Warm Planet Bikes

Awesome shop. The guys working here did an excellent job on my bike and didn’t try push me to replace parts which weren’t necessary to replace. Excellent customer service I would recommend this place over any other in San Francisco (I’ve been biking these streets just under ten years).

I came in the other day because I just started biking to work. I was concerned as to why people who were pedaling much less vigorously than I were passing me by with ease. Heck, I think some people were even walking faster!
Anyhow, I learned about tire pressure and seat height from some of the nicest employees around. I didn’t buy anything — this time — but they let me fill up my tires at the front of the store. I will definitely go back for all my bicycle needs in the future!

This review is for the an amazing bike trailer I purchased at this shop. If you aren’t familiar, this place has anything and everything folding bike, including bike trailers. I had a unique problem which many SF residents with bikes may face; shopping with a compact bike. I bought a bike Friday tikit from warm planet a year ago and realized I needed more capacity for bigger trips to Trader Joes. I used to use a push cart but walking takes forever. I discussed my issue with the owner here and he recommended a Burley trailer product named the Travoy.
It’s a rear trailer that’ll fit just about any bike large or folding. And get this, it also folds, which is perfect for my limited size apartment. As well, you can get shopping specific bags which are a snap to connect to the trailer. Its quick release system is very well designed and even over-​loading the trailer while having it tip over didn’t break the product. (I’m very rough with my toys :)). Well anyway, while shopping it was easy to disconnect my trailer in 1 second, shop and be on my way; all 50 additional pounds of me. After my trip from Trader Joe’s I sped down steep bumpy hills with ease and had no notice to having a trailer on my back side.
All in all it was an excellent solution to my problem, it’s well designed and thanks to kash (the owner here) and burley trailers I now am able to go to further distances to shop.
(As a note: I was worried that the price would’ve been much more than amazon but thankfully burley and warm planet bikes have good control of their prices and it was identical in price. pheww)

The nicest bike shop in SF, maybe ever. Helped get my broken frame issue solved; called the manufacturer and made sure my warranty was honored. Every contact was friendly and featured fresh info. Very reasonable rates — maybe too low. They have my business forever.

I’m giving them a top-​notch review for customer service. I was visiting from LA and traveling with my bike. My back is KILLING me so I was looking for a «Thudbuster» suspension seat post to help cushion the bumps of the streets of San Francisco. Kash took me through them, showed me one of them that was sold already, and was going to special order one for my bike. But, ultimately, he recommended I just order it directly via Amazon, since I may be out of town before it arrives. So basically he was very helpful and not just focused on trying to sell me merchandise. And you know what – that’s the mark of a great bike shop.

I had to get my rear tube replaced/​patched as I got a flat on the way to work. Warm Planet Pikes was the closest option as I needed to get it fixed before heading home. I called ahead, brought my bike in, told them what time I need it back, they agreed, and I went back to work. Picked my bike at the agreed time, paid. All was well.
The first issue I had was when I got on Market Street and my rear brakes – the only brakes on the bike – took too much force to engage. At a stop sign, I noticed that the quick release was wide open, so I pulled it down, and my brakes were back to normal.
Just before I got home, I got another flat on the same rear tire. I took off the wheel and inspected the tire. The service dude did not remove the piece of glass that caused the first flat. This is something you always do when replacing a tube on your bike.
Instead of enjoying my evening, I had to take out the tube, patch it, remove the glass from my tire, and reassemble it all back so I can bike to work the next day.
Pros:
$ 17ish gets you a new tube installed
The owner is a nice and friendly dude
Cons:
You might get a flat because the piece of glass in that tire is still there
You might crash into something because they left the brakes’ quick release open

Love this shop. I came to Warm Planet in need of bike help. I found myself suddenly thrown into the world of daily bike commuting, when my car died and I refused to replace it. I brought my 25-​year old Murray in to his shop, and Kash generously replaced some parts so I could commute to work. He spent a lot of time with me, teaching me the basics and giving me the knowledge I needed to quickly and safely get on the road. A few weeks later, he helped me replace my old Murray with a Specialized, and upgraded parts to accommodate my daily commute. He taught me about clipless pedals, shifting, and spent time with me on the streets of SF, so I could learn the rules of urban bike commuting. There’s nothing like learning in real-​time. It made me a much more confident rider. I can’t say enough about his generosity and sincere dedication to bike commuting.
Their products are great and their customer service is outstanding. Will be returning soon to purchase my first new bike and I can’t wait.

Have you ever noticed how the bike lanes in SF are glassy? Like all sparkly? My tires have!
I got a flat at lunch and took my bike in to the shop and they fixed it in minutes. I have a folding bike (Dahon Uno) so they even had the tube in stock. They are super helpful and fast. The prices are reasonable.
They also have a great stock of folding bikes and accessories.

I went in looking for a folding bicycle; they asked carefully about my needs, and I test-​rode quite a number of them. The range is the best I’ve seen for foldies. Overall, great service.

Really friendly service at 8:30am when every other bike shop is closed. Kept having some issues with a repeated flat in the same wheel. I was at my last leg with figuring it out. Warm Planet was able to diagnose the issue and change my flat in just a few minutes, and I was able to ride in to work without being too late!

Ted and Kash are awesome. They gave my bike some TLC after I got hit by a hit-​and-​run driver.

My favorite LBS (local bike shop). Low ego, friendly service, hours that facilitate easy dropoff and pickup, competent mechanics. I’ll keep bringing my bike here as long as they’re around.
It’s a little sketchy getting in the door sometimes, but these guys are top notch.
The next time I’m ready to buy an ebike, they’ll get my business.

Early rainy morning, bummer commute made worse by a flat. No pump, out of luck, everywhere’s closed. Then I call Warm Planet, the closest shop I could find. They don’t open for half an hour, but magic mechanic Derek picks up, unlocks for me, changes the tire — all this before his morning coffee — and sends me on my way. 45 minutes later — one of those days… — flat number two! Obviously I head back to WP. Another quick fix and I’m off.
Nicest guys, amazing service, great shop. My new downtown go-​to for repairs, parts, and anything else. A+

Walked into this hidden gem of a store a few days ago because the folding mechanism of my Dahon handle post wouldn’t work correctly. Cash greeted me right away and brought me to the two mechanics in the back. They solved the issue in a few minutes and showed me how everything worked (I’m pretty noob when it comes to bikes). They even adjusted my brakes when I asked about them. Great team over there. After they were through I walked to the register ready to pay only to find out that Cash wasn’t charging me. I wanted I give Warm Planet Bikes my business because they were all such great guys. I asked about the best lock and Cash helped me choose the right one and demonstrated how to lock everything up. Will definitely be back for all my folding-​bike needs.

This is folding bike store. They specialize in Bike Fridays, which is where I had my custom BF shipped, with accompanied suitcase. I found their wrenches to be very knowledgeable and accomodating. They have a full array of tubes and tires for multiple sized folding bike wheels as well as other specialty items. Good mechanics and personable staff is a winning combination. Living in Oakland, I still take the journey into the city for my folding bike needs.

Awesome service, super nice guys, and fixed my bike for ¹⁄₇^th of the price that the neighbor (Huckleberry) quoted.
There were some rather simple things wrong with my brand new bike (which I incompetently assembled myself) that I knew would only take a very short time to fix but I did not have the expertise to fix. For example, the cables were in the wrong place so the handle had to be flipped vertically 360 degrees, the brakes needed to be adjusted slightly, and the gear shifting mechanism needed to be tuned.
Huckleberry refused to treat these as individual issues and said they would have to charge me for a full tune-​up. Also, Huckleberry was apparently so busy that their first available appointment was three days later. Warm Planet fixed all my bike’s issues in 15 minutes on the spot without requiring the expensive tune-​up.

My beloved folding bike was stolen from my garage a few years ago. I went with a change to the Public bike. Don’t get me wrong– it’s a nice bike to pedal around the city with.
But forget trying to haul it up and down stairs or get on & off the train.
It has sat largely untouched in my garage as a result.
Flash forward to this summer. I want to ride more, and my wife suggested we just go take a look at Warm Planet. We spent an hour there, with the very best customer service ever. I left with a cool grey/​orange Tern, & a matching helmet, and I am back to happily zipping down to Caltrain and able to carry with minimal effort.

Best customer service I’ve ever had from a bicycles shop, ever. Very friendly service and very informative when it came to telling me about my bike. I will be returning here again.
