World of Stereo 2

Yeah I have visited DJ World Stereo II back in 2011 to buy a pair of them plastic skull candy headphones which costed me over $ 40 to get. The very nice man made a deal to only sell it to me for $ 38. I said ok and paid for it. I am so not gonna go over the details about all the little things they do with certain customers at this store in the Tenderloin.
I don’t know where the old guy is nowadays since I stopped visiting the store. Oh well. He’s in his 50’s or 60’s. I don’t know what race is he. Sorry. It’s sad that my skull candy headphones had broke. Oh yeah, it was because my ex-​house mate had snuck up behind me and broke them accidentally. Luckily, I forgave him because those headphones were made of plastic and nearly costed me $ 40 to get. Still good to listen to music with.
I am never getting those again at this store.

Not many high-​end Audio Stores to choose from. World of Stereo 2 stocks a huge selection and are very knowledgeable about the products they carry. I was looking to make a new purchase and wanted to see the Shure SE315 IEM’s in my hand to understand if I would like them. The person who helped me was George, he was very patient, answered all my questions and helped me find the right mix of what I was looking for. After my purchase, he showed me how to use them properly. Everything George told me was accurate. Though it is not convenient for me to drive there, I went back 2 weeks later and made another purchase.

Traded in my turntables for a digital controller at World of Stereo 2. As a small person, trying to lug around two cases, plus a mixer and cords, isn’t ideal. The controller isn’t nearly as cool in theory, but I do like the fact that it’s not only portable but also incredibly plug and play.
Trading in any used equipment is a bit of a gamble, but the guys here seemed relatively fair. There’s a 1-​year guarantee on any items purchased in-​house and they know their stuff. Very polite, definitely not a haggling match. Could I have gotten more for my Technics? Maybe. But I would’ve had to shop around to several stores and make a huge fuss — which probably would’ve gotten an extra $ 100 or so of credit. Meh… not worth it.
The location leaves much to be desired, especially when carrying expensive heavy stuff in and out. Makes one slightly nervous, even on a Sunday morning. But once you’re inside the store it’s safe enough.
So far, am happy with the trade and would definitely send any other DJ lover there to get their supplies. Plus, they have bubble machines and confetti guns for sale… might return to purchase one for myself, now that I’ve got the room and carrying capabilities.

Almost 5 stars because I got a great deal on a pair of open box BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm can headphones with a 30 day warranty… But, I gotta take away 1 star for the employee who grazed my ass with his hand approximately 6 times as he walked by.
I mean, I know I have a pretty stupendous posterior and I was listening to music for a good 30 minutes, but have a little class, sir.
The one guy whose name I now can’t remember (not the ass toucher) but is probably the youngest one in there helped me out by showing me all the can headphones that were opened or had store samples to use. I checked out the headphones I bought and a pair of Audio Technica MX50 headphones as well. They had a lot of other headphones but most you can’t try on because they are sealed in the box. I liked my BeyerDynamics better than the Audio Technicas so I sprang for them due to a friend’s recommendation and their sound. I checked online and they generally retail for $ 200 but I got them for $ 150 and he threw in a 30 day warranty with a free adapter, «just for me.» Probably because I haggled with him. He offered me a discount for each of them so I get the feeling that if you go in here to try and haggle with them in a nice way like I did, you will make their day enough for them to throw you a little discount. Just don’t be a dick about. I was evidently grinning from ear to ear because seeing all the DJ equipment made me super happy. Also, dancing to the awful EDM music some dude was playing when I walked in might have helped my case too.
I will probably be back there during the day to fiddle with the DJ kits they have, but seriously wouldn’t recommend kicking it there after dark because it’s in the Tenderloin and even though I live here the riff raff makes me cagey.

used to love this place for it’s competitive pricing but after a few bad experiences im over it. all their control vinyl is warped beware. also don’t put down a deposit on any orders they will try to pressure you into it and then hold you responsible if you change your mind or happen to misplace your receipt even though they have carbon copy. they lost a large customer today sadly. sf is washed

I have to give many thanks and kudos to Josh who made my experience a true joy. Josh is a DJ who is very popular among the EDM scene in the city so he absolutely knows his products. I came in needing help purchasing in ear monitors for some upcoming gigs. Like any run of the mill salesperson would do, Josh did NOT try to upsell me on ones that I genuinely didn’t need. He asked the right questions and made sure I got exactly what I needed. I recommend Josh and World of Stereo 2 to anyone who is a bit unsure about what they need and why. This guy will absolutely take proper care of you and send you out the door with no single thoughts of buying remorse.

I was overcharged 30% for a pair of headphones in-​store vs. their own online price. It was also 60% more expensive relative to the Amazon/​Best Buy price. Don’t go here unless you want to be ripped off.

I have been coming here for years. Best staff, and the best deals. Theyre always willing to help out and work with you to make sure you get what you need at the best possible price. I’ve referred tons of family and friends here and they all feel the same. good job guys.

I came in looking for a specific type of mic stand. The owner was the person helping me and he said «hrmm. follow me» and took me upstairs to their inventory room. Opened up a newly packaged mic stand that was half of what I wanted. He then opened up a second newly packaged stand that didn’t have the other piece I needed. I felt obligated to buy something because he was so helpful, so I offered this Unilocal review instead. He gladly offered to order the stand I was looking for.
SO … great service, great selection… support ‘em! And if you’re arriving on foot, bring a friend. Sketchy people in this area of town, but don’t let them stop you. Ask for the owner if you can; he’s an awesome guy.

I’ve been buying my equipment here since i started djing back in 2001, i personally know the owners and his whole crew, World of stereo its all about attention if you want the best equipment for your club or party they will spent time with you showing always whats the best and always try to feet your budget. if you want a trustable place come talk to Muklis, Maruan and Loui.

I have been buying all of my gear from World of Stereo 2 over the course of the last 5 years. The staff are intelligent, helpful and best of all they ensure you get a good deal.

For all you DJs, Producers, Singers music lovers this place is huge and filled with all kinds of equipments for your needs. When I say everything they have everything. They even sell cameras too and some other stuff. But be careful because they have homeles people near the store and people smoking you know what, you can smell it all throughout the store. But yeah definitely stop in when u get a chance or in the area.

I’ve been buying my DJ accessories exclusively from them for the past 3 years. They’ve always been helpful, and always ready to wheel & deal. But the thing that sticks out in my mind is one of my recent purchases — A very expensive pair of turntable cartridges, in which I suspected one of them was defective. Unfortunately, it wasn’t so easy to duplicate the problem for salespeople. It took several months and return visits to pinpoint the problem. And once they did, they replaced the defective part at no additional charge or complaining. This is why I keep coming back to them. Highly recommended!

I posted a set of turntables for sale on craigslist. These guys contacted me and told me to bring them down to the store and they would buy them from me.
We play the numbers game for a little bit and we come to an agreement, but the man behind the counter seemed irritated. He threw the money on the counter and walks away while saying «Here ya go, now take your money and get outta here before I change my mind» as if he was doing me a huge favor. I take the wad of crumpled money, count it on the counter, and leave.
When I arrived home I counted the money again and noticed a counterfeit $ 100 bill within the stack. I do not know if the counter man deliberately passed me off the «funny money» or not (hence 2 stars instead of 1) I do agree it was my fault for not being more thorough, but I just want to warn people selling to this place to count all the money in front of the buyer AND check each bill for fakes. MAKE SURE THE COUNTER MAN SEES YOU COUNT AND INSPECT THE MONEY.
Other than that, they were rude (on the phone and in persron), pushy, and kept trying to get me to trade for some stuff I didn’t need.
I wouldn’t recommend.

As a guy who moonlights as a DJ here in the city, I can’t even begin to tell you how many times World of Stereo has saved my my life, and indirectly, saved your life (cue «Last Night a DJ Saved My Life»). Whether it’s a set of needles last second, a ground screw, or the like… they’ll always have your back!

So I’m looking for a specific piece of DJ equipment. Decided to call this place after finding them on Unilocal.It’s 12:57 on a friday, and the phone rang and rang until someone picked up the receiver, set it back down, and disconnected me.
Guess that’s a goodbye for both parties.

It’s obviously the only viable option for any of your needs. and for once… it’s AWESOME. They don’t gouge, they don’t upsell… they help you buy what you need or let you buy what you know you need.
If you are dumb and get taken, you actually might get upsold. But just buy what you need, and they will deal, and you will pay about as much as internet prices plus shipping, without the wait.
Good times. I am going tomorrow, first time in awhile. Hoot.

The World of Stereo. Situated on gritty Market St., the location is less than ideal, but the walk to the store is worth the risk. A far as I know, this place is the only game in town when it comes to trading in old gear for credit towards purchases. I love this about WOS! The bargaining process is actually pretty nerve wracking (for me anyways) so I’m not always sure if I am getting a fair price in the moment, but after going, thinking that I got ripped off, and then doing my homework after the fact, I think that this place actually has a lot going for it.
They are the only show in town as far as trade ins are concerned, and for this you pay a price. I came in and traded old gear for some new stuff. They haggled, I haggled, we came to a deal.
This is why they got a 2 though…
I told him what I wanted for my stuff, and. the sales man cut open an unmarked box and showed me the parts to a stand and said what was in the unmarked box was what was on the front of another box. Okay, I thought, until I got home and discovered that I got a similar, but unequal product. The product on the front of the box that the salesman showed me had a tray for Serato that was not on the unit that I brought home.
So, I drove out (thank goodness it’s not that far from my home) and told them that there were missing parts, and the salesman told me that he merely showed me the picture on the front of the other box as an example of the «L format» of the stand, not to say that the product inside had a tray like the one pictured. Then he tried to sell me the one in the box I saw for more money. The sales team then started talking to me about how i got a really good price for the things that I brought in (which, granted, I wasn’t using anyways), but one of them even told me that I should be happy with what I got and he would have just let it go. Seriously? Frankly, I smelled something fishy, although it may have been the sandwiches they staff were eating.
I don’t think that any honest paying customer should be made to feel that way, and I think that trading for bunk gear and trying to pay the rent make for strange bedfellows. All I gotta say is, protect yourself. Ask an itemized receipt, ask for the return policy in writing, and write down the value of your gear for trade and cash when you bargain. Know what you want, and what you can get it for elsewhere. Also, decide what you are willing to pay for the convenience of «I need it NOW!» before you step foot in this place. They worst thing that they can do is show you the door.
