WHy is Unilocal removing my reviews?
This was a go to place for my Halo Halo fix. Various fruits (macapuno, jackfruit, etc), jellies, and taro ive cream put together with shaved ice and condensed milk. A caloric bomb for sure. RIP

25 different flavors on the day I came in. Frozen yogurt machine «under maintenance.»
This place has all kinds of unusual & specialty flavors: ube, cheese, durian, macapuno (young coconut), buko pandan, taro, and oatmeal to name a few.
Unfortunately, their «traditional» flavors selection is lacking– a variety of fruity flavors, chocolate, mint chip and vanilla with orange sherbet with a few others.
I had the mint chip, it was sweet, minty, and hard to eat because the ice cream is very thick. Like eating an ice cream taffy of sorts. It had what looked like Andes mints broken up in it in lieu of traditional chocolate flakes. This made it extra minty and added a bit of crunch.
The portions were generous and as I said the ice cream was very thick so I was very full after my single scoop.
Service is adequate, man behind the counter was very quiet which made him hard to understand. He let my mom sample the mango with a generous spoonful– She chose the chocolate though.
Overall, a good amount of flavorful ice cream for $ 2.25. Just depends on if you like the flavors & consistency. For me, it was good but I probably won’t be a frequenting this too often.

the owner or a rep came by to my old student org’s event at Cal, and catered some ice cream. mango and ube YUMMM!
can’t say anything about the shop, but who cares. i’m not here to lick the walls. he had 2 hugs 5 gallon tubs. i’m always skeptical about these flavors, because if it’s not magnolia in the philippines (not even the stuff you get at stores here), then i don’t want to even try.
but he was talking it up, so hey, i tried. and i’m glad i did! the ice cream was creamy and not overbearingly sweet. the ube had that depth, and sometimes warm flavor to it, and the buttery goodness made me try even harder to forget how many calories were in my cup.
the mango has whole chunks of mango in it! it’s not just orange-​colored, there are sweet chunks of real fruit in there, and lots of it.
i think what made me even happier, is that he was obviously proud of his ice cream. he told me to Unilocal it, or facebook it. and here i am, and looking forward to being in the area and having it again!

How can a corporate chain like «Stinkberry» just come in and open up a a shop in the same shopping center, a mere ten steps away from a small mom and pop ice cream shop?
Apparently, because they can. And well, that’s so shady. Just the sight of that stupid Stinkberry shop next to this little shop really upset me one night. So much so, I had to stop by and buy a scoop of ice cream.
Luckily for Heavenly Scoops, I love rooting for the underdog. Whether it’s a fictional boxing underdog like Rocky who took the athletically superior Apollo Creed to the brink of defeat or a real baseball underdog like the overachieving, super low payroll 2003 Marlins who upset the high payroll bully New York Yankees in the World Series that year. Those are underdogs that had to be intelligent, savvy, and resourceful to pull out a victory.
And luckily for them, I love rooting against the bully. Whether it’s a fictional bully like Scut Farkus in «A Christmas Story» that buries kids in snow or a real baseball bully like the overachieving, super high payroll 2010 San Francisco Giants who paid their way to World Series title last year. These are real bullies who were just bigger, stronger, or spent more than their competition.
Random Rant: When a league is compromised of 30 teams, lacks a financial salary cap when it comes to player contracts like all other much more entertaining professional sports, and you can spend more than 22 to 25 teams each year — then you are a high payroll bully. That’s why I don’t I cheer for San Francisco Giants, which essentially paid their way to World Series Win. Congratulations to you and your fair weather fans.
So Heavenly Scoops had the «David vs. Goliath» mentality in their favor. But in the end, if you want to win the fight, you need to throw some punches. So let’s break down the fight between «Heavenly Scoops» and «Stinkberry.»
LET’S get ready to RUMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE!
ROUND 1 — DECOR AND AMBIANCE:
Stinkberry: Super corporate look with zero personality. Every store is the same. Lame.
Heavenly Scoops: Total unorganized with handmade signs and random posters featuring palm trees, ice cream flavors, and Filipina actresses. Weird. But charming.
ROUND 1 WINNER: Heavenly Scoops.
ROUND 2 — PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Stinkberry: They offer a variety of payment options such as cash, credit, dignity, and soul.
Heavenly Scoops: Cash only. Is this 1972?
ROUND 2 WINNER: Stinkberry.
ROUND 3 — STAFF:
Stinkberry: Some little Asian girl with black rimmed glasses with a slightly bored look on her face. Is it a prerequisite to be about 5 feet tall, with a black rimmed glasses, and a pony tail to work at Stinkberry?
Heavenly Scoops: Either some guy with a Filipino accent or young girl that looks as if she could be the next Alexandra Wallace that makes the next great YouTube video. Hey, this place definitely has some character.
ROUND 3 WINNER: Heavenly Scoops.
ROUND 4 — PRICE:
Stinkberry: For whatever reason, in the world of fro-​yo, the smallest size is not small. It’s actually mini. What the heck?
This is how they fool you into buying more than you really want (and the price tag then hovers around $ 5 or more). This irks me. Whenever I go buy a t-​shirt and I want to purchase a small, I don’t tell the staff that I am looking for size «mini.» Then again, it would be hilarious for women to start describing penises as «mini.»
Heavenly Scoops: Your order can be kept simple and hover around $ 3 (if you are watching your weight and wallet). At Heavenly Scoops, a small is a small. I’ll take that every time.
ROUND 4 WINNER: Heavenly Scoops.
ROUND 5 — DESSERT OFFERINGS:
Stinkberry: Super tart frozen yogurt in an assortment of flavors that all taste pretty much the same. Essentially, like something cold and tart. Well, except for green tea, which tastes like baby puke.
Heavenly Scoops: You have a choice of tropical ice cream flavors that look like Play-​Doh and taste like sugary, creamy air. I had a scoop of some purple yam flavor that was excellent. Or you can opt for ice cream that tastes fluffy and extra creamy. They have rotating flavors. I had a scoop chocolate chip cookie dough. It was heavenly. Pun intended.
It was so heavenly, I was tempted me steal the whole bucket and run. But then I realized I am too fat (due to ice cream) and I would be caught immediately. So much for that idea.
In addition to tropical and conventional ice cream, they also offer vanilla fro-​yo, various toppings, crepes, and shakes. It has a little something for everybody (who enjoys being fat).
ROUND 5 WINNER: Heavenly Scoops.
So there you have it. The winner by unanimous decision, thanks in large part to character, personality, and the sugary goodness is…

I drive by this place all the time and have always wanted to try it. I guess it hasn’t been open every time I wanted to. But fortunately, I was in the area and it was open that day.
The customer service here is top notch. They’re ready to serve, ask if you have questions, and are happy to give samples. I sampled the Pandan and the jackfruit and I was sold on those two flavors, even though I only wanted one scoop coming in.
I’m pretty sure they make this ice cream themselves. In one of the bites I had, I could taste a hint of salt. That probably doesn’t sound like a good thing, but to me it was because it sort of justified authenticity. Plus it was only one bite. The rest was amazing and salt-​free.
They have a large variety of other lesser-​known flavors like Ube and Horchata. And the basic ones like vanilla and chocolate to those less daring to try the exotic ones.
Good ice cream, good service, and a clean/​friendly environment. As I walked out happily with my two-​scoop cup, the owner (I assume) asked if I liked to Unilocal.Surprised, I said yes. He then so kindly asked if I could Unilocal his shop.
So here’s your Unilocal review, and thanks for the ice cream!

My first impression of this place had been… okay. another ice cream shop. But since the weather had been so nice lately. ice cream sounded pretty good… since there’s like a Pinkberry springing up in every corner nowadays. but to my surprise it wasn’t just any ice cream shop… it was an Asian ice cream shop!
They had a variety of flavors from your standard. oreo. vanilla. to cinnamon chocoate to a little more exotic… lychee. ube. durian. mango. jackfruit. coconut. strawberry & mangoo. whatttt?! Strawberry AND mango… sold!
The girl behind the counter was extremely patient with me as I sampled pretty much half the store and was pretty knowledgeable about the origin of all their flavors.
Apparently, they make the majority of their flavors in their store and even cater to many restaurants around the bay area. So pretty much. every time I’ve eaten out at an Asian restaurant. ive overpaid 5x for their dessert. good to know.
So I finally decided on the strawberry & mango, oreo, and cinnamon chocolate.
That’s 3 scoops of ice cream for a whopping… wait for it… $ 4.50. whOa. There’s no where you can get 3 scoops of anything for under $ 5 – 6 nowadays.
The ice cream itself was fluffy & creamy at the same time.
The strawberry mango started off fruity with the strawberry then it went a bit tart with the mango & then there was a nice creamy finish. The oreo had nice thick pieces of cookies that werent crunchy but rather soft. yum!
The cinnamon chocolate was interesting. the cinnamon wasnt overpowering which was a good thing since I’m not a big fan of cinnamon and the chocolate was a pleasant milky one. not the usual dark bitter one.
I only got to try about 7 flavors but ill be back to try the other 79 649 873 489 ones that they have since it’s right next to the AMC. (pitstop!) but you can never go wrong with a Mom & Pop shop.

I feel bad for this review because the girl behind the counter was so nice with the samples and all the questions but unfortunately, the ice cream just didn’t live up to the hype. I LOVE ice cream and I can eat a whole pint of Haagen Daz french vanilla straight out of the tub but when it came to the mango mango and the piña colada here, between me and my little brother, we could only finish half of our ice cream…
So get this: two fat asses can only stomache 1 scoop between the two of them of typically beloved flavors… AND we’re asian! AND the ice cream was only $ 1 a scoop because of some coupon that came in the mail.
What happened you say? Well, the bottom line is that the ice cream was WAAYYY too sweet, melted too quickly, and was strangely sticky. The samples tasted pretty good but it’s like the tacos from the foodtrucks that get turned into burritos: proportions are really off for massive quantities…

Me & my friend was on our trip to Pinkberry on Saratoga when we noticed this store & I thought it was a cute name so we decided to check it out while we were waiting for Pinkberry’s happy hour. When we went in, the guy who was working there offered us some samples and was really nice. Heavenly scoops have flavors you don’t usually find in other ice cream stores such as Jackfruit or Durian. I sampled the pralines and it was really good, & then I sampled the green tea and it was reaaally really good so I just had to get that! I’m picky when it comes to green tea ice cream, but this was one of the best green tea ice creams I had. The texture was smooth and so good. :)
Before we left, the guy who was working there offered us a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free scoops! :D

If you’re sick of yogurt, this place is ice cream threrapy. Heavenly Scoops gets the stars as they have flavors that you don’t usually find around. E.g. Durian, Pandan, etc. They’re what they call, «tropical» flavors. The texture of the ice cream is smooth and the Pandan that I had had bits of coconut in it. Not too sweet which is good but I’m a bit skeptical about the colors being natural. Regardless, the ice cream tastes good and the price is right too, plus it’s close to Trader Joe’s and Target so additional points for convenience. Also, your plastic is no good since it’s cash only as other reviewers have pointed out.
P. s. don’t forget to use the cones instead of paper cups. Cones go into your belly and not into the trash bin.

I love it when there is competition next door. I am super anti-​Pinkberry and totally pro home made ice cream made in the back. MOM AND POPS. only place to stops!
I came here on a whim and my how my old stomping ground has changed in the past ten years!
I tried the ube and it was yummy but not what I was craving…
I asked the girl running the counter (who had a purple stained apron from making the ube ice cream in the back) what the most popular flavors were… I ended up with the piña colada.
Well balanced and the texture was perfect.

They also have a stamp card for all you frequent flyers/​repeat customers who want some kind of validation for your love of this place in the form of a free cone.

I really wanted to like this place because you can’t find many places that offer tropical/​exotic flavor ice creams but the ice cream just didn’t do it for me. They offered ube, lychee, green tea, cheese&corn (wtf, right?!), durian but after trying a couple, none of them really interest me. I ended up getting a scoop of the mint chip. A good thing about this place is that they are very generous with the scoops. One scoop could be shared between two and the price is good thing. Under 3 dollars, I think? Overall, I think this is a nice & clean place to try some exotic ice cream if you’ve never had it but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

I ordered a scoop of the Kahlua Crunch ($ 2.25). Three bites in, awesome. Fourth bite in, a bit too sweet for me.
My friend ordered the Strawberry-​Mango and I liked it much better.
Ice cream here is affordable, delicious, and creative.

Corn and cheese, macapuno, piña colada, chai tea– I tried all these as the girl behind the counter patiently waited for me to choose. There are so many flavors to choose from– traditional to tropical. The texture is soft and smooth and it melts kind of fast so eat it quickly, especially on a warm day. I ended up getting the macapuno, which is coconut flavored. It had some pieces of coconut in it which was kind of cool and added to the texture of ice cream.
I wish I could have tried all the flavors, but I would have felt bad asking for everything. I’ll probably go back to try some more flavors and to find the one that makes me a fan.

First of all, this place accepts cash only. Today I got a smoothie here and it was by far the worst smoothie that I’ve ever had in my life. It had a weird taste to it and it was almost like drinking flavored ice with a not so great flavor. The weird thing is that they don’t list what flavors they have so I asked the cashier what they did have. I asked for a pineapple one but they had no pineapple so I settled for a strawberry banana smoothie instead.
I wasted $ 4.95 plus tax on that horrible smoothie that didn’t taste anything like strawberries or banana. I’m not sure what she used in it, but no frozen yogurt or real fruit was in it. I threw most of it away. I only drank a little since I have a sore throat and was thirsty.
They do have a lot of different kinds of exotic ice cream there from Avacado, to Lychee and Durian, as well as regular flavors like chocolate. They have crepes too. So if you like exotic ice cream, this is the place for you. Stay away from the smoothies though, trust me, it was awful and if you get one after reading this, you’ll wish you would’ve listened to me.

Interesting flavors… I tried the «corn & cheese» (or rather, maíz y queso as it was called) and it was GROSS. I’ve had garlic ice cream. I’ve had other weird ice creams, I think. But this was grooooooooss.
I got a scoop of mud slide type ice cream and it was actually really good and sort of different textured than other ice creams I’ve had, again, in a good way.
They had signs all over the place saying «please use cash» so I’m not sure if that was a demand or a request, so have cash on hand.

Pretty extensive tropical fruit flavors to choose from. You also get a free scoop for every 2 you buy, which was a total added value! Friendly server gave samples but I noticed that some of the samples had specs of ice in them. Icicles make me think that it was from an old canister. Bleh. The popular flavors did not have that and included tons of frozen fruit (ie: Mango Mango, Lychee Coconut.)
Not a bad place for ice cream lovers but still unsure if the ice cream is artisan or from a mass manufacturer with their label slapped on it (server did not know)

So after reading Connie C’s review about this place I definitely wanted to check it out.
The sweetie and I ventured over here to find this small frozen treat shop next to a video game store and thai restaurant. The store layout is fun and cute. They have outdoor seating and a funny bamboo table with seats inside.
All the flavors looked great and I really couldn’t choose. The worker was really nice and offered as many samples as I wanted. After much debate I decided on Lychee Coconut and Blackberry ice creams. The sweetie chose Mango Mango and we were set… until the worker told us that on Monday and Tuesday it’s buy 2 scoops get the 3^rd free! Awesome.
For our 3 scoops, 2 being mine, it only cost us about $ 3.50, what a deal. The ice cream itself is good, has fruit chunks in it but isn’t as creamy as other places. Still this is definitely a breath of fresh air in comparison to the many froyo and other ice cream establishments out there. Support local flavor!
I’ll be back next week to try the Avocado and Strawberry Mango!

After some ramen at Santouka, we managed to make some more room in our already full bellies for some ice cream from this newly opened ice cream shop.
Heavenly specializes in tropical ice cream flavors — everything from lychee, ube, red bean, avocado, and even durian (pee-​ewe!) — but they also offer your typical flavors, and all the ice cream is made in house. They make 80 flavors which they rotate on a regular basis, but they only have about 28 of them available at a time. The sweet girl working there indulged our requests to sample over 10 flavors before making our final choices…
Mine: pina-​colada & strawberry-​mango
His: blackberry & mint chip
The ice cream was so creamy, it lived up to its name. Low fat it is not. I could only have about five bites before feeling my hips expand an inch on both sides. Oh, but it was totally worth it!
They also offer Filipino young coconut desserts: fruit salad, halo-​halo and buko pandan. And crepes will be offered soon.
Ben, the owner, is very generous and it’s evident that he takes a lot of pride in his ice cream. With all the unique flavors they offer, we’ll definitely be back. Plus, it’s so much closer than Marco Polo in SF.
Tip: It was a little tricky finding the place, since they only have a temporary banner up and is located in a strip mall. The shop faces Saratoga Ave not Prospect, and is next to Game Stop. Cash only!

Yay! A new family-​owned ice cream shop. They just opened up in the old location of Marble Slab (near GameStop and Amarin Restaurant). I’m really glad that this shop opened because they serve tropical ice cream flavors that you can’t find elsewhere.
If you like tropical fruits, you’ll love this place. Some of the flavors that they have include pandan with coconut, mango, durian, and piña colada! My favorite so far is pandan with coconut – it’s creamy, rich, and it has plenty of coconut chunks. YUM
