Vision Performance

Got my car just half year ago. As time goes, it got bored just by looking at all the stock parts. I decided to start web surfing about after-​market parts. At the same time, I was Unilocaling on auto shops that I wish could do a great transformation for my car. However, Vision Performance popped/​appeared on the screen with high stars/​reviews, and it’s really near where I live. So, I planned to give a try and bought the parts and my car in.
First time, I brought in the LED fog lights. Met Crosby, Kevin and Mike. They did a perfect job and charged me with a resonable price. Very satisfied. So, I planned to keep in touch with them. The second time, I brought in the rear spoiler, they installed in a fast pace, just around 20 minutes. The third time, I brought in the front lip bumper, side markers and license plate lights. They were really on time, called me exactly in one and a half hour. Totally satisfied with their work. Well, I just have to say that their customer services are EXCELLENT! They try their best to satisfy the needs for each customer. Five stars are surely worth it.

Swung by to pick up a ¹⁄₀ terminal and owner sold them to me for $ 10. No problem, cool. Then he says I can swing by and can use their crimper tool for free, great! Swing back around and the owner tries to charge me $ 10 for 10 minutes of work (he said it would only take him 10mins himself) and he said he hadn’t ate lunch so he decided to charge me for his time. Great customer service dick.

Honest and great service! Mike Didn’t up sell me and instead helped me save money! Different than other shops that will sell you unnecessary products or services!

Very friendly staff. They did a great job on my Viper alarm installation. They even registered the SmartStart for me before I came back to pick up my car. I am very happy with the workmanship, price, and the business’ dedication to making sure the job was done right.

I had a good experience recently with having Vision order and install a replacement remote for me. I would totally go to them for more complicated auto electronic type stuff.
Super friendly and helpful service, they know what they’re doing no question about it. You might have to wait for attention and other downsides are that the hours are not super convenient for the average working person. It’s a small business without a ton of staff and that’s just the way it is. It’s worth waiting to get the level of service they provide.

If you want an authentic shopping experience, whether it’s purchasing a «squash scent» JDM air freshener or planning a motor swap for your Civic, these are your guys. Nostalgia at its finest!
I’ve been a customer here since 2003 and plan to be for years to come. It’s great to know that a place like Vision Performance still exists, keeping the Japanese car scene alive and well in San Francisco.

I’ve had two great experiences with Vision Performance installing car stereos:
1. CD Changer in my ’89 BMW 535i broke, so I figured it was time to upgrade to something that could play music from my phone. I walked in and they helped me pick out a stereo, and scheduled me for the next day for the install. Everything was done quickly, my new stereo worked great, and the prices were very reasonable.
2. After getting rid of my BMW I now have a ’08 Audi A4, unfortunately it still had a the factory head unit with no aux/​usb input or bluetooth. After a few months of constantly switching out CDs I decided it was time to upgrade. I went back to Vision since they had done a good job on my last car. They spent a lot of time helping me pick out a new head unit and explaining to me the various install options. They had to order some parts that weren’t in stock, which they said would be here Friday. I had a road trip coming up and that weekend and really wanted my new stereo installed by then. They said that once the parts were in it should be no problem to do the install that day.
They called me on Friday to let me know the parts were there, I dropped the car off in the late morning and picked the car up that afternoon. Everything worked great and they even helped me pair my iPhone with the stereo. This should be the end of this happy story, but a week later my car started having trouble starting and needed to be jumped, and driving it around didn’t seem to charge the battery. I was worried that something was wrong with my stereo and it had been draining the battery, so I took it back to Vision and they happily went over everything to make sure it was installed correctly and tested my battery. They said it was probably the battery or the alternator that was the issue, but they happily disconnected the stereo just to remove it as a possibility. A couple of days with the disconnected stereo and the issue still persisted, so I decided to install a new battery in the car, and bingo! Everything is fine now. I took the car back to Vision and they reconnected the stereo no fuss no muss.
They spent at least 1.5−2 hours diagnosing my car and disconnecting/​reconnecting the car stereo and they never complained once, always maintained a courteous and professional attitude and didn’t even charge for the extra hours of service. I would definitely recommend using them, and would go there again myself. The only downsides I would say is that parking in the area is a pain, and they don’t have a huge selection of stereos (seems like they mostly carry Pioneer).

My car alarm key chain battery is dead. No problem right? Just change the battery– wait, the screw is rounded! Instead of wanting to get ripped off and going to my mechanic (at the time), I seeked help from the people of Unilocal,and was not disapointed. The shop manager at the time was polite, didn’t rush, and exchanged stories.
Overall, great business and great help.

Great friendly service. I showed up with a new stereo (in box) to be installed in my very old truck. Got a quick estimate at a fair price, a quick turnaround, and a clean install. They had all the necessary extra bits at reasonable prices considering they’re maintaining a retail storefront in SF.
Feels like *old* SF out there in the Sunset, too; makes me all nostalgic. Will go back if I have any other car audio needs.

I had trouble with my windshield wipers, and had the motor replaced by my mechanic. Strangely enough, my alarm system wouldn’t lock the doors or work at all. My mechanic checked it out and said I might need a new alarm. I called Vision Performance and talked to Mike, trying to figure out what was wrong. I dropped my car off and in an hour and a half, all they had to do was change the fuse. Voila, everything works great. Mike and Crosby were very fair and I would recommend this business to anyone. Great guys, great service, great business.

I also had an issue with my alarm system. I called the dealership and they wanted to charge me close to $ 500 to get me a new fob and program it but only after charging me $ 150 for a diagnostic. I went here to Ylep and looked for some place local. Vision came up and I called.
After spending a while on the phone with me and asking a few questions, it was determined that all I needed to do was get a new key fob. I had to get this fixed asap so Vision did the research for me, found a local place for me to go get my fob. I had the instructions to program the fob and tried a bunch of times to get it to work but I had no luck. I drove the car over to Vision and within 5 minutes they had the fob programmed for me.
These guys are great. They went totally out of their way to help a complete stranger and in the end just asked that I spread the word. So I’m spreading it! If you have any car needs give these guys a call. They also do service and are really chill to deal with! Great customer service!
If there was a 6^th star, they’d be getting it from me!

I called Vision Performance today to see if they could remove my car alarm system. Apparently my car is in «theft «mode after losing my keys and the keyless entry remote that turns the alarm off and on. I had to pay a Locksmith to make new keys but then the car wouldn’t start.
The Locksmith worked on my car for like two hours trying to get if out of «theft» mode, but even disconnecting the alarm didn’t work. He advised me to have it towed to a car alarm specialist… so when I called Vision Performance today, expecting to make an appointment to bring it in, and pay at least $ 100 to look at it, not to mention the tow fees… a super nice guy named Mike answered the call and advised me to try pushing a button (which of course I had already tried pushing but he told me to hold it down while starting the car.) And I could not believe the car started!
Mike saved me a couple hundred bucks. I will be giving them my future business because he could have easily had me come in and charge me for an hours worth of work just to press the button for me. Vision Performance has totally won my TRUST, thanks Mike, your awesome!!!

The bad: Their shop is hard to find (sign is faded to the point of being unreadable) and there is no parking. I had to take the car back TWICE because they didn’t install the alarm correctly. After the first return trip, you’d think they’d check their own work. I understand not knowing the car, but they didn’t even make sure they’d done it right. That’s just sloppy.
The good: Excellent prices and they worked hard to make it right, for free. They easily spent seven hours on my car, and never asked me for a dime extra. To be fair, it was a brand new model and the after-​market car alarm had trouble integrating. There’s one remaining bug that has to be fixed by the dealer. But they did everything they could to make the customer happy and that’s worth a lot.

I’ve never actually taken my car here, but I’ve tried twice. The first time was months ago: I knew EXACTLY what was wrong with my audio (the auxiliary cable was loose behind the stereo and just needed to be plugged back in). They wanted to charge me a full hour’s work just to run a diagnostic type test, then charge me a half hour to do the work, that is, PLUG THE CABLE back in! The total would have been $ 120 plus fees and tax. Also, they didn’t want to see me that day, or even the next, but make an appointment for a week later. I said HELL NO. I took my car to AudioLogix and they did the SAME work for $ 30 even. No fuss or hassle.
So fast forward to today: I called in again, to see if I could bring my car in with the same problem as before (it’s a loose cable and there are lots of pot holes and uneven roads in the city to jostle the cable). Again with the $ 80 an hour, $ 40 minimum, plus all the other stuff they wanted to charge me for! Even though they are closer to home and it would have been WAY more convenient for me to bring my car here, I will NEVER call this place again. MAJOR rip off. I don’t care what the guy on the phone said, I’ve been to other shops in and out of the city, and I know what a competitive price is, and this place? THE WORST in terms of fair pricing. Back to AudioLogix for me.

The guys were friendly there, but overall my experience here was not satisfactory. I had them replace both my hid bulbs because one was beginning to discolor, he replaced the bulbs, the next day i brought the car back because now instead of discolor. the still did not match, one side was white with a hint of blue, the other side was just white with no blue. i asked for it to be replace
The man explained that he did not have any extra bulbs and that he would «order some and replace it and go from there» he tells me that it normally takes about 2 days (wednesday) for the shipment to come in. I told him that it’s cool and that i’ll be back on friday. Friday rolls around i went in for the bulbs, he tells me that it did not come in, and that it should be coming in today. Then promises that he’ll call once it comes in. surprise surprise. he chose not to call AGAIN… in my mind i was thinking. if he knew that the shipment didnt come in on wednesday. isn’t it common sense to call towards the end of the day, so that i dont have to make a wasted trip there?
Nice guys. but nice dont make up for the terrible customer service. I should of listened to my friend about this place, i figure he was just over reacting but i guess that i was the fool at the end for choosing to come to this place. Trust me. i WONT BE BACK. so you guys DON’T have to call.

These guys are great, worth the drive from Antioch. First time I came in was to replace a dead HID, and they were straight forward, no BS, and I paid the lowest I’d shopped around for. Came back again with my own lights and they installed them for dirt cheap.
I like it because they don’t treat me as a «tee hee cars are pretty» chick and help me with what I need to get done with no additional bullshit. I’m probably paying the difference in gas for this drive, but I don’t care, I’d rather give to those who are doing their jobs correctly instead of jerks that are trying to take me through the ringer.

Aite, this is my first ever review and im letting vision performance pop my Unilocal cherry. I was hesitant to go there at first due to the horrible Unilocaler’s reviews, however, after going there a few times. I realize they deal with some hard customers. People bring in OLD OLD OLD OLD cars and expect them to magically throw in an alarm system and fix everything else. Cross knows his stuff, and he’s an honest family/​business man. Michael is also a nice guy.
They get things done Fast. and even if they dont, theres a bunch of nice asian restaurants to dine around noriega. Cross knows his electrical stuff. My dog chewed my F**KING wires under my seat TWICE causing my seat belt sensor to go crazy and my air bag light popping up. Hes a cute dog though so i forgave him. Anyways, Cross identified the problem pretty quick the first time and got it fixed in no time. 2^nd time i found the problem and Cross fixed it again in no time. A bottle of water and 2 cigarettes and i was ready to go.
For those who think they charge a lot, buy it online and let them install it for you. Vision performance is like the only import performance shop in south san francisco that i know of and i think they are great. Be grateful that we got a awesome nice little performance shop still serving us well in our area! TIMES ARE TOUGH MANG!

As the other reviewer said, this place needs a zero star rating! It is not a coincidence that so many of us are having the same problems with this dishonest and incompetent business.
Every time I took my audio in to be repaired by Vision Performance, they broke something else unrelated to the original repair, then each time claimed it was not their fault and expected me to pay for their mistakes! They put things back wrong so my dash always squeaks and makes noise now, which it never did before. I would never let them touch my car again. I had a trustworthy business give me an even lower price than Vision Performance attempted to charge me to repair the stupid mistake they made.
What I like least about Vision Performance is the outright lies they will say to your face and expect that you are going to accept their line of bull. Pay attention to the negative reviews and find someone else who knows what they are doing. It does not matter what the make, model, year or color your car is, they will screw them up all the same.

They have comfy seats to slump around in when my male friends want to just be boys and talk cars for hours.
Oh, and the guys who work here are friendly as well =]

I started coming here back when they called themselves Tangent. The prices aren’t that cheap and the guys don’t really know a good application for each vehicle. They push brand names and popular products but has no knowledge of actual performance facts.
If work is ever done here, make sure all personal information is removed. This place has been known to come back and remove parts that they had installed later in the night.
