I stumbled onto this little gem while trying to calm my son down after a recent family dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. He gets antsy after he eats so I took him outside as we waited on the check so he wouldn’t annoy the other diners – also this is a great way to get out of paying the check! That’s my boy! I was just going to stand outside the restaurant and let him run up and down the walkway, when I spotted what appeared to be play area outside the mall. A playground outside the mall?! Brilliant! I know they have those ones inside the mall, but I avoid those because they are seriously germ-riddled and, I swear, every-fricking-time he plays on those inside ones he comes down with a cold – guaranteed! The outdoor play areas have the advantage of natures natural germ killing UV-rays provided by Mr. Sun. There’s not much to this play area, though. Here are some of the highlights: 1) Simple little Tot Lot good for kids aged 2+. 2) Plenty of peripheral seating for all the exhausted parents to sit and put their heads in their hands as the children use up their boundless energy. 3) Checkers/Chess tables are also available; I’m not sure who carries checkers, or chess, pieces with them as they head to the mall, but it’s nice to have that option. 4) Picnic benches for the more frugal amongst us who bring our own food to the mall. I suppose you could get some stuff from the Food Court to go and bring it here, too. 5) There is a little bit of room for kids to run around, too. Should they choose not to partake in the playground equipment. The area is also securely fenced in to keep the kids from running out into the constant ebb of traffic that does surround this place. You are in the heart of one of the busiest malls in SV, after all. This place is a little slice of parent heaven in the hell that is taking your kids shopping.
