Paddy Wagon Sliders

Every year we host a holiday shindig that fills our house with our nearest and dearest and every year I stress about the food… not anymore. Our holiday party was a huge hit with rave reviews for the food from Paddy Wagon Sliders. Yummy, great value, excellent service…125 hungry people… handled! Can’t wait for this December!

The sliders here come in interesting varieties featuring tasty, quality ingredients, for example the angus or Korean short rib sliders. Unfortunately, as the name makes clear, everything is slider (palm)-sized, and you get 2 sliders, plus a few tots on the side, for each order, which runs upwards of $ 8 – 9 including tax. Orders of tots can be similarly expensive, depending on what toppings you get.
For me, everything’s perfectly tasty and reasonably good quality, but just a tad pricey given the portion sizes. Definitely not a bad choice, however, if this truck comes your way and you’re willing to give it a try.

Everytime I get a chance to eat with PWS, their food is always on point! What I really love about them is that I can stay within my diet with them. I eat a low carb high fat diet (ketogenic) so I have to get the sliders protein style and they provide that! I have tried their food with the buns and its delicious with and without them. Another small detail I love about these guys sliders is how their prep their cheese. Its not a regular slice of cheese, they basically melt it into a cripsy cheese chip! I actually prep my cheese this way too and just snack on them because thats how I eat on my ketogenic diet.
If anyone gets the chance try their chili bang bowl! It has no beans and thats just how I love my chili! Their tots which isn’t low carb (potatoes starchy food) are awesome and cooked perfectly, love them when I do get to eat them. I love my eggs and bacon so I love that you can ask for extra. Oh also another protip, they have a veggie option! So vegetarians can munch here too!

We got a noticed from our apartment complex that the Paddy Wagon truck would be outside our building this evening and we are so grateful. Easily one of the best sliders I’ve had since moving from the NYC area. I can’t wait for it to come back again. We’ll get twice the sliders next time!
Staff was really friendly, and didn’t mind when we asked them to put our food into a rubber made to save on the waste packaging.

Tots are good. I did not know my sliders came with a few tots, so I also ordered the gilroy garlic tots as well. I probably would have done this anyway so I could try them.
I got the mac daddy sliders, which is basically their play on the McDonalds big mac. You get 2 sliders and a few tots for 8 dollars. They use King’s Hawaiian rolls for their bread. It is toasted slightly for a crispier texture.
Sliders were just okay to me. There was too much sauce and the produce was all soggy. I could barely tell if the meat was any good as the other flavors were overwhelming.
Please note that this truck does charge tax, so you won’t be able to just give a 20 an expect a clean 12 dollars back. They do take CC though, so that will save you from having too much change in your pocket.
I’d go back for tater tots, but not sure if I’d try another variety of the sliders. A little too pricey for some sliders.

Taste is good but you are paying too much for what you get. That’s a perfect size if you are 5 years old. So get ready to pay 9dlls for super baby mini sliders.

10÷26÷15 (update): It’s been a while since I had this truck, so I’m not 100% sure, but it appears their smaller-​than-​normal sliders (compare to other «sliders») has actually even shrunk more to miniature hors d’oeuvres! I dunno, maybe they’ve always been this size, but having had many burger trucks and sliders at various restaurants, these sure take the «slider» concept to the extreme… and now that I am tracking who charges tax or not, I found that their prices are extreme too!
So, I’ve started to note which trucks charge tax and which do not in my reviews in order to make prices comparable. The majority of trucks do not charge tax, so to be fair you have to be careful when comparing prices with those trucks that do. THIS TRUCK CHARGES TAX. I’d say only about 10% of trucks will charge tax, so keep that in mind.
1. Mac Daddy Sliders (special) $ 8 PLUS TAX: So it’s nearly $ 9 for two sliders and some tator tots. So let’s talk sizing. As I mentioned before, these are the tiniest sliders I have ever seen. How tiny? – take out 2 quarters and put them side by side. That is almost exactly the width of their bun. Yes, I did that on my own order. 2 quarters, or just a bit more than 1 ¼th in. Now, to be fair, their meat extends beyond the buns, BUT, seriously!!! If you took the amount of meat used, I would just estimate it to be about ¼th — ¹⁄₃^rd of the beef contained in your typical truck hamburger. So how was it? – well, the patties are small and thinner so it’s hard to get them a good medium-​pink, but they are cooked all the way through, though not dry. Meat’s okay. The buns are sweet Hawaiian which everyone loves. HOWEVER, for whatever reason, their buns stuck to the bottom of the paper tray, so trying to pick them up resulted in some of the bun being torn off, and the whole thing being a mess. But the stuff I did manage to get in my mouth did taste good. I would say food alone 5/​10, but given the stupid price and portions ³⁄₁₀.
1b. Tots: As I noted before, they’re quite good. Well fried and quite savory. However, construction-​wise, very similar to your frozen ones. Not sure if they were indeed the bulk frozen ones, but they do taste good. ⁶⁄₁₀.
2. Chili Bang Bowl $ 6 PLUS TAX: So, in a previous review I gave their chili a 10/​10, and yeah, it’s frickin’ amazing. Some of the best chili I have ever had, anywhere, at any price. So creamy, flavorful, meaty. Perfect. And it’s sized right for the price!!! This one had 3 tots in it and some ribbons of sour cream, and a little cheese. This is the one thing on this truck that is sized correctly for the price – pretty filling. Damn good. ¹⁰⁄₁₀
Their price just isn’t justifiable. The sizing of their sliders really is a joke, except you pay for it, literally. That chili though… amazing. But one single item out of a menu of 10 – 15 that’s great isn’t enough.

The custom flavored tater tots are definitely great and unique creations, however I am giving this truck a one star for their complete and utter dishonesty. Sure, this review won’t impact their 4.5 stars, and the guys who work there (at the San Mateo Bacon and Brew Festival) could care less about what I have to say, but let it be known that dishonest business will lose your customers. And I intend to share this same sentiment with my friends and family to cease any support to your business.
Long story short, if you aren’t familiar with this truck, they can get extremely busy. I have quite the patience for food and can easily wait an hour or so for an order. However, as soon as I get a hint of dishonest work, you lose me permanently. After having waited about 55 minutes, I inquired of my order that was Og Sliders and Garlic tater tots. I got the tots… But no sliders. So I kindly asked if they were coming, and the worker went directly into defense mode. «We already called your order. Where’s your receipt?» Well… I already gave it to you when you handed my tots…
But that wasn’t the kicker. He asked what I ordered and of course, like most everyone else, I told him «OG sliders»… Then what does he do?
He grabs number 22’s order, which mind you, was sitting on the side for the last 15 minutes. He says to me, «this is yours. They just forgot to give it to you.»
Sure buddy, that’s exactly the reason. You just handed me another person’s order because they didn’t pick it up after 15 minutes. I contemplated arguing with your dishonest actions, but given the circumstances, you’d probably just spit in my food.
Trust me when I say this: I will tell any and all of my friends and family who attend food truck events (I.e. off the grid) to avoid you guys. It takes one idiot employee to ruin your business. You know who you are.

very good tots. crispy, but not greasy. not dry either. i got the korean tots and it has a nice cheesy, korean bbq bulgogi topped with kimchi. there was also a hint of ginger.
i wish i can give it 5 stars, but $ 10 for tots in a truck is a tad much when i know i can get korean bbq bugolgi for about $ 10 – 12 at a b&m restaurant.

I recently went to the off the grid event in Sunnyvale and decided to try them out. I had their combination number 3 with veggie option and garlic tater tots.
I enjoyed their food and would definitely recommend this place to friends but the only complaint i would have is that its about $ 1.5 costly.

I was up in the Bay Area this past weekend and tried out Paddy Wagon Sliders at a «Off The Grid» event. I had the Gilroy Garlic tots, the garlic and parsley was pretty good. My friend tried the Chili Bang Bang Bowl and said it was good but wish there was bellpeppers in it! The only thing I didn’t like was the line, normally where I’m from, we are not used to waiting in long lines but other than that I wouldn’t mind eating at this food truck again!

I am super impressed that Calvin still remembered me and my name! I tried their Zombie tots and sliders for the first time almost two years ago. Bow down. Awesome creators. Awesome food.

Only idiots would pay 8 $ for cheesy tots and a light sprinkle of bacon. The ingredients weren’t worth the 8 $, I would understand if they contained top notch stuff, but they don’t
Anyone who has bought a bag of tots knows they are dirt cheap.

I came here with my mom when they were at an Off the Grid event near my house. We decided to give their Korean Zombie tots a try. Their tots were average — didn’t have as much a crunch as I would like my tater tots to have. The shredded rib eye meat was pretty tender, but I thought they were lacking in flavor. Paddy Wagon didn’t leave me feeling impressed, but I would come back to try some of their sliders.

REALLY awesome. They came to Eastridge Moveable Feast and it looked so good I had to give it a shot.
We got the Zombie tots and the Chicken Pesto tots. The tots on both were so crispy and weren’t greasy at all. Amazing. They even added garlic to mine free of charge. The meat (kbbq and chicken) on both meals was cooked perfectly and the sauces were so good. Huge portions! Everything went so well together! I will definitely be back to try other things at this truck.

Delicious OG, but ran out of the quail egg. I don’t think replacing the quail egg with a chicken egg was as effective because we went to this truck solely because of the quail egg. I won’t dock them on that though.
The tater tots were delicious and so was the baby burger. It was, however, extremely messy to the point that I immediately walked into the bffs apartment and washed my hands after eating it.
The people serving the food were super nice.

You know what they say about garlic and bad breath. Well I would pick garlic over smooch-​worthy breath every time, so sig others will have to deal with the garlic monster next to them. ;) I LOVEE the taste of garlic, not to mention the health benefits.
THUS gilroy garlic tots were a no brainer for me. Tossed in fresh parsley and locally grown Gilroy garlic. Well I could barely see any parsley. but definitely very garlic-​y. Mmm garlic heaven. Crispy exterior, soft interior. AND greasy, oh so greasy. I could feel my arteries clogging with every bite. $ 6. Nuh uh not worth $ 6.
Secondly, 2 chili bang bang sliders for $ 7. Quarter pound beef patty, bacon chili, shredded mild cheddar cheese. They threw in some extra tots next to these sliders too, which confused me, but after I figured out they were probably complimentary, everything was coo. Bread was soft, beef tasted fine (chewy not stiff), chili was GOOD (substantial, flavorful, not watery), and these sliders were better than I expected. Still. not exactly worth $ 7. Man am I cheap.
Pros: didn’t have to worry about vampires
Cons: pricing vs quantity/​quality (esp for a food truck)
I do want to come back and try the big fish slider! (Which I chose not to get because of fish tacos earlier in the day.) Surprised by the 4.5 star avg rating. maybe I’m missing something here.

PWS would probably get bumped up to 4 stars if I had it late night and drunk.

The O.G. ($ 7)
— The first one I tried was disappointing (2 Stars), but I paid $ 2 extra to get a fried egg (chicken egg — they don’t have quail eggs anymore) on top of the second one, and it made a pretty big difference (3 ½ Stars)
— The sliders would’ve both probably been a lot better though if they weren’t sitting on the counter for at least 5 minutes while the tots were being cooked
Korean Zombie Tots ($ 9) — 3 Stars
— These are the Korean, tater tot version of carne asada fries. They tasted pretty good, but I’ve gotta deduct ½ a star because the tots were so greasy that I could feel my organs slowing down as soon as I took my first bite. They didn’t look that greasy, but that’s because the tots had soaked up all the oil
Misc.
— Like I said, this would be better off as late-​night drunk food, but if you’re the type that eats JITB, La Vic’s, or Taco Bravo sober, and before 11p, then forget this tip
— They accept credit cards
— Your food is gonna take a while to come out, so bring something to do while you wait
— $ 18 for two items from a food truck is pretty overpriced

OG and Fish sliders= Amazing! Korean Zombie and Garlic tater tots =Amazeballs.
Definitely stalking this truck like a crazy ex girlfriend at its next location! Yuuuuummy!
