Magic Tan

My wife called last August and they told her $ 49 a month. When she got there it morphed to $ 79. They talked her into a 3 month commitment but would not accept cash. They insisted upon a credit card. 4 months later… still charging the card. January… still charging She went to the actual location and they told her she had to give 30 day notice to stop. Had to call the cc company to stop them.

Great, friendly, environment and staff. Attentive staff and always greeting you and remembering your name. They are great with explaining beds and lotions. I came in on a day they were closed due to building issues. Miles the owner was there and was super friendly and helpful. This location is one of three. The other two are in Willow Glen and the other on Hamilton. They also have a great selection of jewelry and purses for purchase. :)

Shout out to Kelly for her STELLAR customer service! I was happy to purchase another package after speaking with her over the phone and especially how she remembered our conversation when I came in and gave my info. She is super sweet and knowledgable about the beds and products carried at Magic Tan. Trust me, I had tons of questions since being away for a couple years as a tanning client but Kelly seemed happy to answer them.
Excited to hear they have opened another location on Hamilton Ave. which is closer to me but I will be commuting back to this location because of Kelly
Love the fact they still have the cute boutique upfront and will find the time next time to browse.

My favorite tanning place! Staff is super friendly I didn’t know how to use or know anything about tanning they were very friendly and taught me everything I needed to know also it’s so much cheaper than other places they always they have new deals every month so no matter where or how long it’s been they will accommodate my needs

I have been tanning for the about 6 months now. Love this place! Customer service is awesome! They never disappoint.
I pay 89 $ a month for unlimited tanning! Personally, that’s a great deal because I used to pay 25 $ at a place back home for each session.
With this package, you get 25% off products and you can tan in ANY bed you’d like. For one service, it’s averages about 35 $ already.
I highly recommend using the matrix lay down bed. you could see the results after 2 sessions.
If you don’t want your package deal anymore, they could cancel it and hold your account for a dollar a month until you want to continue it. :)

I’m reading all of the bad reviews thinking, «Is this the same place I just went??» I had an amazing experience! I bought the Groupon for my wedding, and the woman who helped me on the phone said to come in a few days before the wedding because the tan needs to fade a little to get the best color. I went in on a Thursday (my wedding was Saturday). Alyssa was so adorable and sweet, and she definitely made me feel comfortable while getting my spray tan (topless with tiny paper undies on). She explained everything in detail and I was really excited about finally having a tan stomach!
After my spray tan, I stepped into some crazy machine that made me feel like I was on Star Trek that apparently sets your tan. I loved it. There is a freaking radio inside that you can tune to a station you like! It was too cool.
My tan looked AMAZING on my wedding day and everyone was really impressed. No streaks, blotches, or orange shade. No dark knees or elbows.
I am going back for sure before my honeymoon.
Note: The day I got the spray tan, I was so dark that I kinda freaked out. People looked at me funny. Do not worry. The next day I used a light body wash and it removed the initial bronzer layer. It looks much better. Just don’t plan to go anywhere else that first day or people will stare!

Very clean and the girls are very helpful, I had a wrap the first time I had to many towels and did sweat that much, the second time was great no towel sweated a lot. The only thing I recommend is putting towels were the hot spots are — I got burn and have a blister on my stomach.

This place is a great tanning salon because it has a Vit. D machine with the safer type of balasts, which is recommended by health care practitioners.
The machines are always clean. I’ve known of several bulb changes, so I know they’re routinely maintenancing their machines. There’s usually only a short wait, if any. It’s conveniently located, with easy parking.
You will have to review and scrutinize your membership or package contracts, carefully.
They use an outside billing service which provides a convenient excuse for why memberships must be canceled a month in advance, changes to credit cards must be days in advance, they can’t issue any refunds, nor make any exceptions for any reasons etc. Like any contact, the «small print» details might read more clearly than the verbal explanation given in the salon. I run my business prioritizing customer service, which means occasionally I choose to make exceptions to our policies based on human logic and decision making. I guess using outside billing eliminates that aspect of customer service. So my advice to Unilocal users would be, make sure your signing up for the package or membership plan that is the best deal for your usage, by doing the math, not solely listening to the sales pitch, and then read your contract. I misunderstood what I chose, and it wasn’t the best deal for me out of the options available.
This salon caters more to cosmetic use clients, over health use, but that’s understandable, because that’s going to be most of their business. Although, they’re friendly with all clients; I don’t care for the way the memberships and point systems are currently set up. I’m only a seasonal tanner, using this service for health purposes only. It seems like their memberships and packages are set up to better serve cosmetic users, who’ll be using services year round. So for my limited seasonal use, there’s not options that provide a good value. The previous owner had a «star» points system that worked out better for my needs. Unfortunately I lost my stars when they changed computer systems and owners. It was a couple years later, but when I purchased them, but they were not supposed to expire. I understand the new owner would need to make changes, of course. I’m just disappointed that the changes disadvantaged my type of very limited salon use.

Love this tanning salon! I couldn’t be happier with my membership. I always get excellent service, the ladies who work there are always very nice and friendly, and the place is always spotless. Big kudos to the staff at Magic Tan on Thornwood!

The manager called me and let me know that she talked to groupon and they would let me use it before the six months is up. It was a really nice gesture. Thank you Lindsay.

Recently came in for a tan. I was a bit nervous because I didn’t want to look like an orange walking out… Thankfully I did not! After first session, It looked extremely blotchy, but the staff told me it was normal for the first day until you shower. It’s been almost a week and I am happy with the results and the price was reasonable! + I got a buy one get one free visit!

Being a naturally tan person I don’t have a lot of experience with tanning salons, but I recently decided to try an air brush tan since my lower and upper body colors were not quite the same and I was going on a ladies weekend:)…I LOVED it! Holly did an awesome job! The tan looked so natural and there were no imperfections at all. I was also so surprised at how long my tan lasted. After 10 days, it still looked great… I will definitely be back! The salon is also very clean and sells lots of other great items like jewelry and purses!

This place is great! Very friendly people, VERY CLEAN BEDS every time I go in there, and the best prices in town :)

So happy to hear that Magic Tan is under new ownership. After my horrific experience last year, the new manager contacted me for a make-​up session.
I was so happy to re-​visit because Olivia and Alyssa were super sweet to me. Apparently, they couldn’t find me in their system so they were convinced I had never been to Magic Tan. Well, I’m not surprised I was never inputted into the system after having that huge altercation with the previous manager! I happily gave them my info again and they walked me through everything I needed to know. Best of all, they kept a positive attitude and warm smiles.
These girls made the VersaSpray tan so easy to understand. They made sure I felt comfortable before I started the tan and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The result: Zero confusion and a perfect tan that lasted over a week! I love the VersaSpray tan and will come back to Magic Tan whenever I need a little fake and bake. =D

I forgot my ring hanging on the hook in the room I tanned in yesterday. It was given to me by my grandmother and was very special to me. I left a sad voicemail after hours and hoped they had it. I got a call from Lindsey saying that a man who tanned inside that same room brought it out to her this morning saying «hey look what I found». THANK GOODNESS for nice people in this world! I am truly thankful to whoever that man is and to Lindsey for making sure it was safe until I came to pick it up! Two Thumbs up to Magic Tan for being an awesome place to tan and for their honest employees!

Never thought I would say anything bad about this place until TODAY! Been coming here ever since they opened their doors over 15 years and was ready to buy a package until they said they couldnt find me in their «new» system and I had to pay a $ 20.00 enrollment fee! What BS! And they were really nice but could careless that I walked out! Welcome to 2014! Great work ethics!

I went to Cancun for two weeks and just got back on June 1^st and had a new debit card waiting for me in the mail because I forgot to notify BofA I was traveling to Mexico and I used my debit card several times down there so they canelled it as a precaution. I called Magic Tan yesterday (June 3^rd) and gave them my new debit card number. I just checked my account and they billed me an extra $ 10.00 because my card declined on June 1^st when they ran it. I called and asked if they would waive the $ 10.00 fee and the girl said I will ask my Manager but I doubt she we will. What kind of response/​customer service is that? I am coming in to cancel my membership today and they can keep the extra $ 10.00…hope it was worth it!

I don’t know how this place had so many bad reviews. I’ve visited this location plenty of times and have always been greeted and treated nicely. The first time I ever walked in, it was just to browse their pricing on tanning packages. Weeks later, I returned to choose a package and I was treated kindly both times.
Tanning rooms/​beds are clean. The girls are good people, you’re in there to tan people… are they supposed to kiss your feet? FYI If you want to be treated with a friendly attitude you have to give a friendly attitude as well. Jesus people! The world does not revolve around you.
I work in customer service and it’s aggravating to deal with people who feel like because we’re behind the counter we don’t deserve respect.

I really enjoy the machines at this location! The quality and cleanliness is far superior than other salons I’ve been to. Being the smartass I am, I’ve tried to fool the staff with invalid statements and they would always pleasantly correct me.
Tip– Try the wrap at least twice!
