20⁄20 Optometry has just celebrated its 15 year of success. We have continued to grow because we meet the visual and lifestyle needs of our patients and provide the best customer service we can deliver.

We design specialty computer glasses for all of our computer users. Since a majority of our patients use the computer during the day, many of them suffer from dry eye symptoms. These symptoms negatively impact their visual performance and comfort during the day. We offer many dry eye solutions and treatments that address the cause of the dry eye and not just the symptoms.

I graduated from UC Berkeley Optometry school and have been an optometrist for over 20 years. I have enjoyed how our profession has continued to expand, allowing me to care for my patients even better. Optometrists can treat infections, allergies, glaucoma and aid in co-​managing various surgeries such as: cataract, glaucoma, LASIK/​PRK, and corneal cross-​linking/​intact surgical procedures to name a few.

My associate doctors and I also do many contact lens fittings for 1 day disposable, 1 day Define color enhancing lenses, toric soft lenses, bifocal lens, hybrid (part-​hard/​part soft contact), RGP, and scleral lenses for treatment of keratoconus or disfigured/​irregular shaped eyes.

Excellent customer care service provider. Everyone on staff are friendly and happy. Dr Lee is very knowledgeable, she takes time with her patients and explain every finding thoroughly. I highly recommend a visit if you are searching for a great optometrist and customers friendly place.

Didn’t have a great experience personally. Got in ahead of time to make sure all the paperwork was in place — just in case. The initial test for peripheral vision all went ok, but for the actual eye exam — I was left sitting in the room for 20 minutes.
The worst part was that no one even bothered to come and let me know that the doctor was running late and I had to go out and ask if they had forgotten that I was still waiting.
Dr. Yu was pretty good — so no complaints there.

Probably the most friendly staff at any optometrist I’ve ever been too (including family visits). I was fit in last minute because I had lost a lens on New Years and needed a replacement set since I couldn’t work without them. They gave me the absolute best deal possible and I left with the new lenses on the spot, already placed in my glasses and ready to go. Every other place was going to make me wait 5 – 7 days, including my usual optometrist. I want to personally thank everybody working at this place for the kindness I received. I will be coming here for any future appointments!

This place is highway robbery. I had questions regarding my eye exam and all they want me to do is pick out frames. The doctor was nice, but spent most of her time trying to get me to do all these extra exams that cost more money. And when I said no, she pushed me to do them because I filled out what I do for work and she said that I should do it because I’m in front of computers all the time.
Their frame selections are limited. Everything is super expensive (40% markup from online) and all inclusive is pretty much $ 250+ more than what your insurance will cover. If you start looking for cheaper alternatives, the attitude changes on the spot and the staff becomes snarky and impatient. While in the middle of deciding, the lady just started doing paperwork for other patients. This was super annoying and unprofessional.
Needless to say, I’m not coming back. I really question all the other reviews here.

Seriously love this place! They definitely know how to take care of you.
It turns out my insurance for vision is subpar, and not that many places accept it, but they were able to find other ways to help me out. Dr. Yu was spot on with my vision. My prescription was absolutely perfect! I had worn glasses since a child until I did lasik years ago, and the vision in one my eyes is slightly off now. This is the first time I’ve had a prescription for glasses that did not give me a headache at first.
In addition, Shaun as usual has superb taste in frames! She picked out my other pair a while back and the new ones I have now. Both times, especially now, I’ve received tons of compliments. She did a fabulous job picking my latest frames out and fitting them. They are ultra comfortable and perfect! I absolutely love them. The doctor said I could function without wearing a prescription, since my vision is only slightly off, but I find myself wearing them often, because they’re so cool and cute.
They are top of their field!

I went to Dr. Lee for the first time on August and I loved her! She is thorough and does it a great job of explaining what’s going on with changes in your vision. They were able to change the lens for both my sunglasses and eye glasses frames I already own. I’ll be coming back here!

Came in for an eye exam, had an appointment but waited about 30 minutes to see the doctor, beware of the up sell for a picture of your eyes to tell you if they have cholesterol? For an additional charge. Well I needed glasses so I was shown a few samples that I liked with my insurance it was going to cost me 575.00 witch I was going to get but I decided to shop around first so my charge was about 45.00! We’ll looking at my bank statement the next day they charged my card almost 600.00 dollars! This was over a holiday weekend so my weekend cash was depleted had to tap into my savings! I called the following Tuesday and told them they over charged me they said it would take 5 – 10 days to refund my money? Then they never e-​mailed me my prescription for a week! Called 3 times to get it! Once I finally got it I got nice pair of transition bifocals for 125.00 but guess what the sent me the wrong prescription so I got glasses with the wrong prescription in them! What a nightmare! I will never go back to this place again!

Dr. Lee and her team were so helpful. It’s been years since I’ve been to the optometrist. I have had floaters in my eye for years now and I was told from previous Doctors not to worry about it but, I couldn’t shake the fact that there’s something in my eye! :\ I knew I needed a check-​up because I was squinting a lot and 20⁄20 was recommended by my VSP provider.
I read their reviews on Unilocal and I noticed 20⁄20 had great reviews. Even if some people had complaints they still gave a rating of 4 stars. I also really appreciated that Dr. Lee took the time to comment on the reviews and used the reviews to help make improvements to her business and ensure great customer service. If someone is taking the time to respond and sincerely try to understand your Unilocal review, then my eyes are probably going to be pretty well looked after. ;)
Dr. Lee sat down with me for about 15 – 20 minutes and really explained everything that was going on with my eyes. Since I’m not trained on medical terminology she made sure I understood by giving me examples I could relate to. She explained what floaters are and she even sent a video on the subject. Very reassuring! After it was determined I needed glasses, I sat with Vangie and she helped to get me set up with a pair of glasses. She was very helpful and she was honest which is much appreciated.
20⁄20 set me up with a login that you can access from online. This is very helpful for me because all I use is email.

I have an eye disease called keratoconus which is basically when your cornea is misshaped (so its not a perfect dome shape). I had been seeing my optometrist at Kaiser for the last 14 years but she has since left and it was time to find a new specialist. Randomly, I was recommended to Dr. Lee from my friend’s cousin who happens to work with her.
I went in for my first visit and check up and I felt like I’ve known Dr. Lee for years. She is so friendly and easy to talk to and she works with many patients who have keratoconus. She definitely knew what she was talking about and had filled me in on some things about the disease I was unaware of. She reassured me she is quite experienced with it and has been working with multiple patients successfully. After a few visits, she was able to order me a new pair of hard lenses (requirement of the eye condition since glasses and normal soft contact lenses don’t work) and was able to fit them perfectly to my eyes. I have been using them comfortably for the last 6+ months.
I wish I had found Dr. Lee sooner. I can’t recommend her enough to others looking for a new optometrist. I know I will be staying with her for a long time.

After my recent experience with 20⁄20 Optometry of Silicon Valley I would highly recommend their service. One week after moving to San Jose from the east coast I had something trapped under my eye, and with no primary care set up in the area, and no optometrist, I was concerned about how I would address the issue. After an entire day of putting up with the pain I called 20/​20, the closest office to my apartment, and explained my situation. Although they had just closed they told me to come in and have an eye exam. Within ten minutes of arriving I had a piece of metal removed from underneath my eyelid, was given eye drops, and sent on my way pain free. Very thankful for the support of 20⁄20 Optometry!

Not disappointed one bit. So happy I went to see you and the whole 20⁄20 Staff.
I have known Shaun and Dr Lee for a few years now and it is the first time I seek their services. Pretty much it was overdue.
The staff is super friendly. But I am friendly too. It is rare for me to have a bad experience where I go. What you give is what you get sometimes folks.
I will not post my medical file here but I can say that a lot of my problems were cleared with the thorough examination. Most my life I have had almost 20⁄20 vision. The most it changed was by 1 point. And I am not a young chic anymore. So I have been pretty lucky. All the sudden my eyeballs hurt, among other things. Quite sad for someone that has never really had any trouble with vision.
As far as frame prices goes (and I have seen other reviews) I knew from the start that the shop had quality frames. If you can’t tell. I don’t know what to say. LOL I know when something is well made. That doesn’t mean I can afford it but to act surprised is kind of silly. Ok, I am done.
Anyway, it is worth it. And don’t expect crackerjack quality frames prices there. Thank Gwaddd! :D

I came here several months back due to it’s convienant location and great Unilocal reviews. I had also lost confidence in my last optometrist who seemed puzzled by my results for the last eye exam. I passed up on her presciption and waited until the new year to schedule an appointment at 20⁄20.
I showed up early, before they were open, but they let me come inside and wait. Everyone was friendly so I certainly got a good 1st impression of the place. My eye exam was conducted by Dr Xiao. She is probably the youngest Dr I’ve ever had, but nonetheless was friendly and appeared to know exactly what she was doing.
Dr Xiao also noticed the strange condition my eyes had which confirmed to me that my previous Dr was at least onto something. However, Dr Xiao immediately began asking me questions, and I described my experiences with my eyesight. Within a few minutes she described the condition I was experiencing! Something that had my last optometrist puzzled was immediately diagnosed by Dr Xiao.
Dr Xiao’s description of the condition seemed very similar to my symptoms. And as I read more about the condition later I became more and more convinced in her diagnosis. I’m so glad my condition is widely known about, that there is a treatment/​course of action, and I’m espcially glad Dr Xiao was able to quickly diagnose so we can get a game plan going.
Overall a great experience, going for my next appointment in 2 months.

Are you looking to go to the Eye Doctor and get sold on overpriced glasses the entire time? How about how being pushed to get a lasik eye exam to determine if you qualify for lasik surgery? They clearly get a cut if they find a qualified candidate they recommend. If you are interested in that kind of clear up-​selling than 20⁄20 Optometry may be the place for you. I left this place feeling less like I saw the doctor and more like I saw a car salesman. Definitely disappointed here.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Lee for some time now, and I have to say, even when I’m really only seeing them about once a year, walking into this office always feels like visiting old friends and family :) The whole staff from the reception desk to the stylists really make you feel welcome and shockingly remember your name and the things you chatted about when you were last in (even though they’re seeing different patients every day)! I don’t know how they do it, but it’s always so charming and homey :)
Dr. Lee herself is quite knowledgeable and I really appreciate how thorough her exams are – she checks for a lot of other health signs that might affect your eyesight outside of just the changes in your eyesight and seems genuinely interested in my overall health as a patient as well. She goes over things that I can do to help keep my eyes in good condition (which do work, because my eyesight definitely doesn’t change all that much in spite of all the time I spend in front of computers and in less than ideal environments) rather than just writing me a new prescription and getting me out the door to buy new glasses.
And when I do need to get a new pair of glasses, the stylists are really great and they have a really nice selection of frames :) I usually work with Shaun, and she has a great handle on face shapes and what works with my admittedly odd combination of a narrow face and a tallish nose bridge (I’m half Asian, half Caucasian). My favorite frames are something I would never have picked out for myself just looking at them on the display, but after she convinced me to try them on, I absolutely loved them :)
All in all, one of the friendliest offices I’ve ever been to, and all the ladies there really know their stuff :) I pretty much recommend them to anyone looking for quality, friendly eye-​care!

This is not the perfect optometry office, but it’s definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to.
My first visit was rocky to the say least. Their forms are SOOO long. It literally took me a good 20 minutes to fill out. What’s annoying is that it doesn’t work well in Google Chrome. There was no submit button and it only saved as a blank form despite it being already filled out. I had to do the whole thing all over again on an Ipad when I came into the office, which was frustrating!
The place is FULLY CLOSED from 1−2PM for lunch! My appt was at 2PM and I was mistakenly told to come in 15 – 20 minutes early to fill out forms. I ended up roasting in my car and stressing out to fill out all the forms to see the optometrist. Julie, the receptionist, later apologized. I appreciated that.
Everything was 100% awesome afterwards! Dr. Xiao is most detailed optometrist I’ve worked with. She picked out some of the best contacts I’ve ever worn. When I told her about my problem with the trial lenses, she figured out right away what the problem was and ordered another kind. She didn’t mind having to do more work and having to see me an extra time.
Shaun is also awesome with working with my insurance and finding great options with my budget. I wasn’t pressured into any hard sales when working with her.
I look forward to my next visit here and am feeling good about using them next year as well!!!

I called in to make an appointment after all the positive reviews. The front staff was very nice. I waited for about 15 minutes before having my pre-​exam tests completed. I was then seen by Dr. Xiao, who was very friendly and informative. We discussed new glasses as well as contacts and she gave me a couple of good options for contacts. We completed the exam and then she ordered the sample contacts. Two days later, they called to let me know the samples were in, including two difference strengths to try in one eye. I was going to be out of town, so she gave me the option to email her with my contact preference instead of making another appointment.
Overall, I was very happy with my experience and would be back for my next exam. The only knock was charging $ 15 for my pupillary distance measurements (which is charged if not purchasing glasses from them). I would have hoped this was included in my glasses and contact exam.

Got my eyeglasses and contact lens eye exams done here a couple of months back and I was overall pleased with my visits.
I made my exam appointment online from their website as new patient, they sent me a few emails asking me to confirm my appointment and reminded me also a few times that I would be charged for a fee if I didn’t show up at my appointment time along with a couple of phone calls — this I found was a bit too much; if I was already confirmed with you by email once, please don’t email or call me more than 2 times trying to confirm again and again, it was quite annoying. And as I arrived, I checked in Unilocal and there’s a promotion popped up saying that I get a welcome gift; I showed them the phone and they went and got me one of their regular pen that has their name on. I was like, really??? Then I just left it at the doctor’s table; even when Dr. Xiao came in and saw the pen, she thought it’s one of the office’s and put it back to her pen holder. [One star off here]
My exams were covered by my VSP insurance with a small co-​payment and $ 140 off for a year supplies of contact lens, plus there was rebate I could submit (still waiting for that rebate money though). I had Dr. Xiao doing my exam and she was very friendly and patience; I also had a follow-​up appointment with her 2 weeks later to make sure the new contact lens she prescribed fit me.
One thing I really liked though, was that they didn’t push me to order everything at once and they email the copies of my prescription right away; some optometry places tend not to provide this information even if I asked for it. All employees here were very nice and friendly, I do recommend this place and will come back here next year to get my new pair of glasses.
