Beaux

My girlfriend and I came to San Francisco from out of town as two young lesbians looking to have some fun in our first couple of excursions in the gay club scene. We had an awesome time at Beaux as it was a 90’s themed My So Called Night (such a cute name). The music was AMAZING (Destiny’s Child, Outkast, Montell Jourdan, Blur, No Doubt etc.), the best I’ve ever heard in all the (few) clubs we’ve been to. The two for one drinks were awesome since we were on a budget and San Francisco is not cheap.
Also the crowd was really inviting. Being a young lesbian interracial couple going to gay male bars we have been met with rudeness from old gay white dudes but this crowd was really accepting (We always feel kind of like we are intruding in that space which is not our intention but we just want to have fun with our people in our community). The gogo dancers were super nice!(particularly the black guy) and there was a lot of encouragement to be messy and have a good time.
We have regarded this as our best clubbing experience, even though we are fairly new to the scene. If we’re ever back we’ll run here on our first night.

This place has an «L.A.» club/​bar vibe to it. Lots of pretty, shiny things with gogo boys, pretty faces and itty bitty drinks. It’s a good place to hang if you’re going out on the town and bar hopping.

Ok, updating my review. It seems they’ve ironed out some of the kinks, but my review stays at a 3.5.
This bar has great sound and sound mixing, it’s easy to hear people next to you, despite the ambiance being pretty loud. It’s kind of awesome!
Just go. It’s cool.

A fat back man outside is a total racist telling me I need to leave thank god there was a woman there because the black man told me I wasn’t welcome back without knowing I part back black. He should be fired for being a racist. For real!!!

Last night I lost my card in Beaux, I went to the bartender and asked if they had it. He looked next to the register and saw one card and said no we do not. Today I try calling and they just have message saying that if you have a lost iteam you need to go into the bar and ask for it. I did that! They told me that they had to shred all cards because they had too many! It is not their fault I lost my card, but due to their poor costumer service It is likely that they shredded it without even giving me a full 24hours to come claim it.

The gogo dancers is probably the best thing at this venue! Can we talked about the over priced drinks, the cover charge, and another coat charge if you wanna leave your stuff and dance. I don’t mind paying for a really good drink; but when a bartender gives you more water then actual liquor you end up realizing that this is the main reason why you won’t return. Also don’t think they will play a song without a remix of it, or without cutting it half way through. So if you’re looking for a cheap fun night out, not my best recommendation.

I can not rave enough about Beaux, this is one of my favorite places in the Castro to grab a drink, and have a good time! They have the best staff, and make wonderful cocktails. If you go be sure to ask if Matthew Mello is working, he is reigning champion of THE Stoli Key West Cocktail Classic, and have him make you one of his winning cocktails, the Forbidden Fruit. otherwise any of the other amazing bartenders can take just as great care of you, including the gorgeous Sasha, or handsome Sebastian, or the amazing Joshua J. Nineties night on Thursdays always is a good time and draws quite the crowd, or enjoy the hot gogo dancers during Manimal Fridays. Any day of the week a good bet is that there is a good time to be had at Beaux!

Came here a long time ago for a friends birthday party and my partners first time in the Castro and since then she’s been dying to come back and experience more of what the Castro had to offer. The first time i came my experience has just been alright. I was searched upon entering and bartenders weren’t that great but it was probably due to the club being super packed.
Flash forward to saturday night when we came back before 10pm and we got in for free, no search and the bouncer was chill and even cracked some funny jokes. Seeing that we arrived before 10pm the place was more maneuverable once we got our drinks we just jumped on to the dance floor and did our thing before it got too packed. The bartenders were fast, friendly and attentive. The drinks were strong and cheap.
Once the time hit 11pm the place started to get packed but the bartenders still were working quickly and attentively unlike my first experience here. I would recommend this place if you’re bringing lady friends as the go-​go dancers are dancing the night away and bring some dollar bills for them. Come before 9−10pm to get in free and check in through Unilocal you get a discount on a specialty cocktail.

Don’t come here unless you want money taken from you. Came here on st pattys eve, it was a weds night and my friend and I were having our night cap drinks. Got two drinks and tipped. It was 1:45am and instead of giving us a warning, or announcing last call or even letting us finish the barely sipped drinks we paid for, the ‘security’ ripped out the drink from my friends hand, took mine off the ledge and told us to get out. Not even letting us finish, it was 1:46am not even 2. We were booted and I felt robbed. We asked for their names and wanted to even talk to the manager. They didn’t respond. This place was way better when it was trigger, just sayin.

Beaux thinks it’s Studio 54. But it’s the service equivalent of a Colt 45. While the happy hour bartenders are relatively cool, the evening bartenders roll in with the attitude befitting ye olde velvet rope days of yesteryear. Today our conversation was interrupted by the DJ deciding we were going to PARTAY — even though there were six other people. When we asked if they could turn it down, one bartender — who clearly didn’t care that we were regulars and locals — said «This is a nightclub and I’m sorry you don’t like it.» The other bartender apologized, saying he understood Tuesday was not a big club night and no one likes to be sassed. If only Beaux embraced his spirit of customer service we would consider becoming customers again.

Seriously, my favorite place in SF! The bartenders and staff are genuine, fast, and extremely professional. I really feel a connection to the place every time I go. Matthew is the best! He has excellent bartending skills, he loves his regulars, and super funny. I highly recommend Thursday night’s for Carnie Asada’s «my so call night» which has all the 90’s to early 00’s hits which always takes me back. Also Friday night «manimal» which has great current hits, sexy GoGo’s, and all the regular club kids. You will not be disappointed!

Waited in line for 10 minutes for a drink… An INCREDIBLY VISIBLY DRUNK guy elbows in to cut in line. I alert the bartender that 1. That dude just physically cut in line. 2. He’s obviously waaaaay to drunk to be ordering 3 drinks and 3. Come on dude you totally saw him elbow everyone. The rude bartender said ‘we don’t don’t do a number system and your opinion of his intoxication doesn’t matter’. Calling the state. Let’s see how they view selling 3 drinks to a physically forceful intoxicated person. First time at this bar and the last. Hope they shut it down

This is a place to go for some drinks before 8pm place! Unbeknownst to us, they had a 2 for 1 special– so this explains why my tab was hella cheap! Hahaha!!! It wasn’t packed, which I love– If I can sit down at the bar and have a conversation with the bartender, I’m a happy camper! I’m way too old for packed places and people stepping on my kicks…

Great place. Great music. Lots of friendly people. Was in town for the weekend. Good prices on the drinks

I came here Christmas night, a reunion for myself and my gays. ‘Twas a fun night!
Pros:
— Cover charge is only $ 6.
— Affordable, tasty and strong drinks.
— Like 99.3% male, my hag and the DJ were the only real chicks there.
— Good amount of Go-​gos, weren’t my taste but provided an entertaining experience nonetheless.
— 2 levels, the second level is more for chillin’ and being a bystander.
— Most memorable thing is that some hot guy and I were dirty dancing and mutually groping each other. The world slowed down for a few minutes.
No-​no!!:
— Bathrooms were dirty, so much toilet paper covering the floor of the stall I was in.
— I didn’t get that hot guy’s name or number. If I did, we would’ve smashed at my hotel that night for sure. I tried looking for him on grindr but failed. #THOTLIFE
Even though the bathroom was filthy, I shall return for another night of unleashing the wild part of me I keep restrained 5 days a week from 9 to 5 and on front of family.

This was thy worst bar I’ve ever been to! It was my girls friend and I first time in sf at a gay club. We where having a good time, but then one of the bartenders there ruined it for me. I asked for a drink (not to mention I waited for over 20 minutes and the bartender, skipping me repeatedly) he asked with attitude I need your I.D. I said to him very politely, the security checked my ID. And yes I knew that he just needs it to find my card on tab. But he says to me really rudely, well I don’t know who the hell you are!
I finally get my drink only enough to find he made me two drinks. And I know I only asked for one. He charges me, and doesn’t even asked me if I ordered two just to make sure, which would’ve been fine! I signed the for the bill and give no tip. (who would give such a tip for bad service)! Terrible service if you ask me!

Although very minor, scrapes sustained because of your ignorant security. Friends were kicked out without question because they were adjacent to a fight. When i questioned the security, I was dragged out, slammed into the exit door, and sustained very minor injuries. Regardless, very unprofessional.

From a straight guys perspective, Beaux wasn’t THAT bad; Lemme explain.
I have been coming to this venue, on and off, since it was trigger. Sure, sometimes it was intentional while most was a fluke (see: after lime or dollar drinks at Qbar). I had a friend who was a bartender, the crowd was mixed and the music was good.
Fast forward three years.
Beaux, although similar to trigger, has its own identity. Dance-​y music, ass-​less underwear’d dudes and sloppy straight girls yelling «THIS IS MAH SONG!!!»; Just another night in the Castro, AMIRITE?!
two things that stuck out at Beaux for me: ample seating and nice bartenders.
This is a reflection point in life — when you go to a club and find yourself happy you can sit down and talk and not be forced to dance to be bumped by said dancers. Next thing you know ill be yelling at kids to get off my lawn, who knows.
The bartenders, although busy and flustered for the most part, served graciously and with a smile… Same things cant be said for most clubs I go to. Now, I won’t find myself wondering «hmmm, where should I drink tonight. AH. Beaux has nice bartenders, IM THERE!»…but it is a nice touch and a lost craft, especially in San Francisco.
Fellow breeders (is that even PC?), don’t fret. Come in, get your ego stroked (EGO…get yer mind out tha gutta!) and dance the night away.
And remember, as a gay friend once told me, «getting hit on by a gay man is the biggest compliment, they’re pickier than women since they judge you head to toe».

Great dance bar in the Castro. Super clean and smells good! Place is spacious enough you can walk around. Affordable drinks. Co-​ed bathroom, but fully stalked the whole night through.
Great music to dance to. My favorite was just watching the go-​go boys do there thing. I had a great time in this very warm loving environment. Would go back here again for sure.

i’ll give this place 3 stars for now, ONLY because i went during sunday funday and didn’t get to experience the night life. I love what they did to this place. as well all know or most of us know anyway, this place is always getting bought out by different owners, so its ALWAYS changing. different name different set up blah blah you know the deal.
i enjoyed the drink i got, it was on their menu and it’s called EFF ME. lol. it was quite refreshing. almost tasted like a refresher from starbucks. my friends ordered a different cocktails and those were good as well. they all tasted refreshing actually. not bad at all.
i actually wanna come back here — not sure what type of music they play here since it was my first time coming back here when it’s been bought out by a new owner. i’ll update this review… later…whenever that’ll be.
