Dr. Elaine Chung takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and understand your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Dr. Elaine Chung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She was named SCCOS Young Optometrist of the Year in 2008 and also awarded COA Young Optometrist of the Year in 2009. She is a member of the California Optometric Association (COA), American Optometric Association (AOA) and is currently the President for the Santa Clara County Optometric Society (SCCOS).

I went to see Dr. Chung for my first appointment today. Briefly: Amazing office, very attentive doctor (Dr Chung listens and answers questions thoroughly, you are not a number! you will be treated like a human being), and no pressure on glasses or contact sales. I am old enough to have seen my share of optometrists in my life, and Dr Chung is one of my favourite yet.
First impressions entering the office is the beautifully designed and spacious space which is certainly not typical, optometry offices are often crowded by glasses and when they are nicely designed the space is still often tiny. The receptionist was warm and very courteous. With tDr, Chung my appointment was a regular exam, it went fast but it was not rushed at all. Dr. Chung explained a detailed imagery of my eye, after going through the exam she thoughtfully provided her diagnosis and answered all my questions throughout the appointment considering every little comment I had (honestly I can be annoying with my questions because I am very curious about my own health).
I highly recommend Dr. Chung’s office. And by the way the office seems extremely family friendly.

Dr. Chung and her staff at River Oaks are fantastic. I’ve been a patient for 2 years now, and have gotten both contacts and glasses from her. She pays close attention to detail, and takes everything into account when selecting eyewear, especially for contacts. Dr. Chung and her staff are very friendly and professional, and it’s a stress-​free, competitively-​priced experience as a whole. As long as I live in the Bay Area, I can’t see me ever going anywhere else.

I switched to Dr. Chung probably a year or two ago after my insurance changed. She is the best! It is clear she cares about her patients and has a passion for her practice. If you have any questions, she is happy to answer them. She also has new technology as compared to other optometry practices, making eye check ups faster and more efficient. In addition, her staff is always cheerful and helpful. I definitely recommend this place!

I visited this office after my wife had her annual eye exam done here. She was very impressed by every aspect of her visit, as was I. The office is well-​kept and the waiting area is comfortable; there are items to keep the kiddos entertained and a tiny «bar» with small goodies and coffee you can help yourself to.
Dr. Chung took me back shortly after filling out my new patient docs. To be honest, I hadn’t visited an optometrist in years and I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect besides a, «can you read the letters?» Dr. Chung was extremely thorough in explaining all the procedures so that I could understand how they would help her detect any issues. Everything went smoothly and she answered all of my questions along the way.
After the exam, the staff helped me with a couple of insurance questions I’d had and were very organized in how they handled my visit.
My wife and I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an Optometrist who is thorough, informative and very kind.

I would give this place six stars if I could. The team is very friendly, my appointment was informative yet also efficient, and the office has a great selection of glasses and sunglasses. Moreover, they stayed open ten minutes longer so I could pick up my glasses even though I was running late coming home from work!

Great experience! My first contacts were uncomfortable so I called in, the staff (very helpful) scheduled a quick appointment, which I greatly appreciate. Dr. Chung explained why they probably didn’t work for me and tested my eyes again. She also patiently answered all my questions, and trust me, I had many!

Professional and friendly neighborhood optometry. Even keeps your kids entertained with excellent toys while adults have serious conversation. Several months later I know that my glasses fit really well. Dr. Chung is great. I wear glasses only while driving and did not go to optometrist for more then a decade. So I needed a bit of help deciding on all available options. The eye exam was thought but quick. Christi helped choosing frame out of numerous options. And when I came to pick up the frame with my kids they really liked the place and I could not get them out because they liked toys so much.
Great place to consider even if you are not from the neighborhood.

Best optometry experience I have ever had!
Dr. Chung is very friendly and answers all questions you may have. She will show you why she is doing certain tests and will give you your results instantly by looking at an internal picture of your eye. Her practice is very thorough.
The staff is also very helpful and willing to go over all options with you. A very clean and modern office as well.
I highly recommend this place!

These guys were fast and easy.
I live in the neighborhood, so barely a drive. I did my exam in 15 minutes (good doctor), got done with ordering my contacts in another 5, and was ready to go.
