Worn Out West 2nd Generation

If you are even remotely interested in uniforms, leather, rare/​unusual pieces, gear, costumes, boots, jockstraps, kink, etc… it warrants a visit.
I’ve always found unusual, one-​of-​a-​kind pieces here. Whether it be clothes, gear, or even spiked gauntlets.
Everyone is very friendly. Sometimes, surprisingly and delightfully so.
Some of the pieces I’ve found have a fantastic history. They also stock quality. You won’t find something that falls apart after one or two wears. I love the leather top coat I found. It’s truly my size, and I’m a hard one to fit. And it’s from Germany.
Also, there’s someone in the back who does alterations. What!!! Custom leather alterations and design?!
Tim kindly re-​gutted, re-​strapped and re-​conditioned my gauntlets while I waited. All while having a lovely conversation. Shirtless. And no, it wasn’t expensive for what he does, either. Obviously deserved a tip.
I think when I have more money to blow, I’ll ask him to create something for me. I’d rather him have my money than a factory in the middle of nowhere.
I know this is kind of catty, but when I walk around Dore and Folsom, I completely ignore someone in a generic $ 25 harness, especially if it doesn’t fit them. Because they are clearly not invested in being there… it’s tacky and wannabe, and worthy of very little merit.
Man up! Woman up! Trans up! Queer up! Kink up! Otherwise, get out of our spaces. Stop taking up our valuable real-​estate. Get your french-​fries and selfies elsewhere. These events are not for tourists. We’ve even made it easy –there’s a mall, a Gap, and Old Navy just a few blocks away.

heard good things about this place, as a great location to score a decent used leather jacket. While they had a varied selection, it tends to run a little more towards a fetishist sensibility which is great for some, but may be a little limiting for people like myself. Staff was helpful. Prices were ok. I’m sure if you visit this place a couple of times you could find exactly what you are looking for.

I visited Worn out West last year whilst on holiday in San Fran. I picked up some really great secondhand, rare, 80s/​90s lesbian magazines and never managed to find any more of the same titles anywhere online after I returned to London.
A whole year later, whilst researching for an essay about lesbian erotic literature, I contacted the guys at WOW 2^nd generation on the off chance they might still have them at the back of the shop. They did, and were sweet enough to ship a whole pile of them over to me in the UK. Really friendly and helpful!

I brought a lot of items to the old location on Castro Street, (30 – 40 items) and work with the staff there to agree on a fair price for consignment sale. After receiving a couple of checks for sold items I did not hear from them again. I learned a few months later that the business was sold and moved to a new location on Market. I went in and talked to the same staff member who filled out the original items receipt and pricing and he informed me that the old records had not been updated yet and that he would talk to the new owner & manager about my items. I left my number and asked that they contact me so we can figure things out and find out where my items where or if they had sold so I could either collect them and sell them myself or Worn Out West 2 could issue me a check. I did not hear from anyone so I called back in and left 2 more messages for either a Manager or Owner to contact me and still did not get any communication. About 3 weeks went by and I went back in to see if I could talk with the management about my situation. No one in management was available so I talked with another staff member who reviewed my documentation, made copies, took my business card and said he would give this to the manager to call me.‘
It has been another 2 – 3 weeks and I have not heard from anyone so I am writing reviews here and on any other social media site I can find and since they are NOT listed with the Better Business Bureau will look into other professional outlets to assist me.
I have bought items from the old store and I think it is a great business to have for our community. And when you buy another companies inventory you should keep accurate records of what you’re buying and who it belongs to. You should also follow the business practices that your company has set up as well as the laws of the city and state.
I doubt that this review will get a response, (if it does and something is worked out I will write a response) but if at least 1 person sees this review, especially during Folsom Street Weekend and decides not to spend money at this establishment it was worth it.

Great selection of used leather gear. Found some amazing pants at a great price. The worker was really helpful and friendly. All in all great!

Always a fun Castro joint to pop into. There’s always cool stuff to browse and the staff is really knowledgable and friendly. Cooper helped us pick out a new harness for my folsom outfit! He’s the best.

I found this great new hidden shopping gem in the Castro (Market St near Catch restaurant on the lower level). I like the cozy feel of the place. They have reasonably priced leather, boots and new western wear. I stop in every week and have seen the store grow little by little. They also have some rubber and neoprene too. There is a sign saying that rubber wear from Invincible Rubber in London is arriving soon. Can’t wait…
