Cornerstone Property Management

We’ve worked with Cornerstone Property Management for years. Brad is a consummate professional and great person. Angelica who works with De Anza Appliance’s office pays key attention to detail and makes sure to get model # and serial # for any appliances they need serviced. Their thoroughness in work orders and quick communication in estimate approvals makes our job working with tenants easy and keeps appliance downtime to a minimum.

I am living in my third Cornerstone rental covering about seven years of time altogether. I chose to rent from them again recently. In fact, I was thrilled the house I wanted to rent was one of theirs.
I do agree that you usually have to follow up with them on requests but I have always found them to be courteous and wonderful people who have helped me and my growing family time and time again. I am so appreciative of how they are looking out for us! :)

Your agent Tanya Roman showed up late to a 5pm open house without a key and was very unprofessional! What a waste of time!

As a renter I have had a wonderful experience with Cornerstone. They were cordial and always responded to any request or repair. When I moved after a few years to a new place they were more than fair with the walk through and the refund of my deposit, a practice you don’t find very often in the rental business. I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

As renters, we have had an outstanding experience with Cornerstone Property Management. Brad was very responsive from the time of receiving our application until receiving the notice that the owner would not be renewing the lease. Any maintenance issues were quickly resolved and followed up by Brad to ensure we were satisfied with the work and/​or repair. Additionally, upon receiving the notice from the owner that the lease would not be renewed, Brad notified us immediately so we had enough time to find another place.
The Cornerstone Property Management website is well designed and makes submitting a maintenance request and paying rent a breeze.

Things were going well until one day; my husband and I were at work and the house we were renting was robbed. Management took days to come out and assess the damage. Then, they tried to say we were responsible for replacing the sliding glass door that had been shattered, even though we had a police report. I refused to pay and we moved out. I would not do business with them again. They do not have any compassion for people. All they care about is getting your money!

Nearly four years ago, I became a reluctant landlord when I moved out of my home to live with my fiancé (now husband) and had to put my little townhouse up for rent. I REALLY dreaded the thought of managing a rental on my own, so a colleague of hubby’s recommended Cornerstone. What a godsend! Their fees are very reasonable; their managers are responsive, professional, and personable; all documentation is furnished promptly and completely — all around, dealing with them has been nothing short of wonderful and worry-​free. In addition to doing their job really well, they are just all-​around super nice people — I’ve been coping with some major health problems, so the last thing on earth I need is added stress :(. Brad is aware of my situation — he has been extra helpful in making sure that some recent HOA issues and home repairs were easily handled, with no undue hassle on my part, and is always quick to ask how I’m doing, how things are going with my treatment, etc. It’s great to be able to support a small, family-​owned business whose members truly treat their clients like family. I recommend them wholeheartedly!

(Please keep in mind I work in property management for a living, so I know the when, how, why, and now!)
We have been a tenant for approximately a year and a couple months and we are happy! Brad and his office are really nice and have handled emergencies and low priority items professionally (there has been one emergency!) Leasing process was easy, walkthrough was easy (even though my husband did it on his own :/​… Oh men lol), renewal was easy and communicated, and we even had to remove a roommate and dog with ease.
We love our home!

We received a short notice and had to find a place ASAP. I came accross Cornerstone and gave them a call. They were very professional. They were able to find a decent rental within our budget. The rental process was a positive experince. These guys know what they are doing. So far so good!!! I have recommended them to a few friends and have had nothing but good feedback.

Lease with Caution from Cornerstone Property Management, the management there is very poor, Had rented a single family home for 1 yr and nine months with a large deposit. There was an issue with a prior water leak in the kitchen which caused the management company to demo the floor and counter top in the kitchen the process took over a month to complete and had no kitchen the entire process, when calling to find out about the work they acted surprised that we are calling and had no clue what was occurring on the premises. Brad seemed to have no concern about this and promised 2 week process and the kitchen would be complete, no one could give a direct answer regarding the issue always saying they would get back with us. The quality of repair was not impressive they glued the sink down in the kitchen and replaced the dishwasher incorrect, by the way the dishwasher was the culprit causing the damage to sub floor causing mold, having stapled plastic to both entries of the kitchen the worker left remains of staples and tape to the walls and ceiling removing layers of paint that needed to be repaired, yes of course I took pictures! Move-​in and Move-​out Oh, the best part of this — they charged us to repaint the area. My refund of my deposit did reflect the touch up paint. This was the only area that was a problem.
Several times, we needed to have things repaired. After a while — we didn’t request repairs to be made. It was better to live with the issue then the anger when they didn’t reply to the request on line.
So we gave a written notice and moved out several months later and waiting for our refund of deposit, here is where there true color come out, Rafaela did the final walk through she is a real piece of work, her customer service qualities lack compassion and dignity and respect, talking down to you like you are nothing, She thinks she is a queen but is truly a drone.
I want to say this — we took the time to read some of the reviews on Unilocal and I don’t understand why Cornerstone received any positive feedback from anyone (I think Rafaela or Brad posted them/​keep in mind, the people that posted are home owners, I only see one tenant) I am a believer that whatever kind of business you are in, you should have customer service. I paid my rent on time every month and never once late. That should be worth something that we were good tenants and deserve the respect that anyone one with our due diligent should get.
We left the home better than the day we moved in. The home was very clean when we left — being charged for items that were listed was an unethical way of collecting money.

Generally dismissed any but the most important maintenance requests. Even on important problems, I had to threaten to withhold rent to get action.
Illegally withheld part of my deposit after move out. After pointing out the error, they just concocted a different illegal reason to hold on to the money. I threatened to sue, and they just did not care. I had to appeal to the owner to not let this company drag him into court and cost him thousands of dollars.
These guys have no idea what laws apply to them and, so, openly violate them.
Don’t rent a property managed by this company, as they will do the least amount to keep the unit in order and hold on to your deposit illegally.
Don’t use this company to manage your property, as they won’t maintain it and will happily spend your time and money to fruitlessly defend themselves.

As a prospective tenant, I found their customer service terrible. I would hate to imagine how they are to the landlords and actual tenants. I called to view a property and was told there would be an open house. I arrived and no one was there. I called the office back and was told the open house only lasted for 15 minutes. Who does that? I left work early, drove 1 hour to get there, and was furious!
Someone called me back a week later saying they already had an application pending, but they offered to call me if that application was not approved. I told them, NO THANK YOU. I don’t care how nice a property is, I make sure my exorbitant rent cost goes where it is deserved.
One star for the nice guy who called me back, but zero stars for the rude woman and rude receptionist.

Brad and Brian are genuine guys to work with. We leased a place last year from their office and got to know the both of them briefly and would definitely rent again from them. Pretty straight forward guys.

Hard to get ahold of. When you do they are rude. Talk down on you when you are their customer. Never again.

Finding a property manager was rather challenging. First and foremost, everyone I contacted except Cornerstone was too busy and hard to get a hold of. Second, I didn’t have much time. Of the ½ dozen property managers I interviewed Cornerstone was the most responsive and best fit.
I didn’t have the bandwidth to manage the property myself and Cornerstone made my life easy. I worked directly with Brad and Rafaela who handled everything from interviewing tenants to painting the place. They were very thorough with the application process and were able to secure market rate. Brad was able to advise on many matters pertaining to property related questions. There were also additional service add-​ons (these were optional) that were available to reduce the risk of the owner if anything were to happen, which I found useful.
When problems arose, as expected with property, Brad has with a crew of handymen who end up fixing things for cheaper than one would probably pay if they hired their own contractor. On the downside, there are only a couple of handymen that he works with full-​time so if they are attending to emergencies, they generally can’t be at two places at once. However, when there was an emergency with the toilet they were there right away.
I found the monthly reporting to be very standard and easy to read. The funds are deposited directly into my bank account and are always arrive early. I’ve been overall very grateful to have Brad on my team. It has been a good experience and it has worked well for me.

Tried to rent a house through these people, however, when I first called, all public mailboxes were full. I finally got through to the voicemail of the person whose name was on the listing (Brian). Left a message, never heard back. Called again and was told I would receive a call back with possible times to see the property, never heard back. We were looking to make a relationship with a company that could help us, but I guess this just isn’t the one.

I have worked with Brian for several years and he is a person of high integrity. So, if you are looking to sell your house or need a great property manager I suggest you call Brian. He is very personable, easy to work with and is very dedicated to providing excellent service.
