InstaMaids

Started with 5 stars in terms of response for initial questions I asked and booking the appointment online. From there, the following stars were deducted:
–1: My appointment time was 1−2pm, the cleaners started blowing up my phone at 10 (called me 3 times while I was in a meeting) to ask if they can come at 12pm. We decide through text that 2pm would be best.
–1: At 1:40pm I receive a text from cleaners saying they’re running little late. I texted at 2:15 asking when I can expect them, I could run other errands if they were going to be a while. No response. I called the company directly, I’m told they’re 5 minutes away. Fast forward to 3:15, called the company again as there is no show. Call the company again at 3:45… he tells me the cleaners are stuck in traffic. I asked where they’re coming from b/​c no point in the bay area should it take you 2 hours to get to unless a freeway had shut down, which it hadn’t. He tells me they’re coming from Fremont, I know for a FACT it does not take 2 hours to get to San Jose from Fremont on a Wednesday afternoon at 2PM. I checked Google Maps to confirm, it said travel time 35 mins. I was offered $ 10 off for the inconvenience… appreciated, but my 2 hrs wasted are worth more than $ 10. And I thought it was interesting that the cleaners thought it was ok to blow up my phone when they needed to get a hold of me, but when I called/​texted I got no response.
–1: The cleaners showed up at 4pm… 2 HOURS LATE! No apology, no explanation, no nothing. They did a decent job cleaning. I found my night stand in the master bedroom to still be dirty. And there were dust residue after they wiped down certain areas. Attention to details is not of importance for them.
–1: The cleaner texted me AFTER they left to say sorry for being late and that they have called the company and asked them to send someone else because they were behind. I don’t know who is telling the truth, but inconsistency is not appreciated. The owner blames the cleaners and cleaners blames the owner. And I don’t need a text AFTER you’ve left to explain, that should have been done in person when you arrived.

Folks at Instamaid are very courteous and provide an excellent service! The cleaners that came to my place were on time, polite and did an excellent job! I strongly recommend this to everyone. –Vanu

Recently got my apartment cleaned. They did decent job.

After my Unilocal review on 12÷6÷2015 I am glad the company is taking the reviews seriously and cared to contact the customer to enquire if they can do something about the issue.

Website: The website and booking is simple and amazing. Expensive, but I wanted to try. My appointment was yesterday at 8; a two member maids team arrived at 8:45. Both the maids were found to be on the phone talking while cleaning.
Poor Service: Not happy with the service and quality of Job. On the website, I had selected an option to clean the wall. The main maid is asked me what does it mean cleaning the wall. I was shocked that they asked the client –what does it mean. I expect them to know what service are they offering.
Cleanup: After the cleanup i found various uncleaned areas. The range, the backsplash, the range hood, bathroom mirror were left with dust accumulated due to unfinished cleaning.
I am not picky if people are taking care of their urgent business while working, but I saw them talking on the phone for a long time. On top of that the surfaces left unclean left me unhappy.
Recommendation: I will not recommend this service. Even after paying a higher price, they didn’t deliver good service. Will not use them in future.
I will end up cleaning what they left behind my self.

Excellent work! Great communication from their dispatch persons David and Sara. The team of two people came on time and did a wonderful job of cleaning the house. I am very impressed by the quality of their work and their professionalism. Being on the monthly plan, David is already setting up my dates for the next month. This is great since I don’t need to think ahead. Keep up the good work folks!

We closed on our new home and needed to move in right away. InstaMaids was the only one that seemed to be able to squeeze us in and on New Years no less. They always answer the phone (big plus) and they are very helpful. I booked the reservation online and received a confirmation email. They called the day before to confirm.
The house was bank owned and had spiders for residences for the last 8 months. Needless to say the place was not looking so good. Sara and her crew arrived on time and ready to work. They scrubbed this house from top to bottom, windows, walls, cabinets floors — did I mention it is 5,000 sq ft. It basically took them all day. At one point I was worried they were going to tell me they had to leave because they had another house to clean — no way! They stayed until 6pm on New Years Eve! They were so nice about it and I must say the house looks brand new and I can’t wait to move our things in and just unpack everything right into all my clean spaces. Thank you so much InstaMaids! Would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

I’ve been using InstaMaids for bi-​weekly or monthly cleaning of my house for about 3 years, and I have been very pleased, especially with the ease of scheduling and rescheduling when things come up. Working full time (and sometimes more), I often can’t spare the time to play phone tag, so being able to send a quick email and always get a prompt reply is ideal. Plus, I can leave a key for them and not have to worry about being there and getting in the way!
For the most part, I’m satisfied with the cleaning job they do, although sometimes I notice that they’ve missed a cobweb or dust, especially in higher spots. I do love coming home and seeing and smelling a freshly cleaned house, and I think their fees are reasonable and well worth it!

I’ve added a star back after talking with David and reading Greg’s comments. Very happy to see that customer service is a high priority.

I’ve been using Instamaids for bi-​weekly cleanings for awhile now and even though some of the poor reviews hit some of the «opportunities for improvement» spot on — as an overall maintenance cleaner they are effective.
I am very particular about how I like my home cleaned and if guided, for the most part the cleaners try their best to accommodate. I have had days where they have forgotten whole areas of the house and then the next time do a stellar job.
I primarily get the same crew, but there are personal emergencies that we all have, that changes the team up and those are the times I find things get missed or are not done exactly like I would like. I do feel they don’t spend as much time as I would like at my home-​possibly they are overbooked and since I don’t have kids my house looks the same every time. But I know where the dust and dirt is and when I call it out it gets cleaned.
When the house is done it always smells fresh and clean. They take extra time with my floors and it’s appreciated. The teams I’ve had are always pleasant, polite and remove their shoes. It’s very easy to communicate with the main office and I like that my emails are responded to promptly.
I’ve gone through probably 6 different cleaning services while living in San Jose and this group is the only one that I feel is consistent enough — even though not perfect — that I trust to do my home on a regular basis.

Firstly, I would say that their booking process was very efficient and precise. We do not need to wait in phone or give voice mail. Just open their site and give your specifications and get your estimated time and amount right away. You easily get their bookings without a wait list which was pretty impressive. I booked for a 9am slot but they mailed me about the time change to 12:30 pm a day before and asked my preference. They showed up by 12:45 pm which was fine with my schedule.
I would say the cleaning done was worth the wait. The team was Maria del rio’s team which had 3 members. They did an amazing job i would say. They were active and very sincere right from the moment they entered my home. My house was pretty well maintained though not very untidy. They gave importance to minute details of the house especially in the kitchen. The kitchen was cleaned perfectly. The bathroom shower door looked new too. I am impressed with their work and will surely book again. Thanks maria del rio and instamaid for the good Job. keep going!

My appointment was for 10 am. The 3 maids showed up at 1115 today. Last time the were only 1 hour late. A different crew than the previous than previous so I now have to go through the process of giving directions to this crew.
I called David the manager he said I should get the 1^st appointment of the day at 8am so that I won’t have to wait next time. I asked Sarah the maid today she says her 1^st appointment is at 630 am??? I don’t know who to believe now.

Giving them a second try two years later and poof I get this message «The crew we had scheduled for Sunday just called in due to an emergency». I guess things never change. I see InstaMaids becoming the next closed Homejoy.

I was out of my apartment for a few weeks, and my place was in need of a serious clean.
My apartment community manager was able to book InstaMaids for a next day clean and it was an easy process for billing, logistics, and the cleaning crew was able to follow the directions that I had left.
When my guests came over, they said the place was really clean, and I said that everything was handled well by the InstaMaids team and my apartment community manager.

These guys saved me! I actually found them through Google. It was moving day last Monday Sept 28^th and both my husband and I thought we could handle cleaning the house for the new owners that bought our home. Well Monday morning came and we both looked at each other and said «why didn’t we hire someone to do this???» I frantically started making phones calls that morning, but of course on such short notice I wasn’t having any luck. Then I found Instamaids through Google. I submitted my request through their website and then annoyingly called them right away to see if they had availability. David, who helped get a crew scheduled was very nice and patient. It turns out they had a crew available. The ladies showed up at 1:00 and were finished by 3:45. They did a fantastic job! THANK YOU!!!

I hired this company for bi-​weekly cleanings. I requested 3 maids.
1^st appointment: One maid shows up on time and says that the other 2 are coming soon. The other 2 show up 1.5 hours late. I requested 3 maids so that the cleaners would be in & out of our house as soon as possible. How does it help for the other 2 to show up late?
2^nd appointment: 3 maids showed up 40 minutes late. They spent less than half the time estimated for cleaning a house our size. Not surprisingly many spots were missed. My kitchen counter top was still sticky!
3^rd appointment: Nobody showed up.

Upgrading to 5 stars for consistency. I have been using their services for several months now. Maria and her crew have always turned up in a timely manner and done a good job. Recommended.

Monica and her partner were great. They were prompt, did a fantastic job (probably the best I’ve had done for far less than I’ve paid other companies in the past) and was accurate in her time estimation of completion. I am super happy and will continue to use both Instamaids and Monica in the future.
Their booking system is a little weird (you don’t quite know if you’ve got an appointment until you get a confirmation email a few days later), but using stripe for their payment processing makes it very easy. As a side note, I didn’t see a way to electronically add tip, so I had to ensure I grabbed cash. Hopefully they will fix both their booking system and their tip situation soon, but certainly don’t let these things stop you from booking with them.

I was really excited to work with this company. I read a number of reviews — most positive and a few negative — and booked them for Friday, August 21, 2015, for a 5pm appointment in San Mateo.
I received a call that morning at 8:28am by a crew asking if they could come to clean my home in the next half hour. I explained that I was at work and could not be home that early to let them in. The gentleman calling me did not speak much English, but after a patient conversation, he was clear that my appointment had been scheduled for 5pm; it was also clear that the crew was surprised by this time frame. I wondered why this was a surprise, considering that the 5pm time slot was an option on the website.
I then received a phone call at about 2:00pm from a manager or booking agent at the office. He was calling to let me know that he had been trying to move the crews around in order to get someone to my home that day, but the 5:00pm appointment was simply too late to honor. To his credit, he was very nice and he offered me options for a Saturday appointment, but at this point, I am done with this company.
A few good business practice suggestions: show only the appointment times that can actually be honored; use callers who are better able to communicate with your customers as your points of contact; and honor your scheduled appointments within a reasonable time period — asking to complete the project a full 8 hours before the original appointment time is unacceptable.

I have used InstaMaids in San Jose since 2012 and have been very happy! The team always does an amazing job. The first time I used them, I was hooked after I saw their attention to detail. I get once a month cleanings for my 1BR apartment and since I’m on the monthly schedule I get a discounted rate. I wish I could have them come weekly, but since they do such a great job, I really don’t need it. It’s that good!
Whenever I have small issues, like a misplaced remote control or a missed spot, they quickly resolve it and make sure I’m 100% satisfied. They even are sweet to my little dog who can be afraid of the vacuum cleaner :)
I moved into a new place in September and I’m happy to have the team back to help me maintain my place. I recommend them gladly!!!
