They are nothing about pathetic lies and jerks and ******** they have bed bugs in their they have home less running in using the bathrooms and are ********* you know what’s and can go to *******

The bar for customer support has gone up quite a bit over the years, but the customer service at The Marker… WOW! I don’t typically write raving reviews, but I almost felt guilty not signing on and giving these guys a 5star.
The Marker, don’t let the 5star get to your head though. Keep up the amazing work and you’ll have me as a customer every time I’m in SF.

I’ve always been a Kimpton fan and I’ve stayed at the Hotel Monaco in San Francisco many times… so I was a bit apprehensive about the management change and subsequent name to The Marker. I needn’t have been, our stay was great!
I love this hotel. The rooms, the décor, the location (even the gritty bit if you dare go left out the front doors). The service was good and check-​in easy. They still do the complimentary wine and waters, the lounge areas are nice, etc. For parking, I skip the valet (too expensive and you wait a bit for your car) and park at the California Garage right down the street (literally 2 minute walk) with in-​and-​out privileges, and it’s much cheaper.
The new restaurant/​bar was decent… a bit stark and I wasn’t a fan of the look/​feel, but the bartender was friendly. We had breakfast there one morning and it was just ‘okay.’ Didn’t have dinner. BUT, can they get dimmers installed, you could operate under the lighting in place.
Like the Hotel Monaco before it, The Marker will continue to be my go-​to hotel in San Francisco.

Horrible, horrible hotel. Old and worn. No hot water. Room literally the size of a walk in closet. No room service. Indifferent staff. Noisy. All this for $ 600 a night. I’ve stayed in better Holiday Inns. Horrible. Horrible.

Great hotel. Service is 5 star and staff in wonderful. Only negative is the tightly wound door closers so you hear multiple door slams every 15 minutes or so.

I stayed here for two nights on 12÷20−22÷15. The hotel is nice and they had it decorated for Christmas. We came without reservations but were warmly greeted. Since I had stayed here before, when it was named something else, they gave me a no cost upgrade to a Junior Suite. It was on the 4^th floor and overlooked Geary St. Nice! Also fairly quiet, although you will hear a lot of sirens at all times of the day and night. Because this hotel is centrally located, it is an easy walk to grocery shops, liquor stores, pharmacies, etc. Whatever you need, it can be found within 3 blocks. Lots of restaurants with all kinds of food. Parking I found was not difficult, but I managed to find a covered space in a garage about 2 blocks away. Once I parked and did not return until I picked up the car. Parking is $ 35 a day.
The hotel is very good. Staff were great. Cost for two days, including all the California taxes was: $ 314.00, but this did not include the parking which I indicated above.

We had a great stay here for 1 Night from the 23^rd to Christmas Eve! Quick Check In, super friendly staff, complimentary Teas and Coffees in the morning and Wine-​O-​Clock from 5 — 6pm, and we absolutely loved our hotel room, it was gorgeous, clean, and beautifully decorated! Plus, we found out that they are pet friendly, so we will definitely consider bringing the pup next time!

A great value in a good location. It’s an easy walk from Union Square and that BART station. The public spaces are excellent for our business meeting purposes. The rooms are nicely designed, certainly a bit funkier than major chains, and a bit smaller, too. Many rooms are outward facing to the streets, ours was inward facing to a narrow gap between building wings. That’s good; it’s quiet. That’s less good; there’s no view and you need to keep the curtains closed. Based on price, we’d stay there again.

Our stay at The Marker was enjoyable. We arrived early morning on the day of our check in and were given a room on the spot. It saved us the trouble of checking in our bags at the hotel and gave us a chance to freshen up before starting our full day of exploring.
All the staffs were friendly and courteous. There were complimentary citrus infused water by the elevator as well as an amazing wine o’clock in their cozy living room from 5−6pm everyday. They even allowed us to take the wine back to the room. We took advantage of this during our stay and bought take out dinner to enjoy our wine with.
Most importantly, The Marker is located at a very convenient location. Walking distance to Union Square and the Powell Bart station! And for a little longer walk, you can even get to Chinatown.
The room we had was clean, quiet and had a view facing another building. We stayed at the top floor, and the elevator always arrives quickly.
I would stay here again without hesitation.

Formerly the Monacco and flagship of Kimpton hotels. Nice property, comfortable bed, quality linens and towels. The rooms are small (welcome to sf), but you can upgrade to a corner with a king, those are pretty palatial. Very clean rooms. Great water pressure in the showers.
The attached BDK restaraunt is pretty good. The European, which is kitty corner is even better. Lots of nice hotels in this area, this our favorite.

The hotel is in a convenient location. Only three blocks from Union Square, Powell trolly station, Powell Bart station, and Market St. Where u can catch the cable cars to the Warf and the Embarcadero. Great food at BDK or you can walking down a black and find restaurants. The 38 stops in front of the hotel, which will take you to Japan town and The Cliff house. We got a sixth floor room which overlooked an alley and had a view of the neighboring apartment buildings. The room was small, comfortable, and quiet. There is a bench underneath the windows so you can drink ur wine and enjoy the view inside ur room.
We booked the hotel through hotwire. We paid $ 601 for 4 nights ($ 114/​night). Totally worth the price for the accommodations given.
Only cons, which were easily overlooked:
— small rooms (you don’t need more space than this if more visiting)
— no coffee maker (go out and get coffee at a café somewhere and people watch)
— we only got greeted by the staff if they remembered to but other than that, they met our easy requests.

The Marker, like so many other boutique hotels in the Tenderloin, is an old building beautifully converted into something both practically modern and classically handsome. It’s off the map relative to the more popular hotels that surround it (even SF natives familiar with the area told me they’d never heard of it), but that just adds to its appeal.
I make it a habit of staying at as many different hotels as possible during my frequent business trips to the city. When it comes to boutiques, they mostly seem to be desperately dressing up a less-​than-​stellar property, which reminds me of the «lipstick on a pig» saying. The Marker, on the other hand, is a gorgeous building, with a big beautifully restored lobby area complete with an attached sitting room and fireplace and restaurant.
My room wasn’t top end, but it had everything I needed for the price, including the requisite accessible power outlets, decent shower with good water pressure and large comfortable (and clean) bed. It wasn’t The Ritz, but then again very little in this area of town even comes close.
When I checked out I forgot my glasses. I called and they were kind enough to connect me with housekeeping who then brought them down to the front desk for me to pick up later. The door was opened and closed for me by someone on each entry/​exit and the staff were all smiles. Overall it’s a great environment for an overnight stay, and it’s close to Union Square!

I stayed when it was still Hotel Monaco, but I don’t believe much has changed since then. This hotel is fantastic. We stayed at this warm and charming hotel for 2 evenings for a little stay-​cation. The staff were friendly and helpful with plenty suggestions.
The location is very central to the Union Square area which is either a good or bad thing depending on what your’e looking for. That said, if you’re visiting from out of town then it’s perfect area to get some shopping done and be in a central area of downtown SF.
They also have bicycles to use for free which lets you explore the city a bit more. Though riding around the hotel can be somewhat adventurous it allows you to visit neighboring areas like Hayes Valley, Japantown and/​or the Marina.
The rooms aren’t the biggest, but you wouldn’t probably be staying here because of the space. They are modern and clean. Most comfy beds and a very nice bathroom. The hotel is also pet friendly which may or may not be a plus for you.
I would definitely recommend staying at The Marker or any Kimpton Hotel as they are usually pretty great. Definitely a boutique style hotel which gives it a lot of character.

The lobby is exquisite. Check the web site. The room we stayed in was ok. A little small. Bed comfortable though. I did find old chunk of chocolate on one of the show pillows and had to ask twice to have it changed out.
The staff asked me several times if things were going well. The bell hop told me if I needed anything and gave me the personal touch which made me feel good about my stay.
My wife put in laundry that was returned late, but clean.
Over all, nice Hotel in San Francisco. I have stayed in better for less. I hate to say that, but maybe it is the area. Or maybe bring the price down.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick trip to the city as we were attending an SF Giants game the following day. It appears that they have a bunch of juvenile delinquents running this place as they have no professionalism whatsoever. Oh well, no big deal, we are staying just one night and we won’t stay here again, particularly for the sum of $ 450.00 which is what one-​night cost of us.
The main problem is when we got home, we both had BITES covering our legs!!! We travel quite often and have never experienced bed bugs. I am so jaded now. Don’t stay here!

Two words: Absolutely astounding!
I stayed at The Marker for my birthday getaway/​girls weekend. This hotel is precious.
Upon our arrival to San Francisco our cab driver warned us about the homeless/​vagrants in the vicinity. I have travelled all over the world & I have to say San Fran has the highest so far compared to NYC, Chicago, NOLA, Boston, etc. So the hotel area is not void of this. No issues & nothing to worry about. It’s not indicative of the hotel, it’s just apart of the city.
The hotel once entering was such a pleasure to the senses. Warm & cozy we were immediately greeted. There is fresh fruit infused water on ice & an amazing candle like aroma almost vanilla like in the air. We checked in early so the room wasn’t ready however the hotel concierge checked our bags away & let me know they’d reach out once our room was ready. While checking our bags we asked about some of the city passes. I being a bit of a history nerd really had the desire to check out Alcatraz. We were given a tip by the concierge that Alcatraz tickets were sold out however could be easily purchased at pier 33/​fishermans wharf if we got there early in the morning. Such a good tip that proved tremendously useful as we got tickets later that weekend by going to pier 33! Yay! During the conversation the concierge found out it was my birthday & gave us 6 free drink passes to the restaurant next door! So sweet!
The generosity did not stop there. After touring around union square/​Chinatown we made our way back to the hotel. Our room was ready & seriously *hands down* the BEST hotel I’ve stayed in… and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels! As soon as we stepped into the room the hotel surprised me with fresh gerber flowers, chocolates, decadent cupcakes, a bottle of wine & a personalized card signed by all of the staff! Utterly amazed. The sweetest gesture I’ve ever received from a hotel staff.
The décor is modern/​hip & exudes my personal taste. Seriously match made in hotel heaven. Complimentary wine happy hour from 5 – 6. The fruit infused water is a hit & after a full day of walking around the hilly streets welcomed! Also a complimentary bike or yoga mat is offered for free to use during your stay! The staff is sweet & helpful. No issues. Restaurant was meh food unimpressive & restaurant manager was a jerk Bc he didn’t let us use the complimentary drink passes from hotel but whatevs this isn’t a reflection of the hotel. I will write a separate review of the restaurant besides if it weren’t for the drink passes we likely would have continued hitting up all the rad San Francisco restaurants. Ps there’s a cool bar next door which is soooo convenient called swig, you get tipsy & walk two steps to hotel. Also further down is a yummy falafel place which is great street food. All and all the location is convenient EVERYTHING was walking distance except fishermans wharf. The Marker made an impression & certainly made my birthday weekend more memorable. Thank YOU! I will be back when I’m in San Francisco next please continue to be as precious as you were when I visited.

Ok so I work in the travel industry and have stayed in many a hotel. I traveled here for a personal trip last week (not business). From the moment I walked in, it was a positive experience. The check in process was very efficient, pleasant and the guest service agent Brian was a pleasure to work with. I was able to check in early and received an upgrade (thank you very much). Two unexpected perks!
I really like how the rooms are decorated (much better than how the Monaco was decorated) and they were spotlessly clean and I mean SPOTLESS. The bellman (I didn’t catch his name. a younger fellow with light brown hair) was super helpful and always had a smile. Was eager to help with Muni info and restaurant advice.
There was not one thing about this stay I would change, or do differently. Keep up the good work Marker, and thanks for making my stay a memorable one! P. S. I’m making this review simply because I LOVED this place so much. I was not asked to make it or influenced by anybody to do so.

Stayed at this hotel for my sister’s bachelorette party. Woke up Saturday morning and my arm was filled with bed bug bites! The «cleaning crew supervisors» came to inspect the room and I asked if they had a laundry service. One of the women rudely said no and told me I can get my laundry done somewhere else when they had their OWN laundry service. Such a liar! I honestly think they should have comped my whole stay. I had to buy new clothes just to cover up my arm. Oh, and the cleaning crew sucked too. We asked for towels and they gave us attitude. WTF Marker Hotel, get it together!

My friends and I stayed here for a bachelorette weekend and had one of the worst experiences ever. One of my friends ended up with beg bug bites and they didn’t even try to comp our stay.
They transferred us to another room and gave us free champagne, whoa!
Staff were so rude especially housekeeping. For a newly renovated hotel, you would expect it to be so much better.
Hope they look at Unilocal reviews cause they need to know what they should work on.

The hotel has a lovely Parisian feel and is about 3 blocks from union square. The staff is incredibly nice and the rooms have a boutique feel even though they’re pretty small (and the bathroom door is a sliding door with no lock). Meanwhile, unless you upgrade, don’t expect a view… you’ll face a bank of other guests’ windows above an alley/​empty courtyard. They have a nice wine hour which is free and the BDK restaurant looked like a place you’d eat even if you weren’t staying there. The parking was very high at $ 56 a night but that’s par for the course in that part of town and you get free in and out.
Overall perfectly nice place to stay and good value for the money (we paid about $ 215 on the hotels tonight app).

Ich habe das neue Marker Hotel nur durch die Hotelhalle und das WC kennengelernt, da ich Gast im BDK Restaurant war, das direkt an das Hotel angeschlossen ist.
Der Eingangsbereich und auch die Halle und alle Räumlichkeiten, die man von hier aus sieht, sehen sehr gepflegt und stilvoll aus.
Man sieht sofort, dass hier die Preislage der Zimmer etwas höher angesiedelt ist, was auch auf die wirklich zentrale Lage in der Geary St, nur einige Blocks vom Union Square entfernt, zurück zuführen ist.
Das BDK Restaurant und Bar ist auf alle Fälle einen Besuch wert. Dieses ist auch durch einen eigenen Eingang erreichbar, so dass man das Hotel nicht grundsätzlich durchqueren muss.
Für eine zukünftige Buchung, werde ich das The Marker Hotel sicherlich ins Auge fassen.
