Visionarium Optometry

I was a little bit hesitant about this place because it’s been a while since I tried someone new. From the very beginning there were very professional starting with the receptionist all the way to the doctor. The doctor took his time to explain to me what my eye problem was and answered all my questions. I love the email and text reminders.

Best experience ever. My daughter first time coming to pick out her first pair of glass. Well taken care from John. He is the best and we have been coming her for years. He is patience and caring.

I came here because it was close to home and there were great Unilocal reviews. I have vision insurance and it was time for an exam and new glasses. I was so impressed with the young lady that helped me pick out frames and explained all the extras etc. She even ordered some frames because they didn’t have the right size in stock. So I picked out some frames and had my exam. I was so impressed with how thorough the exam was. They did things that none of my other eye doctors did. At that point I was very happy. I came back and picked up my new glasses. I immediately felt something was wrong. Things up close were super sharp but long range I could barely make out street signs or license plates. I told the gal that was so helpful and she said it could take a few weeks for me to get used to my new glasses. I gave it a few days and couldn’t take it. I went back and explained that when looking at things from a distance, I could see better without the glasses. That just didn’t seem right to me.
I was give another quick exam and the Dr. Ordered me some new lenses. (I’m assuming they did) I came in and tried on the new lenses. They were better but I could still see better long distance without the glasses. I decided to give it a while. Well months later, I still am not happy with the glasses. I’m not one of those people wants to keep going back to get it right. I guess I’ll just wait a while then go somewhere else. Maybe back to Costco. Their service was not much but I was happy with the glasses for years.

This is a review for Dr. Chang, she is absolutely amazing! She makes sure to remind me about scheduling retinal exams since my prescription is high, and gave me many recommendations for best practices to preserve my vision and suggested some brands of eyedrops I could get for dry eye. She is absolutely not judgemental at all and very easy to talk to and ask questions. She even gave me two separate prescriptions for computer use and normal use too which is awesome.
The rest of the staff is great as well and really helps you understand all the costs before you pull any triggers. They are great about helping you with any insurance also and give good suggestions of what types of frames are best for your particular prescription.

My eye doctor is here and he is good. I got my prescription quickly and got what I needed. Overall good experience. Check out the specks on the wall. There are some decent glasses at this place. Remember to eat lots of green to help with vision.

Doctor Quan and the whole staff are great and very helpful. When I needed to see him in a emergency, he squeezed me in between other patients.

Great service, friendly and knowledgable staff. I am always in and out in a very timely manner. Any question I’ve ever had, be it about my eye health or how one of their machines works, has always been answered as thoroughly as I could hope for. I’m very happy with the service I’ve received.

Excellent and friendly service. They repair glasses while you wait. Always willing to help, even if the glasses are not from them. THAT is customer service!

I went here to get a new glasses prescription (because my normal optometrist was very busy through March), and I was very impressed. My optometrist was Dr. Quang* (spell check?) and he was fantastic. Very personable and knowledgable. The receptionists were friendly and helpful, and it was a very pleasent experience overall.
I’d come back.

Good selection of frames from high end to every thing below. Good choice of lens coatings and a ok range of tints. Service is great. Convenient location, plentiful parking. Plenty to do if your eyes are dilated and you need to wander around while waiting.

I’ve been coming here since I received my first pair of glasses 14 years ago. It’s a place my family all go to. I like to tag along when my mom or sis has an appointment to get my glasses adjusted.
Dr. Quan is very nice and isn’t the kind of doctor that will jip you. He’s very caring and honest.
Picked up my new glasses last week and loving them!

Haven’t gotten my eyes checked/​gotten any new glasses for a long time. This place is pretty close to my house so I made an apointment and went in a week later. Receptionist was very nice when I had to change my appointment times. I was going to be a little late for the appointment but I called to tell them that I was coming. They were really nice and patient about that. Everyone was so nice it was very comforting. The eye exam was pretty quick and easy. They set aside $ 99 glasses which was nice. They have a decent amount of selection. It took me a while to choose one out all the glasses but I found one I really liked. One lady was very helpful when I told her what I was looking for too.

What’s not to like? Easy to book an appointment. Two convenient locations. Friendly, helpful staff. The most up-​to-​date computerized equipment. I had a comprehensive eye examination, fitting for contact lenses, glasses, and loupes. All in record time. Dr. Quan made sure to explain the options at each step of the way and the reasons for choosing one option over the other.
My appointment was done promptly, with no wait, and I was finished quickly and on my way. All for a great price, thanks to the Unilocal coupon and all with a smile!

I came here for my 1^st comprehensive eye exam in 7 years. I have vision insurance again! woo! This optometrist was listed as a provider. I am so glad I met Dr. Quan. He really is an congenial and full of patience.
I chose Visionarium Optometry not only for the excellent location and free parking but also for the updated and high-​tech optometry equipment used in exams. I did not have to endure those drops that dilate your eyes and the puff of air on my pupils used in traditional glaucoma/​cataract tests.
Examinations are all done with scans and lasers now. Woo! Dr. Quan indulged all of my inner geek questions about the high-​tech medical equipment.
As it turns out I do need a new prescription. The selection and variety of frames is plentiful. I had no problem finding a nice modern and fashionable frame for my new glasses.

Visionarium offers a great variety of frames for both children and adults. I come specifically because they are a VSP provider. I’ve used Visionarium for at least 3 different pairs of glasses (~5 years worth) and the turnaround time has always been sooner than expected (less than a week). They also have convenient hours which makes picking up your ready frames easy.

I’m having problems with the after check up service. After my eye exam, I paid for an ample supply of contact lenses, and they didn’t place the order so I had to wait longer than usual. Sure, they were willing to give me a couple of pairs to tide me over, but this is not the first time this has happened.
Having prescription glasses made is taking way too long because of one thing or another. They claim it was the lab’s fault. But of course, everything is fully paid for and they already have my money.
Pity, because many years ago, the service was spot on. Not anymore.
I will be ordering my glasses and lenses from other places in the future.
I can recommend having eye exams here but I do not recommend their other services.

Came here for an eye exam in February 2012 and didn’t realize how badly they messed up until recently.
Everything was fine at first, until a couple months later. They had told me before my exam that they accepted my insurance. Much to my surprise, I got a call from them later saying that they didn’t accept it after all, and I was on the hook for the full cost of the exam.
I spoke to the person on the phone, telling them that it was their mistake, not mine. Then on a couple more occasions, up to about six months later, I had other people from the office calling me and sending me bill notices in the mail.
I thought that was the end of it. Then in August I went to buy more contacts lenses. I always buy online using my prescription — the website I buy from calls your optometrist to verify. I gave their website the contact lens info from the prescription they had given me in February. The website called me after I placed my order saying the office at Visionarium had told them this prescription was the wrong one — the exact prescription I had been using since February. So I figured Visionarium had messed up the first time, and bought contacts with the different prescription they had provided this time around.
Yesterday I went to an eye exam at a different place, and found out that my contact had been overcorrecting my eyes by a number of 1! The new prescription Visionarium had given me after the payment issue was a –7, and turn out I only need a –6. Contact lens powers increase/​decrease in increments of .25, so this is a pretty big deal. Basically my prescription has been entirely too high for almost a year.
Since they gave me this different prescription right after the payment problem, I don’t know what to think. Seems like it could have been intentional, although I don’t want to jump to conclusions.
Bottom line: Best case scenario, they were incompetent. Worst case, they were malicious.

The folks at Visionarium are truly wonderful.
Earlier this year, I was headed back to school out of state and needed some contacts fast. (I wear glasses most of the time, but I was going to be walking to school daily through Milwaukee’s cold and wind and snow, and learned from last winter that glasses aren’t ideal in those conditions. Bay Area people may not understand. Just trust me.)
Dr. Quan’s staff squeezed me in for an appointment the same day I called, which was over the weekend! Dr. Quan examined my eyes thoroughly. I left the office with some contacts to try out. He squeezed me in again that day, before the office closed, so he could see how my eyes were responding to the contacts he’d fitted me with. When I returned for that check up, I received very thorough care and did not feel the least bit rushed.
Because I had very little experience putting in and taking out my contacts, Dr. Quan taught me how to do it himself, patiently watched me put in and take out my contact for each eye, and provided me with the feedback I needed to master my contacts!!! Now, I can put my contacts in and take them out with the best of them. Mirror or no mirror, while I’m on the phone, half asleep, it doesn’t matter! I never expected to have these things down like I did the day I left Dr. Quan’s office, but I do!
Something else: Dr. Quan and his staff ordered my contacts for me and saw to it that they were shipped to my WI address. The contacts arrived ahead of schedule.
I can’t say enough good things about Visionarium Optometry. Endless gratitude!

Dr. Quan is one of the friendliest and caring optometrist I have ever met. I moved to San Francisco from Los Angeles and I was not disappointed.
I lost the right side of my hard contacts and I panicked because I am absolutely blind without my contacts. I went there and he prescribed me with some temporary prescribed soft contacts for the time being. He wasnt able to provide me replacements for my hard contacts, but it’s completely understandable because my hard contacts were unique and they were only produced from my original optometrist in SoCal. Despite that, I know that Visionarium has the top notch staff because they remember your name and are extremely professional. They fix your glasses immediately when you accidentally break them and run in panicking, they fix your glasses if it’s not comfortable NO COMPLAINTS, and they clean your new glasses thoroughly when dispensing. The staff is very patient when training you for your first time wearing contacts and they will spend two hours with you even if they have to.
Overall, a great experience here.

I went in today to see if Visionarium could fix the glasses that I sat on three months ago. Since then, no matter how much I tried to bend it back into shape. it was never the same.
I walked in and even though they looked busy, they took the time to greet me and ask me how they could help. I explained how I bent my glasses and asked if they could fix it.
10 minutes later, I had my favorite pair of glasses in the condition that I bought them. Perfect!
They didn’t charge me for the fix and as always, they were friendly, professional and helpful.
I will continue to be a loyal client because every time I go in, I feel like they are there to help me and willing to go the extra mile.
