So so we bought bread in the evening and age it the next morning — it was stale and somewhat hard. Tried out the concha and cuernos. Cash only. Not sure if I’ll give it a second chance.

The bread is OK. At times early in the a. m the bread is not fresh. Once I went to buy a cake because I needed one a.s.a.p !!/asked the lady in the counter to write happy bday on the cake. Once I got home the writing was not even close to be readable, a mess !! Did I learn lesson, oh hell no !/went again to buy a tres leches cake, the cake was rotten. My sister went back and complained !! We did get our money back. But ask me if I am going back !! Hell no !!

Yee my first review as a 2015 Elite! I’m surprised I have never frequented this little Mexican bakery or panaderia as it is called. Located in the sketch/cutty spot on 13th Street across from the Valero gas station, is this little hidden gem. Please note it is CASHONLY. This humble little bakery has all of the traditional staples of a panaderia such as pan dulce(Mexican sweet bread), made to order cakes, slices of flan/tres leches, tamales, and licuados(Mexican smoothies). Since moving to my new spot in the neighborhood had me craving something sweet to keep me going, I opted for some pan dulce. I ordered a chocolate concha, sweet pink elote bread, and a pumpkin empanada. These three cost me a whopping $ 1 and some change. awesome! These sweet treats were a good sized portion and took me 4 days to finish them up since I had to pace myself from getting a sugar overload in one sitting. Even though I got these treats late in the afternoon, they were still fresh and soft. Overall, if you are in the neighborhood and a yearning for a sweet treat then definitely get your fixin’ at Ortiz Panaderia.

I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t know too much about Mexican pastries. I’ve been to Mexico maybe 4 times & tried pastries each time but still can’t figure out what’s considered good or bad because it’s hard to not compare them to European or American standards for pastries. I tried two cookies here & they reminded me of the Chinese almond cookies. They’re crumby, giant & are super cheap. They’re not fluffy like American sugar cookies but I assume that’s how they’re supposed to be. I got the regular sugar cookie with sprinkles & also the chocolate one with sprinkles. The worker there was friendly & the interior was clean. I like the exterior of the shop because it looks like a little house with steps in the doorway leading to the front door. I came toward end of the night so I felt like the selection was lacking.

Came here to get some rolls for some sausages for lunch and picked up a couple of treats for the co-workers. The place was small but clean and simple. The owner(i think) lady was very nice. She smiled when we walked in and smiled when we left. Very pleasant. The pastries looked fresh and tasted dericious! At least the ones I got haha. Four stars for the service and quality of the baked goods.

So yummy! I must start by saying my home town in Mexico is known for their pan. So right there I have high standards. This place is awesome. I’ve stopped in here before and last night after tacos nearby we came in to grab a pan each. UM ok so i walked out with a whole bag of delicious carbs! I highly recommend it and if you need to grab a milk they have it too. Stays open pretty late for a panaderia– we dropped in at 8[pm. Why didn’t it get 5 stars? It needs more variety… Other than that YUMMY! Street parking.

I love Pan Dulce and I am so glad that I found this place on my way to work. It’s very clean and the ladies there are so nice. They speak Spanish and English. Very reasonably priced and the only down side to this place is cash only.

This is a pretty genuine panaderia. It’s small inside, but stuffed with pastries, in addition to milk and other additions. I got some great pan for 55 cents. The woman spoke only Spanish, so know what you want and how to say it. It’s street parking, too.
