Let me tell you a story about this store and its owner — Dr. Julia Wen, OD. Then you can judge yourself.
Kim, a very gentle sales lady who earned many 5 stars reviews for this store was forced to leave in tears because of the cruel treatment from Julia Wen. She suffered a lot during her final days in the job.
Kim and another staff D competed for commission of a certain kind of sale. D was more aggressive and she would suck up to Julia Wen every day, saying things like «wow, Dr. Wen, you have three boys! How fertile you are to be able to make them all boys!» Observers found it disgusting, but Julia Wen enjoyed it. Another of D’s talent was sneaking. She liked to rundown her colleagues and informed Julia Wen about what her colleagues were doing. By sucking up and being a tattletale, D earned absolute favor from Julia Wen. Since D was the only one among staff that’s eager to tell, Julia Wen often invited D to have lunch with her and never bother to hide her favoritism. D bullied her colleagues and had forced several of her colleagues to relocate before Kim. Kim was very eager to please too, but she has a more decent character to prevent her from lowering herself to D’s level.
Kim desperately asked for fair treatments from Julia Wen, but was always cold-​bloodedly brushed away. If it was only the bully from D, Kim could take it. However, it developed into a joint abuse from both Julia Wen and D, no person can survive this kind of emotional abuse. Kim was devastated. All she wanted was surviving at work. She called Julia Wen when she was on the edge of breaking down, begging for better treatment. Still, Julia Wen couldn’t care less. When Kim left the job, the person she hated the most was not D. It was Julia Wen. Kim was deeply hurt by this whole experience because at the end she still couldn’t understand why she was treated with such cruelty.
To learn from Kim’s story: if you want to work in Golden Vision Optometry and survive, you need to learn how to suck up and tell. If not, you will be miserable not matter how good your job performance is. Kim deserved better. Her many 5 stars reviews are still continuously bringing customers in for Julia Wen, while she was forced to leave the job heart broken.

My family is under the care of Dr. Wen at Golden Optometry for many years. I have recommended her to many friends who were searching for a quality optometrist and they have been seeing Dr. Wen ever since. Everyone has been very satisfied with the care that Dr. Wen has given; that’s why I am recommending her and Golden Optometry here on Unilocal.
I am an engineering professional and also mother of two boys. My family genes has resulted in me wearing glasses for a long time, and my profession has added more pressure on eye usage. On top of all that, I also have dry-​eye condition. I was frustrated with dry-​eye because it is high maintenance, so naturally I wanted to try laser surgery; Dr. Wen has been monitoring and treating my conditions and she insisted that I should not do laser surgery due to my specific conditions. I appreciate her professionalism, where she puts patient’s well-​being ahead of the business profit. Because she knows I am bothered by dry-​eye, whenever Dr. Wen learns of new findings or new methods, she would pass the information to me to help me better manage my eyes. This is way above and beyond her duty!
Moreover, I have been taking my boys to see Dr. Wen regularly since their birth. During office visits, Dr. Wen always gives us all the time and attention while doing exam, and is very patient to answer all my questions and concerns. She never rushes us to finish appointments. I am glad to see my boys having perfect eye sight so far to enter middle school. I certainly hope my children will have better eye sight than I do and I am glad that Dr. Wen is there to take care of them.

I have been a customer for 2 years now and so far everyone has been absolutely fantastic. They helped me with eye exams, replacement lenses and glasses. My most recent interactions have been with dr. Wu and Yvonne, they helped me with transitioning from glasses to contact lenses. Dr. Wu was very thorough and detailed, she explained everything about lenses very nicely and recommended great monthly lenses for me. Yvonne was very patient and trained me in using the lenses. She made sure I was comfortable with using the lenses. She also helped me with getting year worth of supply for lenses and solutions. All in all it was a very pleasing experience for me. Thanks to dr. Wu and Yvonne :)

This review is just for the costumer service. Stay away this place, they treat like shit. I bring my own frame to this place ask them to do a pair of sunglasses, guess what is the first thing they want you to do? Sign a waiver! If they ruin the frame, they can do nothing about it! Lol lens are expensive, they will trick you buy the «high index“one but it is just regular lens. When I asked what is the name of the lens brand, they told me «no name» !

After being so upset for having my order messed up right before I left for a work trip. I came back to the store wanting to ask for my money back and not even wanting to deal with them due to the mix up.
However, as soon as I came, Yee was so accommodating, professional and took accountability for someone else’s mistake (she wasn’t the one that messed up my order, someone else did — I wish I knew her name). I really respect that as a consumer. She wasn’t trying to make excuses she solved the problem right away. Made sure I still had corrective lenses before I left for my trip and then some. Yee was so gracious throughout the whole ordeal, I really had a change of heart .
I definitely recommend going here only if Yee is here.

Dr. Wu is the best doctor I have ever encountered. Last month, I felt something was grinding in my right eye. I visited two doctors. One found an eyelash in my eye, and gave me some medicine. But it was not cured. One week later, I visited another doctor. This guy said your eye just has some inflammation, and gave me some medicine. But the problem was still there. Two weeks later, I visited Dr. Wu. She carefully checked my right eye, and found a blister in the eyeball. She explained it may be caused by the internal toxin because my eyes are very dry and easy to produce toxin. Then she dropped some anesthetic in my eye, and scrupulously removed it. In addition, she gave me some antibiotic medicine, and told me how to use it. Also, she told me my eyes are so dry that I must use some artificial tears to moisten my eyes to keep them healthy. I obeyed her instructions. Only a few days later, my right eye restored to normal condition. I feel very happy with Dr. Wu.
I strongly recommend Dr. Wu to others.

I’m perfectly happy with the service and the pair of glasses I got from Golden. I’m def going back for contact lens and other things. They are so thorough!

I went there to get Ortho-​k lenses for myself. They were late by an hour on our appointment. We then saw the optometrist who was worse than a used car sales person. Having already gotten all the info on Ortho-​k lenses I asked for pricing and all they did was go into a sales speech of the benefits repeating himself multiple times. I know something was up with these guys when they kept avoiding my cost question. Listening to the doc was painful.
We were then transitioned to the owner who sat with us to discuss pricing. She was a total slime ball. She wanted us to sign a contract to make sure we come back every year and pay her $ 600 to by new lenses. I know doctors who’ve been wearing their Ortho-​k lenses for multiple years. The contract was full of punitive fines and late fees if we did not come back in a year. I could barely stand another moment in what seemed like a back alley store. We finally left there and wiped all the sales slime off our clothes and found a doctor who is much better than this place.

They charged me $ 260 for a RayBan eyeglass, which only costs $ 200 on RayBan’s official site. I feel I got robbed :((

I had a very good experience with Dr. Jackson Ma. However, the eye glasses collection is not great and the sales guy kept showing me a specific brand that I wasn’t interested in.

My husband and I have been going golden vision for many years. Both Emily and Manson provided excellent service.
Emily has been working there over ten years. She has lots of patience and very responsible. Manson helped us when Emily was off that day. He also has lots patience and very friendly. The store closes at 7 pm but he stayed 7:40 to helped us. Thanks to both Emily and Manson.

The most expensive contact lens eye exam I have ever had in my 15 years of going to optometrists. My husband and I both have insurance that covers eye exam, about over $ 100 toward frames or contact lenses. They managed to use all the exam coverage + the money toward lenses and additional money we had to pay $ 270 out the pocket for the exam fees and come home with only 1 box of contacts. This seems like a fraud to me.
The eye exam is average. Optometrist does not bother getting to know my name. The office staff is not very professional. I am health professional and I do have the doctorate degree but I felt I was treated like a teenager. I will never go back to this office.

This review is long overdue. My family and have been going to this optometry for several years now. All injav to say is positive things about the service and quality they provide to their customers. Although, we would like to point out that we always ask for Emilee when we come to this place. She is very professional and friendly. She delivers great customer service and since we’ve know her for so long, we consider her a friend. She knows our taste in brands when it comes to choosing glasses or sunglasses. She always has a smile on her face. There is also another staff name Eric who helps us out when Emilee is not available. He is also is professional, courteous and friendly. Thank you Emilee and Eric and Lettie is me one of your loyal customers.

While traveling had a malfunction with my frames, walked in and they fixed it very fast and inexpensively. Great service and caring.

I’ve been coming here since I was in elementary school (so 10ish years now). I’ve seen Emily, Mandy (I don’t think she works here anymore), and Kelly the most, and the staff is all super nice.
I usually wear night contacts (Ortho-​K), and I love it. since I can’t stand wearing glasses. I tried the two-​weeks day contacts, and I personally cannot wear it because I keep rubbing my eyes all the time.
They always have a wide selection of glasses and sunglasses. I’ve ordered more than a handful of glasses/​sunglasses here, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them.

Brilliant service! Ask for Sharon, Leong, she is super sweet and very helpful. She took the time to expelling my insurance to me in great detail and with a lot of patience.
The store is really great, everybody is friendly. I definitely recommend a visit.

I’ve coming here since 1998. Back then, they are the best Asian optometry place in the south bay. Last few year they gone downhill a bit, all of the original staff either left or got transfer to another store. However, there’s hope after my recent visit. First, they set me up with a new optometrist, Jackson Ma. He’s much better than my old one Dr. Wen, which rushes through my exam like it was a race.
After the exam, they set me up with a sales guy Eric. I didn’t need glasses this year, but I do need a pair of prescription cycling goggles. For those who knows what I am talking about, you know what a pain it is to get a pair prescription cycling goggles. Eric took his time process my order and didn’t try to upsell me something I don’t need.
They are slowly and surely improving. If they keep the current staffs, they will be a winner once again.

They tried to trick me in putting cheapo, headache inducing nosepads on my new Chanel eye glasses, that I paid $ 500 for. I noticed right away and called them out on it. Then they wouldn’t take them back, even after I called Chanel to confirm they were supposed to send them out to Chanel to get nosepads and argued with the lady here. The nosepads were ugly and fake and they tried to make me pay Chanel prices for them. Finally they took them back, I hadn’t even worn them for more than a few minutes. Not nice. Now I doubt they were even real Chanel eyeglasses at all. I used to like this place but no more, maybe they get their eyeglasses at the Berryessa Flea Market?
