcharging upon several occasions. I’ve had to have them recalculate and catch their errors. I used to like this store mostly out of convenience but now I wish they would just hurry up and close down.

This was a pretty good store.
My wife worked here 1999 – 2005 so I am a little biased.
We used to shop here all of the time.
I stopped by today because I was working in the area and what do you know…
Picked up lots of stuff at 20% off, will have to come back later and see what’s left at 70−80%.

My neighborhood Kmart lacks the big-​box appeal of Wal-​mart and the cheap chic of Target; it feels like it’s stuck in a time warp though not even the cool 70s when my family frequented the Hayward store. Nevertheless, we always get friendly service even if the store is dimly lit or if we can’t find what we were seeking. Today’s finds: hand sanitizer in 8 oz. container for child’s school supply list, two sets of queen size cotton sheets, and a cute apple-​shaped scrubber meant to encourage my daughter to help with the dishes.

This review is for barbara the cashier who was super nice sweet and patient with my couponing transactions. The store itself gets 2 stars. Since i noticed they don’t restock on items often. I went 3 days in a row and for the things I was going for nothing was in stock and empty displays weren’t removed by employees working on the floor. Otherwise only kmart near me so I do shop here often

In our search for «Chic» brand pants which my wife wears and really likes, we ended up at this store, we were pleasantly greeted by a nice appearing and cheerful lady and continued into the women’s section where we looked and looked but were unable to find any even close to her size.
After about 15 to 20 minutes of looking with no success we were leaving when Devon the greeter (I hope I spelled her name right) asked if we found everything we needed, I told her NO… and explained what we were there for, she replied, let me check in the back of the store and I’ll see if I can find some. A few minutes later she returned with three pairs in my wife’s size.
I thanked her and told her that she really made our day… it has been our experience that this particular brand is in short supply and limited in colors and whenever we are traveling we look for a Kmart just to see if they might have any.

For the last 3 years, I’ve had a very cool Christmas tree … blues and silvers with cool white lights. Next year I want a warm Christmas tree — with red and gold and warm lights … so the day after Christmas I went in search of decorations (on sale) for next years tree. We found ourselves here around 9:15 (which is about 45 minutes before closing) … although from the dim lights in the store, you would think they were already shutting down for the night.
The Christmas selection was already pretty picked through — but we did find a handful of items. Overall — this place was sad, empty and somewhat depressing. I liked that they had huge flip stands where you could look at pictures of a larger selection of fake Christmas trees and lawn décor (those light up deers, snowmen and stuff) all available online.
Sale or no sale, probably not a place I’ll be visiting again … especially with Target just across the street.

Look I realize I came to Kmart however when the sales clerks are moving at the speed of a turtle you begin to question your life choices. There was a worker constructing floor displays loudly banging a hammer it was jarring and did not contribute to my overall experience. The mens clothing area smelled like someone’s hair was getting pressed. There was a Little Ceasers Pizza inside and the workers looked slovenly as well. I needed inexpensive gloves for ny husband. We got them at a good price but oh the price we paid.

Do not expect supreme customer service here… seriously it is not at all the worst but not the best either.
This is a great place to get those cheap needs you find at your local Wal-​Mart but just can’t get there. Heck if I’m not mistaken Kmart still has layaway too.
But they do have any and just about everything you are looking for. From Socks to auto cleaner to toilet paper to video games. They have it all there for ya, but nothing too fancy.

I came here 30 years ago. I was a little boy and I had a Star War action figure. I bought it at Toy’s R Us and the action figure was worn out. I played it with too long. I wanna exchange it but I was a little boy. I don’t what is right or wrong. Manager or security should have given me a break instead of calling the police. I was like 8 – 10 years old. I have never shop here ever since! Beep that!

Went here for Back to School shopping. I’ve learned my lesson shopping at high end department stores. When your child grows so fast. you just go through clothes at a rapid pace. Sometimes my child wears something once or twice, then it doesn’t fit anymore. I’ve wasted so much money in the past. Not anymore.
This year I came here. Great buys! I was able to purchase 2 shirts, jacket, 2 pants and socks all for under $ 60.
The store is kinda sloppy. Things thrown here and there. Honestly though… what can you expect. It is K Mart. The employees are just ok. Not real friendly… yet not bothersome either. Keep in mind… I didn’t come here for customer service, I came here for great buys. Mission accomplished! Money saving day!

Bought something online, so had to pick it up. Store is in a decent neighborhood, big parking lot, huge, clean store.
Walked in and went to customer service assuming that’s where I pick up my stuff. 3 people in line and nobody there. Wait 5 minutes finally someone comes over. «Can I help you?» in a totally disinterested tone. Wait 10 minutes for my turn «Oh you have to go layaway in the back of the store». OK, walk to the back of the store. Nobody at layaway. Wait another 5 minutes, finally someone comes out. Wont help me, says someone will be right here. Wait another 5 minutes. Finally, a manager comes over. She was nice and got my stuff. Also ringed up my $ 3 purchase.
Good: Big store, cheap prices, clean.
Bad: Except for the manager, crappy customer service. I wont be back, rather go to Target and Wal-​Mart which are close by.

I don’t come here often because I don’t like solicitors inside or outside of places I shop. Their floor is over merchandised, their lines are always long and I feel their cashiers are unprofessional. This passed Sunday, my boyfriend was being rung up and when our cashier saw a coworker 2 customers back (after that coworker made a rude comment as to how busy/​slow the line was) and proceeded to talk to said employee as if she wasn’t at work and was just talking to a friend over coffee. It may not bother most people, but when I am at work and I have customers around me you can be sure I talk in a professional manner. It just bugs me and made me not like this place more.

For a business that’s competing with a Target and 2 Walmarts in the same city, it’s hard to believe that this Kmart is still in business. I came in here the last week to pick up one thing in the office supply section. When I found the correct aisle, many of the products were not placed with their corresponding price tags. Plus, many of the items were not in stock. Thankfully, I found what I needed, though it took a lot longer than it should have.
When I went to check out, there were a lot of customers waiting, but only 3 check-​out stands open. The store was fairly busy (since it was the weekend before Halloween), but there weren’t very many staff present. Don’t expect to ever find an available staff to help you find anything, because they aren’t any!

I walked in and was greeted by a mid aged lady (which to me is mind boggling because Walmart hires old people…
Anyhoo…
What went down:
1. Went in for a Vacuum
2. Found the Vacuum I want and some curtains
3. Lined on in register 7 for 4 – 5 minutes and was told her lane was closed ($^^&*@!@ can’t tell me that before hand!!!)
4. Go to register 4 wait for 10 minutes because this guy in front has a credit card that keeps bouncing (only 1 register total open)
5. Asked if I can be rung up first since they’re trying to figure it out was told no
6. Another lane opens a crowd of people runs over because they’ve been waiting a long time
7. Waited 5 more minutes and said fuck that and pushed the cart aside to leave the dang store
This place needs a serious change in management. The cashier looked loss and didn’t seem like there was any support when the card got rejected.
