Creative Culture Dance Academy specializes in teaching dance to students of all ages. CCDA also coaches and trains a competition team that competes at various different dance competitions in their area.

History

Established in 2013.

Creative Culture Dance Academy was established by 2 young men: Rome Slater and Nigel Shum. Both Rome and Nigel have a combined 20+ years of dance and technique training.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Nigel is has been dancing for 13 years and is currently the Co-​Owner of Creative Culture Dance Academy with Rome Slater. He recently graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Communications Studies. He has also won some numerous dance awards including Mr. Dance at the KAR Regional dance competition in 2012.

He has training in various styles including: Tap, Hip-​Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet and Jazz. He began his teaching career at the age of 16 by teaching a Beginner Hip Hop 1 class to children ages 8 – 12. He later found his love for tap dance which lead him into teaching some intermediate and advanced tap classes.

He got his first crack at choreography when he turned 18 when he helped choreograph his senior year tap solo. The very next year he choreographed 2 routines, a tap solo and a tap duet. The tap solo/​duet placed in the top overalls at various competitions in the bay area. The tap duet also was awarded the Best Overall Duet at the KAR Nationals in Las Ve
