Love the new location — it’s so bright inside and makes shopping a pleasure! As usual, they also have a great selection of vintage and new clothing. The vintage is really well-​selected and can be found at great prices — I scored a classic jean jacket that I’m sure to wear all the time for under $ 20! Woo!

Everything in this store is extremely unique & great quality! I do wish they were a bit cheaper but when I compare the original prices they’re pretty good considering quality wise. I would recommend to anyone trying to find original clothing.

Love it here! I was worried there would be no parking since it’s in downtown SJ, but there is a parking lot that’s a 30 second walk from the front door and it was pretty empty the two times that I’ve been so far. Definitely no trouble parking. I’ve gone around 6:30 pm on a Saturday and around 12:30 pm on a Sunday. Parking was a breeze! I believe all the other reviews about a horrible parking situation were for the previous location.
Customer service is good — they’re so nice. They didn’t make it seem like a hassle when I asked for a fitting room twice within 10 minutes, they were so kind about it. They also occasionally asked me if I was finding everything okay. :) Very good service!
Things here are pricy for a thrift shop, but to me, that’s the price you pay for a «higher end» thrift shop, as opposed to stores like Goodwill. I found a $ 110 American Apparel cardigan for $ 26! $ 26 probably seems like a lot for a used clothing item, but for something that was originally $ 110, that’s a steal.
I guess minus one star because I really, truly do wish some of their stuff was cheaper, but other than that, no complaints. I recommend coming here for all your thrift shopping needs! And don’t forget to check out the upstairs for men’s flannels and graphic tees. The whole atmosphere of this place is very cute. Very Urban Outfitters-​esque as some other reviewers have said.

Not your normal thrift store! I love the setup the shelves and the display cases. They have unique items however I bit too pricy. If your looking for treasures you might find it here but at high cost

LOVE THIS PLACE! If you are in the SJ area, it’s a must for you to stop by here. My boyfriend wanted to pick up car parts out in San Jose, so I suggested to make a stop here.
I didn’t know they relocated from a couple years back. I wasn’t too sure if it was the same spot because last time I remembered, the walls were dark and there was much more walking space. But, this new location is very nice. Downstairs is womens and upstairs is men’s stuff.
They have great finds for very reasonable prices. I picked up a pair of Union Jack Doc Martens here for $ 50, and they aren’t even broken in yet. They have a small wall full of vintage Dooney purses! (yaaasssss) I found a couple well known brands such as Jeffrey Campbell, American Apparel, Diamond Supply, etc. Such a change from what I’m used to in the city (Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads, Wasteland).

I fell in love with this store last year and decided to come back and give it some more lovin’! I saw on Unilocal that they moved to a new location and that it now has 2 floors (score!).
It took me awhile till I found the entrance which is behind a metal gate. I was warmly greeted as soon as I entered and an employee asked to hold my bag and textbooks for me which was really nice. Thanks boo!
Whoever did the layout and interior design for the store is fa-​reaking awesome. I definitely felt the urban outfitters-​hipster-​hippie kind of vibe. Btw, the first floor is women’s and the second floor is men’s.
All throughout the store they have plants such as hanging ones and succulents (any store that has a cactus gets an A+++ by me aka a major cactus enthusiast).
It’s very spacious and easy to move around. They also sell handmade dream catchers which is pretty unique. They have rings, bracelet cuffs, earrings, and glasses near the register. They have their more pricier jewelry in a glass display.
I feel like they had more variety in their bag selection at their old location. On the plus side, the new location feels a lot more open and airy with the windows and white walls.
If you want to try on shoes there’s a comfy couch you can sit on that’s in front of the fitting rooms. I have to say the fitting rooms were on point!!! I thought it was cute how they had rugs in each room.
Overall I give it a 4 stars, I had a good visit and I’ll be coming back sometime this year.
The employees were all friendly and super fashionable. The cleanliness and vibe of the store was great. The only thing were that they had quite a limited selection of women’s clothes in the more bigger sizes. It’s not a bad thing it’s just I won’t be able to purchase any clothes from you guys unfortunately. However the shoes and jewelry I can! (-:
P. S. It’s kind of funny how you become really aware of your clothes browsing when the employees fix the hangers as soon as you’re done looking at an aisle. Sorry employees! I’ll try being more neat in future visits lol

This is the place to go if you’re looking for fairly priced vintage in great shape! This shop truly has something for everyone, with higher-​end labels in front (think Louboutins and YSL), a good mix of clothing organized by color, shoes organized by size (found some Manolo Blahniks and Ferragamo flats!), and a small but impressive selection of 1980’s-1990’s (I think) handbags, mostly Dooney & Bourke and a couple of old-​school Coach leather goods (the only Coach bags worth getting, in my humble opinion). They also sell their own in-​store label apparel as well as Floss Gloss polish up at the counter.
The fun, friendly, helpful staff there makes it all the more dangerous on my wallet! Like their customers, they are also clothes and accessories connoisseurs, lovers of vintage, and will happily talk about any of these subjects while not ever pushing purchases on you.
For those of you who may rely on Waze to get here, get the store address from Unilocal first and enter that into your app. The default Waze address for the store is the one on The Alameda, which is incorrect.

I’ve been to the old location several times and I loved it but the new building is so much better! It looks much cleaner and brighter. It’s also 2 stories, men’s upstairs.
The employees are super nice and welcoming. The women that helped me were very informative and I had almost all the employees say hi to me and my boyfriend while we were looking around the store.
I always find awesome pieces and I love their unique selection of jewelry! They also have handmade dream catchers now.
It was my first time selling clothing to them. I brought in 2 large bags of clothing and they took quite a bit! I’d say about half the items I had and I got $ 56 cash from them (what I paid for just one of the pieces retail, but it’s better than nothing. That’s what I get for being an impulse buyer).
Most of the items they chose were trendy, designer or with tags attached such as Bebe, American Apparel, Brandy Melville, Topshop, and some vintage high waisted shorts.

Found a really cute sweater and handbag here the other day; overall I love the styles in B&B. It’s not the cheapest clothing store around so keep that in mind, however the quality of the materials and stitching is really not bad for a thrift shop.
Customer service is excellent by the way. They’re definitely not incompetent here. Any questions I had were answered with kind enthusiasm which I do appreciate. I’m going to remember this store for when I need to do shopping for holidays/​birthdays since there are some pretty unique products here and it’s already given me some gift ideas.

Thanks to my childhood best friend for recommending me to come here to find a bomber jacket and some other fashionable clothing that I’ve looking for. I am still amused and fond with a place like this. Also big thanks to Alex for being awesome and helping me out along with answering all the questions I’ve asked her.
Black & Brown sells used, new, and vintage items here. I was super pleased with how the store is step up and I’m super excited to bring some clothes back next week to sell. From what my friend was telling me this place is way better than Crossroads because they’re more reasonable.

I mean I’ve never found anything for myself to get… lol either they were asking too much money or just wasn’t my cup of tea. But I keep going cause it is a cool chill place. The new lotion is kinda suckie… and the clothing seem even more funkier but I’m sure I’ll come back. I just can’t say no…

Mostly lightly used, sometimes there’s good gems but then they ask too $$$ in my eyes. But i have seen some killer stuff there! YSL, LV, Gucci, Fry boots, so you can get your hands on some good stuff. just cross your fingers it’s in your size ;)

I agree with a lot of the other Unilocalers on here that the place has an Urban Outfitters vibe and is on the pricey side.
I went in to sell some clothes after some early Spring cleaning. I haven’t sold before so I didn’t know what to expect. Black and Brown is super picky with what they buy from customers; which is not a bad thing. They are looking for trendy, wear-​now pieces. The store sells both new and used clothing. I also noticed they sell a lot of used/​vintage designer items; clothes, shoes & bags. The prices are up there considering it’s a thrift store. I felt that a lot of the pieces I found could be found new, on sale, at department stores.
I have never been to the old location but this new location was nice. It was spacious and bright with all the windows. Parking was easy. There is a lot to park for Black and Brown customers. Customer service was alright, but still better than what I expect from any other thrift store.
Now that I have an idea of what the store is and isn’t looking for, I may stop by in the future when I decide to clean out my closet!

This place is amazing. The buyers do an excellent job of knowing trends and what people want. Every time I come into this place, I am able to find something… every time.
The staff is super amazing and friendly.
This is the 3^rd location and by far the best. It is unique just like this business. They have an awesome vibe and is helping make SJ have an identity.

I have purchased & sold items here with little hassle and short wait times for selling. They know exactly what they want to buy & stick to their guns.

The setup is pretty cool.
I checked out this place, and think that the pricing is on the high side for thrift shops, but I do see that they do have some branded items in stock.
I brought some clothes here to sell, but were told to come back in summer with the clothes because they buy in-​season clothing, which makes sense, since they would have to pay for extra logistics.
Nice concept, and I enjoy their Instagram feed. :)

Since moving down the Alameda from Black and Brown a little over a year and a half ago, I have had several occasions to pass by the shop but have only gone in a handful of times. I had always heard from others that it seemed like a place I would enjoy, but was never in the area until after the move.
I really appreciate that they keep their Instagram updated with new things pretty constantly, as a photo they posted a looong while ago was actually what brought me into the store for the first time. My husband also followed their IG and said that if he could have one thing for his birthday that year, it would be the Led Zepplin-​patched vintage denim jacket they just posted a picture of. I went in, snagged it off a rack of items near the register that was with other new things they just posted as well, and paid.
I remember the gentleman at the register being super polite and pretty friendly, and he told me that if it needed to be returned, their process was for me to sell it back to them. I completely understood why; you kind of have to take chances when you shop thrift, especially at places like B&B or Crossroads. Luckily, there were no issues and he still really likes the jacket.
I enjoy seeing the things they post but haven’t purchased anything since. I seem to always miss their big sales (which is obviously completely my fault), but once I catch one I could see myself dropping a pretty penny on some new duds.

I’m a fan of thrift stores now, but when I was younger, I was still learning what it meant to be hip and to thrift. Black and Brown was the first I had stumbled upon and I loved that it was a consignment store that didn’t make you feel like you were at a consignment store. They take things in good condition and many times, there are actually still tags from probably never before worn clothes. Walking into here and discovering this store is a super vintage find on its own. This place is also really active on their instagram and they post up their favorite finds, complete with sizes and prices, and modeled by their wonderful employees and you can comment on it to hold. Another thing I am a fan of is their annual $ 1-​$ 5 sale on black friday. They have djs and the first 20 (??? i think it was 20) people get a random coupon of a certain percentage or certain dollar amount. I’ve attended it for 3 years and make it crucial to be in the first 10. Luckily I’ve happen to get the $ 20 off coupon which goes a long way for a $ 1-​$ 5 sale! During that sale, they basically lay out piles and tables signed with the dollar amount and they have some pretty cool finds if you’re lucky yo be first and have a fast eye to skip the junk and grab the good stuff first. During this sale you should bring cash because they have a line for cards and a separate line for cash and the cash line is like a half hour difference shorter.
Anyway, on a normal black and brown day, you can always find a good oversized flannel in the mens section or some vintage jewelry. I’ve scored $ 15 American Apparel riding pants, $ 10 American Apparel Viscose Cardigan, and awesome vintage tarnished gold triangle statement necklace just to name a few. Prices here are generally a little pricier than other stores, but that’s because they usually take in brand names and really good condition.
I’ve made it a habit to come here every holiday season, go straight to the mens sweaters, and grab an oversized $ 7 sweater to make into an ugly christmas sweater. They also have premade ugly christmas sweaters for about $ 30 for those who don’t have the time or creativity to do it themselves.

Decided to check this place out since it was recommended to me. I don’t usually go to thrift shops but this place received good ratings.
I walked in and was greeted by a friendly employee. She asked for my bag and I think it’s so I don’t put stuff in it.
The men’s section was on the left side of the store so I proceeded to go over there to check out the clothes. What bothered me was that it was organized by color and not by size…
Another thing that bothered me was the price. I was expecting the clothes to be cheaper. Yes, they were good quality, but I might as well go to a retail store to purchase something that’s been unworn for the same amount.

Definitely one of the best «thrift» shops in the area. With a myriad of designer labels, vintage pieces, and unique items that make you stop and wonder, there’s something here for everyone. Prices aren’t the cheapest for used clothing, but most of the stuff here is actually really nice and worth the money.
They are picky about what they buy, so don’t expect to sell everything you dig out from the back of your closet.
