All Bay Hardwood Floors

Did my floors like 5 years ago and they still look GREAT! I need some work on my kitchen floors that I’m removing ugly vinyl that was intalled before we got the house. 5stars all day. Thanks Tu.

In A Nutshell:
–One of our home improvement projects was to replace the carpet in all the bedrooms, so we first thought we needed to purchase engineered hardwood floors. We discovered that our house actually has original pinewood (softwood) flooring just beneath the carpet in the bedrooms.
–We decided to keep the original pinewood flooring so it matches the rest of the original hardwood throughout the house (a historic Craftsman home). That’s when we made a few phone calls and made an appointment with All Bay Hardwood Floors.
–The owner, Tu showed up exactly on time. Right to the minute. As soon as I opened the door he was already putting on his shoe covers (I told him that’s a great sign for a professional — the little details).
–He came inside took a look at the floor under the carpet and immediately said the job will take 2 – 3 days max with a very, very competitive price.
–A week later he again shows up on time this time w/​his crew and wastes no time by getting right to work. Love that.
–During the process we discovered that the bedroom closet didn’t have original pinewood b/​c it was an add-​on extension by the previous owners. No problem, we decided to add cedar wood (cedar if you don’t know, is a great wood to use in the closet due to the natural anti-​pest properties it contains as well as the beautiful color and smell). The added cost was very minimal.
–His crew was very efficient, wasted little time and worked hard to make sure the quality was up to my standard.
–The project took exactly 3 days and we’re happy with the floor.
Overall, we’ll be hiring Tu again for the next project. Finding a good, honest contractor is a tough task, but I hope this review helps you relieve some of that headache.

As many reviewers have pointed out, All Bay Hardwood Floors was a great company to work with. Their quote was cheapest of all the quotes, and their work was the best. We had a weird tile borders on our wood floor that we wanted to have removed and replaced when we were re-​sanding our floor. All the other companies that we contacted either refused to do the work, saying it was very difficult, or said it would cost a lot more to do this as it was very time consuming. Tu, the owner came to look at the floor and when I gave him all my wish list, he looked at it and said «no problem» and gave me the quote right there on the spot. It was so easy that I almost hesitated going with him, thinking it can’t be this easy when other companies gave me such a hard time.
Tu kept to the original time frame he quoted, and when there was a minor problem afterwards, he sent his people out to fix it, even though it was over a month after we had the work finished. Tu’s people were also very accommodating to the other workers in the house when one day, the workers schedule coincided. I just wish all the contractors were this easy to work with. Best price, highest quality and great customer service. If we need to have more work done in the future, he is going to be the first person I’m going to call. Really great experience. 5 start Unilocal review is justified. I would give him 10 if possible!

I had a difficult ¾″ hardwood flooring that includes a piano-​like circular stairs. With standard ready-​made hardwood, this have looked jagged as those pieces come bull-​nosed in only one dimension, but with the stairs being circular, bull-​nosing needed to be done in two dimensions.
All Bay Hardwood Floors custom made each step of the stairs from raw Brazilian Cherry wood, bull-​nosed each piece in two dimensions, and matched them with the rest of the ready-​made hardwood in the house. The owner, Tu Dang, is nothing less than a Master and an Artist, and the many of his team are also likewise masters. Tu sculpted each step of the stairs individually and produced a master piece stairs (see photo).
In addition, Tu beat all the bids from about ½ dozen bidders, and to top-​it-​off, Tu agreed to come back and fix some knit-​picky imperfections twice, and once was squarely not his fault as it was the fault of my five-​year-​old son who stepped on the stained wood before it dried out.
After seeing the finished product, my neighbor also contracted with All Bay Hardwood Floors, so if you have a hardwood job, don’t look anywhere and go with All Bay Hardwood Floors.

Tu and his crew did a great job on our house. We had them refinish 250 sq ft. of existing oak flooring, and lay new hickory flooring on 1700 additional sq ft. All the workers worked methodically and were very thorough; they often worked into early evening. Tu himself laid down a medallion and installed a highlight surround that looks great. There were a few minor glitches, but they were fixed to our satisfaction. Tu was very easy to work with; we had some changes we wanted and they were all done without any nickel or dime add-​ons. Not all his crew speaks English but that wasn’t much of a problem as there was usually one of the crew who did.

The first thing my friends and family notice when entering our home in San Jose are our stunning floors. We are on a tight budget so I diligently researched and previewed several floor companies. Clearly All Bay Hardware was the least expensive and most professional in their presentation. I wanted a unique grey finish and the owner provided a sample on our floors, not on a sample board. On the day of the job 10 workers entered our house. The 5 rooms with closets were completed right on time. We are ecstatic with the quality of the work, the professionalism, and the price.

This review is more than a year overdue. I wanted to wait and see if his work would hold up. This is my first house, and I didn’t know any better! I initially hired an unlicensed (but SLIGHTLY cheaper) handyman to do the job, based on a coworkers recommendation. It was a nightmare! I had to have him come twice during the next few months to fix the bubbling issue.
So…I decided to check out Unilocal and called several (licensed) companies the third time it happened. Tu was the 4^th one on my list, and he gave me a very competitive price. More importantly, he diagnosed the issue and suggested several solutions. He also gave a 3 year warranty for the job.
I also find him to be trustworthy. I requested that he glue the floor, in addition to sealing the concrete. He said it was an unnecessary expense on my part. I still had him do for my own peace of mind.
I am definitely recommending him to friends and family in the Bay! I’m contacting him soon to replace our bedroom carpets with wood.

I’m really disappointed with this company. I tried calling, voicemail full. Tried sending them a message through Unilocal,no response. Tried calling again a few days later, voicemail still full. Tried texting, no response. I know that it is the busy season right now, but not returning a phone call to a potential customer is bad business. At least let people know that you are busy! Personally, I’d rather know that a company is completely booked (which makes me think they might be worth the wait) than be forced to assume that they just don’t care about customers.
I can’t say how good their work is, because I can’t even get them on the phone.

I got my hardwood floor fixed yesterday and I can’t wait to rave about their work and work ethics. Others advised me to remove the entire floor but Tony said that he can help me to fix it and he kept his promise. They spent 8 hours fixing my floor. They were careful with my hardwood floor and patient throughout the whole process. It took them 1 ½ hour to scrape of the glue and wood residue alone. The owner, Tony, was there to finish the job! You don’t normally see the owner to do this small job, but he did. Plus, their price is VERY reasonable. Thank you Tony and your team for the great result and we can’t thank you enough. Kudos to you guys!

Tony and his crew (Tim’s crew) did a great job on the installation of my floors. I wasn’t too thrilled with the flooring that I bought from Lumber Liquidators because many of the boxes were damaged. However, Tim found a way to be resourceful and salvage a majority of the flooring for the stairwell. Tim did such a great job on the stairs — they look amazing! The guys paid a lot attention to the details (way more than I did!). The only reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars is because they couldn’t carry the remaining debris from my garage right away because their van was broked for a few days. Otherwise, they did quality work at an afforable price and I would recommend them!

Tu and his team (Dang and Pu) did a fantastic job on our floors. Fast, efficient, professional!
Our kitchen, living room and hallways were showing many dark areas of 8 years of consistent wear. Day one was fast and furious. Dang and Pu, taped all cabinets to prevent any dust from getting in. Not sure this was necessary as the dustless system they used did a great job of moving any airborn dust outside. Day 2 was detailed touch up and first coat oil. This is where Tu did an unbelievable job of matching to the other rooms and closets. We can not even tell difference between the colors, which I would have thought there may have been a subtle difference.
Day 3 final sanding and last coat. Could not be happier!
Price was the lowest cost of 3 bids. But I did not lower my expectations. These guys, exceeded all of mine. We were able to live in the house while this tooks place, but using our whole house fan. The floors were dried in 4 – 5 hours and Tu made sure to come by first thing in the morning to allow us to get in by dinner time. While there was still some odor, we were able to use our kitchen and bedrooms.

Next day, no call no show. I even called him at 1115am and he was on the other line and didn’t call back as of an hour later.

This is the second time I have had Tu and team work on my hardwood floors and it was another wonderful experience. The job I had was to tie together a room that had older hardwood already in it (redone by Tu 2yrs ago) with a new room that I had removed the flooring from. Tu and team did a great job interlacing the new and old flooring and working to ensure the colors match as closely as possible (near perfect match).
Additionally, they were able to work with my schedule as I had to reschedule once.
Working with Tu has been a great experience. I wish more vendors were as easy to work with.

This is a late posting better late than never. All Bay (Tu) came over and gave us a quote and I told him we wouldn’t be doing it for a few months, he said that’s fine.
In November 2012, we had our entry hall, hallway, kitchen/​family room refinished.
They were very prompt, professional and did a great job. With the new equipment the dust residue has improved tremendously. However, the smell is very potent, he recommended we turn on our heater to help with the drying process. We definitely will call them again for a small installation in our last bedroom with carpeting. Also, will have our living/​dining room refinished. Hardwood floors has helped our family who had allergies, no dust in carpets and etc. Hope this helps.

I Normally never take the time to write a review. But for Tu (Tony) and his crew I had to take the time to write due to their great service and professionalism. Tu came twice to our place to answer all of our questions and assess the job. Tu and his crew have delivered everything they promised and more. Their work is amazing and Tu’s pricing is very competitive (got 8 different quotes, he came the lowest with amazing final results)
Not to mention his entire crew is phenomenon especially Tim and Pha, these guys went above and beyond to accommodate us

Tu recently helped us repair and refinish about 650 sqft of 50-​year-​old oak hardwood flooring. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end.
Tu came over and used his laser measuring device to accurately size the space. His quote was extremely fair given the quality that I was expecting.
When we removed the carpet, we found some damaged boards. He offered to replace them for a slight up-​charge. It took one guy two hours to replace the boards — it was a steal.
But he really saved my butt when one of his guys discovered termite damage on the subfloor. Because the machine is so heavy, we had to repair the subfloor before they could refinish the floors, but in order to make the repair we had to remove a huge square block of the floor. It took one person the whole day to do – my contractor said another company would have charged $ 800 to do it — but Tu did it for a fraction of that price.
At the end of the day I have beautiful floors and the home is safer, thanks to Tu.

All Bay did a great job installing wood floors to the bedrooms in our house. They did a good good job matching the existing hardwood floors. The workmanship and finish is excellent quality and at a reasonable price. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire these guys again. They have earned and deserve the 5 stars!

This is the second time that we have used All Bay Hardwood Flooring company and it deserves a second review.
Tu (Tony) is a very professional and talented man. His ultimate goal is to please his customers whatever effort is needed. I say that because we had some problems with our flooring due to us getting a new refrigerator. Tu wouldn’t stop until the finish met his high standards.
He is easy to talk to and remembers everything! He will give you a quote and complete the project on time.
I would recommend him to anyone with hardwood floors that need refinishing or any other hardwood projects (flooring, stairs, railing refinishing, etc.)

Tony and his guys at All Bay Hardwood did a super job on our hardwood flooring.
We own a townhouse and decided to replace our 6-​year old carpet with brand new hardwood floors. After shopping around, we went with Brazilian Cherry hardwood from Lumber Liquidators and contracted Tony for the install.
We researched several contractors throughout the South Bay, including Lowes, Home Depot, etc. but we picked Tony because he offered a competitive price, and we trusted his work based on several referrals.
Estimate —
Tony came by and gave us a free estimate. Unlike other contractors who gave us a laundry list of charges, Tony’s estimate is really simple, just the price per square feet.
Price —
Their price is really competitive.
Hardwood Delivery —
They went to Lumber Liquidators and delivered the hardwood to our house (all 3000 pounds of solid Brazilian Cherry!). Lumber Liquidators would have charged us for the delivery.
Carpet Removal —
They took care of removing and disposing all of the old carpet.
Baseboards —
They took off ALL the baseboards (not for the feint of heart) and reinstalled them like new. Another contractor actually told us we had to buy new baseboards.
Moving Furniture —
Tony and his guys helped move all our furniture around during the install. Yet another contractor told us we had to hire a separate moving company.
Cleanup —
Even though the install spanned several days, they always cleaned up at the end of each day so that our home was still livable :) And of course they did a complete cleanup after the job was done.
High Quality Install —
Tony and his guys did a professional, high quality install. We are kind of picky customers, but we are really happy with the result. Simply beautiful floors.
Great Customer Care —
Tony listened to our wishes when picking which boards to use. They did a good job choosing the right color/​pattern.
Attention to Detail —
For the most part, hardwood flooring is just a bunch of boards. However, where the hardwood meets the baseboards, stairs, tile, etc is where the details are at. Tony
did a great job taking care of these details as well.
Summary —
Based on the great install and all the things Tony and his team took care of, we are giving them a 5-​star review. Highly recommended.

Occasion: Wanted to get my floors buff and re-​coated because my floors had a lot of surface scratches due to having moving many stuff around and around. After checking around I found out All Bay Hardwood Floors. I visited their website and holy cow! Their work looks amazing! From there on out I called Tu and set up an appointment and knew this was the place that i been looking for!
Customer Service: Excellent, gave Tu Dang a call and was giving a appointment for a free estimate. He was very professional about the job and gave me more knowledge on hardwood floors! I can tell that he has tons of experience under his hands.
Work Quality: Once again excellent! I had my floors buff and re-​coated with urethane. I never knew that my floors could look this good again after several years of damage.
Price: After calling around several places in the Bay Area, I decided to go with All Bay Hardwood Floors because of the price and quality work. At the end I was so impress with his work that I gave him some tip, because I felt like his work was affordable and top notch!
